Foreword

House Seregon is a noble elven family and house currently situated in the Exilic Kingdom of Númendil with their own landed hold of Caladras. Much of the lineage and past of the house is storied, yet their reach extends beyond their hold with roots and branches extending into a wide sweep of kingdoms and nations. House Seregon's history leaves an enduring legacy set out by the house's founder, Ikur Seregon. Through the patriarchal lead of Ikur and followed with the matriarchal lead of Cálienë Seregon, the house has risen to prominence within the realm. A turning point was reached for the house after the matriarch uprooted their place in Haelun'or and took the remnant members to Barrowton which would later become Nùmendil. A marriage between the Sullas Talonnii and House Seregon saw Elerríon join as patriarch and equal to Cálienë, and the house's prominence started to take hold as their commitment to the kingdom and to that of Tar-Nùmenatär granted them the Lordship of Caladras.

Characterized by fair skin, lighter hair tones, and a unique balance of physical and academic prowess, the Seregons are known for their determination and sense of justice, House Seregon's legacy continues to evolve, leaving an indelible mark on our realm.

Etymology

Seregon is unique among almost all high elven families, the origins of Seregon derive from old Adunic or Almenorean Elven with the words for sereg (“blood”) + gond (“great stone, rock”). While the direct origins and meaning for why this is the case is lost to time, it is theorized that the earliest members of Seregon were affiliated with old Idunia. In all likelihood, the cultures and language around Idunia may have referred to a type of alchemical herb as ‘Seregon’ or “Blood of Stone”.

A. noun. "Blood of Stone", a plant with deep red flowers commonly known as “stonecrop” in Common and “Sedum” in Flexio.

History

The Seregons of yesteryear have a history best forgotten. The achievements of those in the past centuries are far more remarkable than any rumored insanity. Ikur Sullas, former Patriarch, served as Sohaer for an interim period during Axios. The system born from his reign, dubbed the Ikur’onn Sohaer System, has been utilized to this day to ensure a peaceful transition of power during times of strife.

A new chapter of Seregonian History began in early Arcas, with the arrival of Cálienë Seregon, then Dele Velulaei’hiuwvalleierih (lit; Moonbrook) to Laureh’thilln during a period of strife. Some years following her return, then-Patriarch Ikur Sullas returned with his wife, Aiera, and their children. In coming months, Ikur would name Cálienë as his successor as Aiera was legitimized as a Sullas and took up the mantle of Laurir.

The decades following saw the Matriarch and her kin thrive in Lareh’thilln. The name Seregon became synonymous with learning during this time, as the unnamed clinic and the Eternal Library were both staffed by members of the family. Lessons in history, elvish, medicine, and more were led by Seregons. The Laurir Cálienë would serve the Silver Republic for eighty-two years as Okarir’hiylun. An extensive tenure for a republic that lasted only two years longer. As instability and strife became ever more common in Haelun’or, a series of events would lead to the death of Malaurir Azorella Elibar’acal, thus plunging the Silver State into a dark period.

Following her resignation as Okarir’hiylun and the strife that followed Ikur’s resignation from Maheral, many members vacated the Silver State in early Almaris. They were scattered to the four winds, only briefly re-uniting later during the Almaris years before returning to the lives they made for themselves. Celia’nor, The Barrow Marches, and Haelun’or played host to a number of Seregons.

It was within The Barrow Marches and the Lordship of Barrowton that Laurir Cálienë would settle again. The fractures of the family began to mend and rejoin as the matriarch entered a courtship and marriage that would once again tie the Seregon and Sullas families together. In the form of an old friend and student, Light found the Vulture and the animosity of two would become one. Elerríon Sullas, then rescinded from his name, took to the Seregon namesake with their wedding. Years of dedication would lead Elerríon to stand alongside his wife as patriarch to her matriarch.

Following the excisement from Almaris and the arrival to Aevos, a great number of Seregons now live in the White City of Númenost in the Exilic Kingdom of Númendil. With the two family heads effectively exiled from Haelun’or, the Seregons built new roots for themselves oathed to the Adunic king, Tar-Númenatär of House Arthalionath.

Soon enough, the family would see their dedications paid in return as an enfeoffment from Tar-Númenatär would see the Seregons with a true land to their own. The Lordship of Caladras would be founded by the matriarch, Cálienë, and patriarch, Elerríon. The two would become Lady and Lord of the lands, respectively.

