I've only had one experience with the ferryman specifically with Mickael and that was on my blah speaking dark elf.  In my personal experience the CRP actually brought some excitement for once, in a world where most people will jump around and do nothing most of the time. I don't think its a bad thing to stir the pot once in a while.  Though, i also understand the issues with bad faith RP and also just the general annoyance of losing a valuable item. In my personal experience with the ferryman though (well two of them) they have been kind and respectful and they did not act in any sort of bad faith.

ts a fact boss, you knew and you still played

Okay but you gotta think of it from the PoV from someone who's only really played in Oren up to that point

Rumors are a powerful tool, I had seen /literally/ no proof, evidence, anything whatsoever to back up "KP is a Pedophile" claims until /day of/ KP getting ToS'd and Nectorist couping (despite multiple times asking for such). I also knew at the time a lot of people hated Oren both IRPly and OOCly, so there would be chances that people would start these rumors to discredit KP and make more people want him off the throne. If I really, truly knew KP was, infact, a pedo, I wouldn't of been RPing in Oren when he was NL.

Also, after said debacle you still invited me to join the reformed ISA after the Brothers war, so, you clearly didn't care back then if I knew or not.

Maybe a pointless comments but this did provoke some thoughts from me. It's probably decently forgotten or potentially covered up how much a lot of Ferrymen helped with the founding of Celia'nor (Though I wouldn't label it as specifically ours given the amount of help there were from others as well). This was another one of those big projects a lot of us worked towards and I would actually consider this one good. That's not to say I'm entirely proud of everything that was done during this time. People's interest in the projects diminished mostly after the first bans got issued, and in that case it's really a gg situation. That said, myself and a few others really did stick to it and although our alliance did fall through a bit later, I'm happy to know that at least something lasting came out of it that has a community of it's own that's (mostly) survived unscathed. Regardless of how a lot of the community feels about Celia'nor, creating something of it's scale on modern lotc definitely wasn't easy, and I think overall it was a good use of effort.

I thought this was well known knowledge that Ferrymen where large factors of making Celia'nor a thing? But sure it wasn't a 'ferrymen only' thing, I remember vividly getting DM'd by Snelf's asking me to make a Snelf to help out Twi's rebels (which I did, and actually had plans to RP on outside of just getting hours up with a few other friends who I found also made Snelfs but it never went anywhere unfortunatley)

ideally the goal should be to build a kingdom and not get permabanned in a way that is described as 'the worst case of NL shadowleading in lotc history'

same for stopping the worship of those players when they're long gone after contributing to the server's toxicity through blackmail and extreme targeting

I personally haven't had that many bad experiences (I'm friends with a few of the ferrymen so maybe they were nicer to me or maybe I'm biased), but I've definitely heard stories from friends about being treated badly or targeted, and a lot of slurs and other offensive words being used oocly (But, because they're not my personal experiences, I tend to take it all with a grain of salt). However, while I can't delve into the deeplore of the ferrymen or oren or any other part of lotc, I think it could stand as an obvious reminder to be kind? I don't know who needs that oocly but like. this is a mincraft server. there are people behind each screen, and most of them use lotc as an escape of some sort. Be courteous oocly, especially if you play a villain.

I personally don't view the whole of the Ferrymen as a bad group, I think there should always be a little bit of conflict in rp otherwise it just gets a little boring, but that being said I have been a part of LOTC since 2021 , and the interactions I've had with people from the ferrymen often was not so good, I'm all for conflict in rp but when it turns and the person is just being toxic ocly, thats when I think a lot of us have a problem, I shan't say names because honestly, it has been a while since I myself have had an altercation with a member of the ferrymen in some time now, not since Almaris but if people in the ferrymen are like how I remember them to be back in Almaris, then it is simply the toxic-ness that is given coly that is the problem, or any meta and powergaming, as long as these three factors are looked upon and made sure not to happen then I think the ferrymen would be a pleasent conflict group to have around to give contrast.

An actual little feedback thing. Something I'm guilty of is hearing things on this server and allowing it to effect views on said group before I myself can make a judgement for myself.

I think it's a marketing thing for Ferrymen, these comments alone show people don't know that this group helps go out and fund and start other groups. And the ones mentioned aren't even the full extent of it.

Idk if anyone else remembers Mickaelhz rule as Rex in Krugmar but I do. This is already a huge boost on the forums for the group.

Sure theirs little hang ups, new people.come into groups and have to get vetted to the server.

For those still reading this, and have not, interacted with any of these people yourself. I'd take anything you hear in a nation discord with a huge heap of salt. Guards and military people in cities are going to naturally be aggressive with Ferrymen.

Now. The juicy stuff. The allegations of racism etc.

Do the Ferrymen say unhinged shit? Yes. However, are any what we see actually racists? Extremely doubtful. I imagine if they were they'd all have a lot of trouble living in different countries and forming a community for themselves.

I can say as well sense maining a darkspawn, most people can get instantly stand offish from conflict which just ruins my mood and makes me wanna boop em with boomsteel.

Despite somehow not havin more than 1 encounter with the Ferrymen with how cursed my luck is OOCLY, I'll admit the 1 instance I DID have left a sour taste in my mouth & felt bad for those who were also dragged into it.... I remember back in Kaethul back when the city was hopping, full of people selling goods at their stalls, people stood about the streets to converse, even enjoyed the tavern for the sold drinks. Yet when it came time to close up shop for the night by the owner of the bar's word shooing everyone out nicely, the Ferrymen rolled in to cause a rauckus both in RP & OOCLY.

It was attempted to try & keep the peace to strictly only in RP, with asking the group to leave the tavern as well, but some members refused to leave from behind the counter, others ignoring players' words to simply drink for the fun of it. I can't recall how many guards were called to help the situation, but despite being pushed out, they began breaking windows to get in, so the tavern keep gave in & allowed the Ferrymen to drink inside the tavern with the gates down.

This only caused more chaos as the group THEN decided to claim the tavern as their own, attempting to sell drinks under their roof & cause a mess for the owner to break down & leave at 1 point; I felt bad for the owner, but had no power to fight a group of rowdy drinkers on my own. Heck, I'm surprised none of them tried to rob me of my jewelry right then & there.

I understand they just wanted to have fun & may have gotten upset if the tavern was closing up, but it also cut the fun for everyone short when none of them would listen to OOC concerns enough to try & corral the situation. I'm not sayin all Ferrymen are downright rude & rowdy, but the lack of restraint definitely doesn't paint a pretty picture for anyone to want to join in the RP experience....

oh god i forgot about this

Yeah it was really frustrating to deal with, plus there was meme rp in shout, so we just had an in character truth or dare party in one of the guy's keeps

Fun times, there was a marriage proposal

Memes aside, several Ferrymen have been great lads to chat with. Werewolf and Orlanth as examples I've had good chats with about lore or the server in general. Some other ferrymen are just straight up hilarious.  Some of yall are nasty fucks sometimes, but not anything I haven't seen in every other community on LoTC, so y'know, glass houses.

I think often Ferrymen are looked at as screamer PVP bullies, and certain communities they fight are looked at as Slice-o-Life ERP cringe crybabies.

Both of the above statements are both true, and false, at the same time.

I'd love to shit-post and meme with you lads if you got a discord up.
