During the first war, Many descendents were left powerless against the forces of ruin and darkness that tore through their homelands. Seeing this, Tahariae convened directly with these lost and suffering peoples to bestow upon them his blessings and boons. In this, they became the first of the clerics.

Through antiquity, Tahariae’s following of clerics have been marred by the unworthy, falling to inaction, insufficiency, and even becoming that very darkness which they had sought to purge. For this reason, the clerics were sundered, a tarnished stain upon Tahariae’s name.

 

However, following Azdromoth’s apotheosis, and the death of his beloved brother, Xan- Tahariae sought to not give up upon the endeavor of a mortal following; but to reinvent the idea, though no longer in the image of the now-dead Lion’s paladins, nor in the image of the once-sundered clerics.

 

Thus now he scrutinizes his Arbiters closely- for they are the means to justify the ends, and He is the judge, jury and executioner of His vision, in service to the purity that the creator initially bestowed upon descendantkind.

The vision of purity is the creation of a mortal world inherited by descendantkind without the meddling of the deific and daemonic. Arbiters are a mere extension of this higher will, that serve only to enact this sole imperative, entrusted unto them by Tahariae.

 

An ‘Impure’ being is defined as any descendent who has forsaken their pure nature by having their soul altered by any means, or those who are under deific or daemonic influence.

This is the firm and absolute law that has been bestowed upon the Arbiters of Tahariae to enforce and follow. To betray this mandate is to betray their purpose, and Tahariae has no use for those who do not act to fulfill the vision of purity.

 

I. An Arbiter authorized on behalf of Tahariae shall, for the purposes of the execution of this Mandate, have the power to enforce the following Mandates to the full of their capacity and utilize any amount of force necessary as is reasonable and proportionate to the situation.

1. If an Arbiter has reasonable grounds to suspect that any person has failed to adhere to these Mandates, they have full jurisdiction to impose any punishment as is reasonable and proportionate to the offense.
2. If an Arbiter has reasonable grounds to suspect that another Arbiter has failed to adhere to these Mandates, they have full jurisdiction to revoke the authorization granted by Tahariae.
3. For the purpose of these Mandates, harm is defined as the loss or damage to a person's property, rights, or physical or mental well-being.
   1. Impure beings shall not be considered protected by this Mandate nor are they considered to have rights, including all mentions relating to harm.

 

II. A person must not commit offenses upon their fellow person. A person commits an offense if they—

1. Mislead, misrepresent, or lie with exception to situations where not doing so would reasonably lead to the harming of themselves or another.
2. Act in a duplicious manner to cheat or swindle for the basis of self gain.
3. Take what is not rightfully theirs with the exception of articles or items that violate this Mandate or would reasonably be used for the undue harming of themselves or another.
4.  Act with undue offensive contact or cause bodily injury, including battery and assault, with exception to situations of self-defense or in the defense of another.
5. Take another’s life with exception to situations where it is in punishment for an offense which is arbitrated by an Arbiter authorized on behalf of Tahariae, or where not doing so would reasonably lead to the immediate harming of themselves or another.

 

III. A person must not knowingly aid, abet, collaborate with, or assist impure beings with exception to situations of duress where not doing so would reasonably lead to the harming of themselves or another. 

1. Actions performed while under duress are to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are still subject to the full force of punishment up to and including the penalty of death, as is to be arbitrated by an Arbiter authorized on behalf of Tahariae.
2. An Arbiter must not work with a chapter of holy-mages, as they are deemed impure, unless if it is deemed: reasonable and proportionate to the situation where it is exercisable to save lives, or stop catastrophe.

 

IV. A person must reasonably act in opposition to impure beings, practitioners, and sources where it is excisable to save lives, with exception to situations where acting would reasonably lead to the harming of themselves or another, or cause catastrophe.

1. An Arbiter must act even if it would cause harm to themselves, unless it is deemed: liable to cause more undue harm than good, or it is not exercisable to save lives, or stop catastrophe.
2. A person must not knowingly create, distribute, possess, or use articles or items which are imbued with impure magic or are reasonably suspected to be capable of causing undue harm or catastrophe.
   1. Such items must be cleansed where reasonable and appropriate, or—
   2. Such items must be destroyed where where reasonable and appropriate, or—
   3. Such items which can not be reasonably cleansed or destroyed must be kept under close guard by an Arbiter authorized on behalf of Tahariae.

 

V. A person must reasonably act in defense of another when an undue offense is being committed against them, with exception to situations where acting would reasonably lead to the harming of themselves or another, or cause catastrophe.