Notable Figures

Ikur Seregon, now Sullas, a prominent figure in the history of Haelun'or, remains an intriguing figure of short stature. His legacy is marked by a series of remarkable achievements that have left a lasting impact on the Silver State of Haelun'or. Ikur served as the Okarir'tir, wielding significant influence through military action during the Fringe Wars, a tumultuous period in The Fringe's history. What truly distinguishes him, however, is his lengthy tenure as Haelun'or's Okarir’nor, which he held from the era of the Fringe into the time of Vailor. During his leadership, Notably, he continued to guide the nation as Sohaer during the challenging era of Axios. Ikur played a pivotal role in orchestrating the expulsion of the Uthirate, an Orenian puppet state, from Haelun'or, solidifying his reputation as a resolute and capable leader. In a later chapter, Ikur assumed the role of Maheral, overseeing Haelun'or's cultural development during the Arcas period. His policies were often divisive, with the most notorious being his pact with the Titan Azdromoth, a desperate measure to defend against Inferi forces besieging the realm. Ikur Sullas' enigmatic and complex journey remains a subject of fascination and debate among scholars and historians to this day.

Rinaedith Seregon, a close cousin of Cálienë Seregon and distant cousin of Ikur Sullas, was not public about her life or achievements. Very little is known, even to those who knew her. Rinaedith left Laureh'thilln, and Haelun'or changed forever. She was one of the youngest Okarir'maehr to have served on the Silver Council. She spent much of her youth dedicated to rebuilding the Eternal Library to its former glory. Her term on the council was marked by the large sum of books, and artifacts she managed to curate for the Eternal Library on top of what she restored after the collection had been ransacked. After conflict reached Laureh'thill during the Voidal Incursion, Rinaedith was left blinded after standing against a Voidal Horror that sought to corrupt her fellow mali'aheral. Several years later, Rinaedith resigned and left Haelun'or before her fiftieth birthday. She has not been seen since, but it is rumored she is still traveling the world, teaching and sharing the Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya.

Elerríon Seregon, the current patriarch of House Seregon and Lord of Caladras, has a quite outspoken and storied history with his life. His life in Haelun’or began in a stagnant yet tumultuous time period. By the time he was seventeen, the Silver State of Haelun’or had dissolved under threat from the September Prince. The young elf would begin a long chapter of his life without a true home, simultaneously marked with conflict and strife as he participated in several wars and conflicts. When Elerríon returned to Haelun’or, he’d quickly taken up the mantle of Mediir’indor for the Eternal Library, a position and institute he worked with for forty years. His time in Haelun’or would be sporadic at best, several conflicts and other factors would drive the elf away at various points in his life. It was an altercation with Maheral Seth Calith that would see him banished outright. Elerríon moved to the precursor of Númendil with Cálienë, eventually marrying her and being bestowed the patriarch for the House. He came to be known amongst the Númenaranyë for his efforts and dedication to the fledgling Kingdom and to Tar-Númenatâr Foronathor of House Arthalionath. Through martial skill, scholarly insight, and a tact mindfulness, Elerríon made a name for himself alongside his wife, gaining the favor of his King and a Lordship to safeguard his House.

Cálienë Seregon, reigning matriarch of House Seregon for the last two hundred years and Lady of Caladras, came from humble roots. The result of a loveless arranged marriage, Cálienë was at large raised by the Daelish community beyond the confines of her parents' farm. By the age of twenty, she departed from this humble life and set off to see the world. Spending a large portion of her childhood and her young adult life, she eventually made her way to the gates of Laureh'thilln in Arcas by her hundred and eighth name day. She remained in Haelun'or, serving tirelessly as a Physician, and even further as Okarir'hiylun, until she was simply too tired to keep going. She departed from the Silver State sometime after the arrivial to Almaris, disappearing from the public eye for decades to come. When she returned to it, she was just as vocal and opinionated as before, and found herself once more departing from the company of the High Elves. She arrived in the Barrowlands with little but wooden crates she'd never unpacked in Asul'hileia. In between stacking books on shelves and the incessant, endless rain, as well as in her service to  Tar-Númenatâr Foronathor of House Arthalionath that Cálienë found peace, god, and a new life. A new life that only prospered further with every new day with the guidance of her husband Elerríon.

Traditions

House Heraldry

For much of their history as a Haelun’orian Talonnii, House Seregon was represented simply with a red diamond punctuated by a white star. Little is known about the origins of this symbolism, except for the traditional implications of ‘war’ and ‘purity’ associated with those colors, among Mali’aheral. For centuries, this was the case.

