The House of Halcourt has long served as one of the most austere and renowned human families, leading multiple revivals of Auvergnian culture throughout the centuries. With countless notable historical figures, from Petrus Watch Commander Cecil Halcourt, to Governor-General Sylvester V Halcourt, even to Grand Knight Sophia Halcourt, the dynasty has become known for serving overlords in every nation, in every occupation, with the utmost dedication and skill. 

 

For some time, therefore, the Halcourts and their banners have been spread across many realms. Still this is the case, being an international dynasty, with some Halcourts living in Adria, Aaun, Haense, Balian, and Petra. But the power base, and the patriarchy of the household, remains in the Commonwealth. Therefore, with respect to the branches abroad, the main line has sought fit to undergo a restoration of the Halcourt lands once more, for the first time since the dissolution of Curon.

 

Accordingly, the Marquis du Clermont, Sir Laurens Henri Halcourt d’Artois, does form the Council of Clermont, and discharges this body with the power to enact his will in the Marquisate.

Sir Laurens ‘the Unwavering’ Halcourt d’Artois, the first Marquis du Clermont, began his career in the Sons of Petra as a Sergeant, before making his way through the ranks to Marshal after the Petrine Civil War saw a Loyalist victory. After serving in the military for over two decades, he retired and was appointed Chanzlè of the Commonwealth, a post that would allow him to be the Head of Government. After being the Baron of Artois for many years, Laurens was awarded a Marquisiate for his efforts. The Council of Clermont shall act as the advisory body to the Marquis and offer him counsel on many matters.

Serving as Chancellor and Chief Advisor to the Marquis, the Castellan is the highest-ranking administrator in the Marquisate du Clermont. Supervising the Council of Clermont and generally leading the affairs of the House of Halcourt, this person is a critical official.

Having existed for centuries, the Halcourts are ancient. Accordingly, the Historian ensures that records are kept for posterity. This includes publishing various documents recording our history and generally keeping records as needed.

Young lords and ladies need to be wed; alliances need to be forged; and relations must be maintained with those that share our interests. Accordingly, the Diplomat ensures good relations with neighbors and others.

The Halcourt Corp. is centuries old. Its subsidiaries are various: Princely Prints; Halcourt Brewing Co.; and even the Auvergnian Attire clothing brand, among others. The Shopkeeper is tasked with maintaining our shop in Petra’s capital, and generally ensuring the good conduct of our business assets.

The Governess ensures that young lords and ladies are raised appropriately. Further, she keeps the pantry stocked and the dinner table served.