1. An Arbiter must act even if it would cause harm to themselves, unless it is deemed: liable to cause more undue harm than good, or it is not exercisable to save lives, or stop catastrophe.
2. An Arbiter must heal those who are wounded where reasonable and appropriate, and—
3. An Arbiter must cleanse those who are corrupted where reasonable and appropriate.

 

 

 

The connection of an Arbiter is a grand event, as one commits their dedication to enforcing The Mandate of the heavens, and the virtues that Tahariae embodies. Should an Arbiter find one who is worthy enough to authorize as a fellow enforcer of good, they can choose to share Tahariae’s blessing with another.

MECHANICS

In order to be authorized as an Arbiter, an aspirant must stand before a tribunal of three [3] Arbiters. At least one [1] of the Arbiters that makes up the tribunal must be tier five [5] and have the TA. In the event of connection, the aspirant will be put on this lead Arbiter’s TA. The supporting Arbiters of the tribunal must be at least tier four [4].

 

The lead Arbiter must sanctify up to a ten by ten [10x10] area near a font of renewal that will form the tribunal, creating hardlight columns within the area akin to marble, along with any seating or stands.

 

The topics that are discussed during the tribunal are largely freeform. The aspirant could debate, be made to prove their memorization of the Mandates, discuss their convictions and hopes, or bring proof of a completed task to the tribunal.

Whatever method of discernment is made, at the end of the tribunal the Arbiters present must vote on whether the aspirant’s efforts were worthy or not, with a majority (two [2] out of three [3]) vote being needed for connection to take place. 

 

Should the aspirant receive a majority vote in favor, the aspirant will then need to wade into the font of renewal, and in a near-blinding flash of light their soul is authorized and blessed with holy light.

Should the aspirant receive a majority vote not in favor, the latent grace within the Font of Renewal will reject the aspirant, not allowing them to wade in, and they will be able to try again at a later date.

☰ OOC and IC consent is required to pass on Tahariae’s blessing. Should the connection rite be performed on an unwilling participant, it will have no effect and fail.

 

☰ This rite can not be performed during combat.

 

☰ This rite must occur at a font of renewal.

 

☰ Arbiters who are connected will forever have their soul marked by Tahariae’s blessing, and thus will not receive the slots back should they be disconnected from the magic.

 

☰ The Rite of Connection must be taught to a tier five [5] Arbiter prior to applying for a TA. It cannot be inferred or observed passively. This rite must be marked on the Arbiter’s MA prior to making a TA.

 

☰ Upon being connected, Arbiters learn the language Flexio and can read, speak, and write it. This is the default language utilized for their incantations, although other languages can be utilized so long as the function of the incantation remains the same. Dark languages such as Black-Speech and Ilzakarn can not be used for these incantations.

 

[T1] [PASSIVE] GRACE is the amount of holy light found in one’s soul, and is generated by calling upon Tahariae’s blessing. It is required to perform many great feats, and to cast the litany of incantations available to an Arbiter. However, a mortal soul, even one with Tahariae’s blessing, is not a perfect vessel for this light.

An Arbiter will start at zero [0] grace, and generate more as they call upon Tahariae’s light. An Arbiter is not a perfect vessel for his holy blessing, and as such, they can only expend a certain amount of grace before they are unable to cast further, as is determined by their tier which is listed below:

☰ Tier 2 : Four [4] grace per twelve [12] hours.

☰ Tier 3 : Six [6] grace per twelve [12] hours.

Should an Arbiter attempt to cast any incantations or perform any rites while at the maximum threshold, they will find that they are instead wracked with agonizing pain as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and fall unconscious for the rest of the encounter.

 

Utilizing grace to cast an incantation must also be accompanied with an appropriate magic tell. Though these tells can vary for flavor, they should remain within the realm of Tahariae’s domain. These tells should strictly remain within the color range of white or silver. These tells can include but are not limited to: glowing white light from about the Arbiter’s form, a crown of white ethereal stag horns, or shining silver eyes.

☰ Arbiters will start with zero [0] grace, and their grace will wear off over a period of twelve [12] OOC hours. 

 

☰ If an Arbiter attempts to cast an incantation while at their maximum grace threshold, they will instead be wracked with agonizing pain as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and will fall unconscious for the rest of the encounter. 

 

☰ An Arbiter may defend themselves while charging or casting a spell but may not sprint or attack.

