Sebbysc 747 Share Posted November 27, 2023 The Year of our Lord, 1952 BETRAYAL AMIDST CELEBRATION IN-CHARACTER, POINT OF VIEW It was on that sunny morning, as the dew settled upon the ground, that Leopold arose within his chamber at the Palace of Napoliza. That wing was in a destitute state of affairs, left by those he brought with him as the keep of Gotfridcher was in construction. The only welcoming company he had left were the servants and his wife & sons when they blessed him with their presence. The plan for that day was simple: To enjoy the birthday party of one of his remaining friends. The day brought many joys with it, at first. He partied alongside his friends of Merryweather, his Eldest Son, and his Wife. Watching Robert land a bullseye was something that brought an immense amount of pride & joy to him. Though, as all good things do, it came to a close upon the reception of his King’s summons. With Ser Waclaw by his side, Leopold rode to the Hand of Horen in preparation for an unfortunate series of events. It was believed to be a simple diet, but only if he had known what was to come. Ser Leopold had met his King atop that spire, at the royal chambers. There were reminders throughout his ascent of those who came before him and those he had served. Both fond & melancholic memories flooded him each time he passed by the portraits of Henry and Ser Gawyn. The failures and successes of the Knight’s life were represented in part by those portraits. At least Edmund would surely be a redeeming factor in his life, or so he belived. King Edmung and Ser Leopold, along with a couple of servants, descended down towards the Diet Hall. The dissolution of the Royal Diet was to take full effect and allow a transfer of power to the King and his Council. Edmund made his presence known during this vote and to manage a peaceful transition. However, soon enough the true intentions of some of the members of the diet were revealed. Hollering voices were heard before the Hand’s entrance, and soon enough those voices bursted through the doors as men in black & purple garb rushed inward. Ser Leopold was caught in the rush as he unsheathed his blade. Two men of Stassion loyalty held him by the sword. A regret punched him in the stomach as he realized he wasn’t by his King’s side. With the worst to be assumed he lowered his blade, for there was nothing he could do. As he did so, one of the Stassion fellows rammed his blade through the opening of his armpit. His cry of pain was soon covered-up by a gasp of breath. The second Stassion had slit his throat in that chaotic moment. Ser Leopold would die next to his friend, Heinrich of Merryweather, as he slid down the pillar behind him. The thoughts that ran through his mind were of his family and the responsibilities that he was leaving behind. A cry of anguish tried to escape, but it was choked as the life faded from him. Even if it was not a peaceful end it was an ending nevertheless. WILL OF THE COUNT To the Stakeholders of the Haverlock estate, In the event of my death I have laid out this parchment, supported by the Crown of Aaun and its faculties. I pray that my will be done according to this missive. I wish for my niece, Olenna Katerina Haverlock, to take upon the mantle of regency upon my demise. She will have say over the Haverlock estate, titles, and so forth until my son Robert Matyas Haverlock is of age. The heirlooms I pass down will be managed by my beloved wife, Emmeline. She will dictate which of my sons may acquire them and so forth. Even the little wealth that I have acquired should be distributed justly. Let my squires seek out men of good virtue & faith to continue their studies. I apologize for my absence, and I pray the next Knight shall show you greater attention. I bestow my blessing upon whoever may take hold of the City Watch. May your success outweigh my own. Let the reign of Robert Matyas bless the Kingdom of Aaun and all those subject to it. IT IS DECLARED, HIS EXCELLENCY, Ser Leopold Alexander Haverlock, Prince of the Haverlocks, Count of Talentine, Baron of Gotfridcher, Lord Captain of the Whitespire City Watch, and Knight of the Circle of St. Godwin

Frank_Dog 808 Share Posted November 27, 2023 Camilla Falkner read the missive rushing to the privacy of her chambers. She cried, though she tried not to. "To believe I love him once, but he has done so much ill. Out of them all, he is the only one I will shed a tear for, and let it only be these few. Oh Gott, why did he have to accuse us of vampirism. To get the attention off his own kin?"