With the Lordship bestowed upon Elerríon and Cálienë, a rebranding appeared to be needed. To highlight their joint stewardship over the family, and the efforts of both present and former Seregons, a shield was designed. Seregon red in hue, stamped in the center with the Sullas medallion, a sprawling silver and Aurum star presides; flanked by the vulture that symbolized the tenure of Ikur Sullas in days past.

Daelish Traditions

Dancing

Daelish dancing is a traditional dance form that originated in Daelish culture. It is characterized by intricate footwork, precise movements, and the use of the arms held close to the body. Dancers often perform in kilts and wear traditional Daelish attire. Some of the most famous Daelish dances include the Sword Dance and the Daelish Fling. These dances were historically performed to commemorate victories in battle or special occasions.

Marriage

Handfasting is an ancient Daelish marriage ceremony that predates modern Canonist wedding customs. In this ritual, a couple would come together before witnesses and a clergyman, and their hands would be bound together with a ribbon or cord, symbolizing their commitment to one another. Handfasting was often a temporary commitment, with couples agreeing to be married for a specific period, usually a year and a day, after which they could choose to formalize their marriage or part ways.

Daelish Language

The Daelish language was spoken in various dialects throughout Daeland. It has deep historical roots and is considered one of the Daelish’s oldest languages. While Common is mainly spoken in modern Daelish communities, Daelish words and phrases are still used in everyday conversation, particularly in informal settings.

Jewel of the Seregon - Seregon’s Sigil

The current head of the House, be it patriarch or matriarch, carries with them the Seregon’s Sigil. It is a newer tradition, crafted by Elerríon himself.

Seregon’s Sigil

A pendant necklace of pure, polished silver that held ten diamonds in a radiant constellation around the bottom edge. A radiant silver, four-pointed star is set into the front of the pendant with a larger Aurum four-pointed star over that. On either side of the top edge, Aurum carved vultures are set into the pendant, each with ruby eyes. In the center of the overlaid radiant stars, a yellow danburite stone is flanked by four sapphires. Washed into the recessed outlines would be a treatment of Glimmerstone which caused those outlines to emit a dull, white light. An engraving on the back of the pendant reads, ‘Fair shall the end be, though long and hard shall be the road.’

Description

Features

The members of the Seregon family are fair-skinned, often freckled with sun-exposure, and with softer and more rounded features. With any extensive elven family, traits vary, but the Seregons almost unilaterally have lighter hair tones, such as golden blonde, golden red, or even silver. Silver hair is typical of the Elibar’acal-Seregon line from which Ikur Sullas descends from. Golden blonde and golden-reds are more likely to occur in individuals from the Velulaei’vallehiuwerih-Seregon line, which Cálienë Seregon descends from. The height of a Seregon remains on average for most high elves, between 5’10” and 6’4”, but notably the women descended from the bloodline err on the taller side than the men. Unlike many high elven families, an almost outlier trait for many Seregons is their fuller figures and wider framed features.

Much of the Seregon family are martial with a tendency for physical strength and the occupations and hobbies that go along with that. A Seregon holds both their academic pursuits and their physical skills in equal value, but may favor one over the other in times of peace or in times of strife. The balance of knowledge and physical prowess lead many Seregons towards occupations such as; farming, fighting, smithing, and teaching.

An unusual trait for many High Elves, Seregons shun all Voidal Magics due to the poisoning of the body. While a few have taken to the practice, they are considered outliers which lead some Seregons to take up Fi’harren’tayna. One of the most notable Fi “Mages” being Ikur Sullas. In recent decades, the Seregons have begun to lean into the practices of Templarism and Paladinism.

Temperament

The Seregons are often head-strong with a propensity for arrogant behaviors. Dedication and passion for themselves and their loved ones brings a sense that a Seregon may seem quick to anger and vengeful to correct wrongdoing. Yet, for every bit of that explosive passion is the intrinsic understanding and pursuit for the greater good. A Seregon with rage in their eyes likely has just cause to back up that anger.

Spoiler

The intention of this was to rewrite and document a concise and up-to-date culture and record for the Seregon family. In many ways, it will become a guide for players who are set to join the Seregon family. Bearing in mind that this document should be considered loose and not a stringent set of requirements and traits for characters descending from or joining the Seregon family.

I wanted to extend a gracious amount of credit to @Stump and @Demented_Delilafor some of the work that has gone into this record. Further than that, there has been a great number of players who have played or still play characters for the Seregon family. If it was not for them, this document and record would be meaningless. A tremendous amount of care is extended to those players.

If you want to play a character for there Seregon family, or perhaps you already do and aren’t connected to us, reach out to me here on the forums or through Discord @ kyrrn