[T1] [PASSIVE] MENTAL EFFECTS Tahariae’s blessing causes Arbiters to carry with them the constant feeling as though someone or something is judging them from just out of sight, as though Tahariae wishes for them to remember his expectations. This can, at first, be quite a nerve racking feeling, which can cause bouts of anxiety, stress, and even paranoia in new Arbiters, though eventually the feeling will fade to an uncomfortable itch in the back of one’s mind.

Arbiters are unable to wield two-handed weapons, nor are they able to wear heavy plate armor due to the strain that utilizing grace places upon them.

Though this ability is largely freeform, it is meant for the purpose of flavorful roleplay and storytelling.

Effects include: Bending light, creating and shaping light to depict a scene, refracting light akin to a prism to create a rainbow of colors, and hardening the light around them into various shapes.

This summon can then be used to assist the Arbiter with long treks through the descendant realm. It is only able to be used as a mount and serves no other purpose. Although this ability is largely freeform, the first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls forth Tahariae’s light, and the second should be summoning an ephemeral white or silver stag made of hardened light, and the third emote should be the Arbiter pr rider mounting upon their steed.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Revertamur.” while mounted upon their steed in order to have it ferry them away, such as bounding off into the sky, bounding through a portal of shimmering light, or dispersing into a ray of light in order to appear elsewhere. 

 

Although this ability is largely freeform, the emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, followed by the steed carrying them off to elsewhere through some means.

An Arbiter will find that as they grow more accustomed to Tahariae’s light, that they gain the ability to see the ambient and active mana within the world around them, for the purposes of locating impure magic to cleanse.

An Arbiter becomes more familiar with Tahariae’s blessing, they become able to discern the differences in the light and mana around them. Over the course of one [1] emote, they can choose to have sources of impure magic and mana glow a bright white within their vision. Structures and items that are imbued with impure magic and mana will become outlined in this light. Similarly, mages that actively utilize impure magics or mana will glow a bright white within the Arbiter’s vision.

 

Should an Arbiter see a source of impure magic within their vision, they will be filled with that silent and ever-present sensation of being judged, urging them to purge or confront that which is aberrant to the vision of purity. Though, they are by no means forced to do so.

☰ This ability does not tell the Arbiter specifically what kind of impure magic is being used, only that it is in fact being used.

☰ Impure magic is defined as any deific or dark magic, and magic that uses mana is defined as any neutral magic that uses mana or voidal magic.

An Arbiter may call upon Tahariae’s light in order to protect themselves or another from holy or dark magics. This shield negates holy and dark magic of tier three [3] or lower that comes into contact with it, and upon negating any spell the shield will dissipate.

An Arbiter may incant the following phrase, “Fides protegit.” in order to summon forth a shield of Tahariae’s light, either in front of the Arbiter or an ally. This shield negates holy and dark magic of tier three [3] or lower that comes into contact with it, and upon negating any spell the shield will dissipate. The shield lasts for three [3] emotes.

 

Items that pass through the shield that are enchanted with deific or dark magic will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes, though it will not protect the target from the physical attack.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, the second should be the Arbiter summoning forth an ephemeral shield of Tahariae’s light in front of either themself or an ally.

☰ In order to be shielded, a person must be within line of sight and within twenty [20] meters of the Arbiter. This shield lasts for a total of three [3] emotes, after which it will dissipate, even if it has not negated any spells.

☰ Physical projectiles, thrown weapons, and melee weapons will pass through the shield.

An Arbiter may call upon Tahariae’s light in order to pass judgment upon another person in order to mark them as ‘innocent’. A person that is marked in this manner will be blessed by a protective shimmer of Tahariae’s light, which will transfer attacks made upon the person to the Arbiter instead. Protecting the innocent generates verdicts.

An Arbiter may chant the following phrase, “Iudicatus innocens.” to call upon Tahariae’s light in order to pass judgment upon another person. A person who is judged by an Arbiter as innocent will find themselves covered in a thin shimmer of holy light, which will transfer magical attacks made upon the person to the Arbiter for a period of [3] emotes. 

An Arbiter may instead expend one [1] verdict as well as the required grace to harden the shimmer of light about the person who is judged, forming magical armor made of light, which will transfer both magical and physical attacks made upon the person to the Arbiter instead for a period of three [3] emotes.

 

The mark of innocence will dissipate after it has transferred three [3] attacks from the intended person to the Arbiter, or it will dissipate immediately if the mark transfers a voidal spell of tier [3] or higher.

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, and the second should be a protective shimmer of light forming over the person being marked.

An Arbiter may instead expend one [1] verdict as well as the required grace to cleanse certain physical afflictions. The light will harden about the forms of those within the area snuffing out any burning flames, easing any blindness, and lifting them to stand if they are knocked down.

