That was our wish, as we set our course for the formation of our Kingdom. It was the wish of our Aaunic Lords, and of the people of the Heartlands. Our homes have been ravaged by war, tyrants and destruction for more than a decade. Our wish - Our only wish was to see integrity, peace, stability, and sovereignty restored to our Kingdom. That is the truth, and the only truth. Yet, we have been betrayed. Our people, not wishing for more than to harvest the year’s crop, to sing with their beloved ones and to see their Kingdom grow, have been betrayed by those across the border in Petra, who we for long hoped to consider our brothers and sisters both in arms and faith, with whom we only recently signed an alliance, having turned against us. Today, we received word of a secret meeting between the rulers of Petra, Haense and Balian. We of course have nothing against such, but it is the contents of this meeting that make GOD Himself weep. For within this meeting, justifying it with the lie that Aaun seeks to restore the Empire of Oren, Petra called for a declaration of war against our United Kingdom. But yet more heinous still, they suggested the kidnapping of members from each of our noble families, who have done nothing to strike tension or hurt, in a cowardly bid to force us to surrender our sovereignty. But they don’t plot these wretched things out of any genuine concern of an Empire. Neither I, my people nor my King seek to restore Oren. Indeed, we so recently fought against Frederick the Usurper to destroy it, many of us, including our King, having already bled alongside Haense against the Anathemata, Philip III. And we have sought war with no one, offering treaties to all Canonist realms, including Petra, who have returned our offer to renew our alliance with this threat of conquest. No, it is not we who wish to reform Oren, but the warmongers of Petra, the ones you break bread with, the ones who urge you to plunge your realms into fire and blood so that they may form a new Novellen Empire from the ashes. Ever since the fall of the Kingdom, they have housed the remnants of Frederick’s regime, and now it seems they wish to burn the Heartlands to avenge him and reform his realm. If none of the words we have ever said have stuck to you, my brothers in Faith who me and mine bled and died in our fight for GOD against the Anathema of Oren, hear this. We are GOD-fearing, GOD-loving folk. We have allowed the Holy Mother Church to test our populace, soldiers and lords, and we house no darkspawn, no Ibleesi traitors, no enemies of yours. We wish for no war, no destruction, no decay nor Empire. Our only wish is peace, integrity and sovereignty, and those alone. But most important of all, it breaks our heart to see our people, who have done nothing to attract your wrath, come under threat once more.