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light followed by the creation of the ray of light and cleansing of the applicable effects.

Those who are marked as innocent, or have been marked as innocent during the encounter will be numbed of all pain while inside the dome. Those who are marked as guilty, or have been marked as guilty during the encounter will feel a heavy presence as though they are being judged from on high, causing a deep rooted sense of fear that renders them unable to attack while inside the dome.

 

This dome negates holy and dark magic of tier five [5] or lower that comes into contact with its edges, though physical projectiles and thrown weapons will pass through as normal. Items that are enchanted with holy or dark magic will be rendered inert of its properties for a period of three [3] emotes.

 

While inside the dome all other deific and dark magics take one [1] additional emote to be casted.

 

An Arbiter may instead expend two [2] verdicts as well as the required grace to harden the dome of light, which will also stop all physical projectiles and prevent physical passage through the dome, unless it is destroyed with three [3] blunt hits. The dome can be maintained for up to five [5] emotes.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, and the second should be a white light beginning to glow from within the Arbiter’s chest, and the third should be the light surging outwards to form a dome.

The second greatest of Tahariae’s gifts is that of healing. Few others have such a power over the mortal form to mend what is broken, and to restore what is impure. It is through these miraculous feats that Arbiters strive towards the vision of purity. 

 

Wounds that can be healed are categorized into the following categories:

 

Minor Wounds: Scrapes, Bruises and Lacerations. Everyday wounds that do not cause significant impairment.

Moderate Wounds: Gashes, Cuts, Punctures, and Dislocation. Wounds that are debilitating and cause moderate impairment.
Major Wounds: Broken Bones, Impalement, Dismemberment and Mutilation. Wounds that are severely debilitating and can cause permanent impairment or death.

 

MENDING

“Laesus reparare.”

An Arbiter may wish to relieve themselves or another of their pain and suffering. They may lay their hands upon an injured person and call forth Tahariae’s light to mend flesh together.

This incantation mends all minor, moderate, and major wounds such as cuts, gashes, impalements and broken bones. It can be used to stabilize someone who is on the brink of death, though it can not be used to restore lost limbs. The one who is being healed will feel a comforting warmth wash over them and leave behind a white glow in place of where the wounds once were.

 

In exchange for such expedient healing, all wounds that are mended in this way are transferred to the Arbiter that is performing the incantation. This is a one to one [1:1] ratio. If a broken bone is mended, then the Arbiter will have their bone broken in the same location.

 

Those who are on the brink of death and stabilized this way will still be too exhausted from the healing process to be able to further contribute to the fight.

 

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, and the second should be the Arbiter’s hands beginning to glow as they are placed upon the person’s form, and the third should be the transfer of wounds from the person to the Arbiter.

 

REDLINES

☰ Mercy can heal minor, moderate, and major wounds and stabilize someone who is on the brink of death by transferring such wounds to the Arbiter. Although it can not be used to restore missing body parts such as eyes or limbs if they have been completely severed and such wounds can not be transferred. The ratio of wounds transferred is one to one [1:1]. If a broken bone is mended, then the Arbiter will have their bone broken in the same location.

 

☰ If this incantation is used to heal a major wound, it will fill the Arbiter with a warmth and hope that lessens the burden of Tahariae’s light, clearing all their generated grace in the process.

[T2][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF LESSER HEALING may be performed to repair some forms of mundane harm to a person’s form. Mending together bone, organ and flesh alike, though it can not be used to restore missing limbs or more severe wounds.

This rite must be performed by at least one Arbiter of tier two [2] or higher, and have been taught this rite. An Arbiter can call upon Tahariae’s light to mend a mortal’s form that has been broken over the course of three [3] emotes when outside of combat.

Though this rite can vary for flavor, it should follow these core aspects; The first emote should be the Arbiter speaking an incantation in order to call upon Tahariae’s light, the second should be the Arbiter laying their hands upon the person to be healed, and the third should be the person’s wounds beginning to knit back together.

 

This rite does not come without a cost, those who are healed with this rite will have glowing white scars in place of their wounds for a period of one [1] OOC week, or longer with OOC consent, before dissipating. The process of healing is excruciatingly painful for the one being healed as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and the process inflicts great emotional strain of anxiety and paranoia on the Arbiter performing it as it exacerbates the eternal feeling of Tahariae’s silent judgment.

 

REDLINES

☰ The rite of healing must be led by one [1] tier two [2] or higher Arbiter who has learned the rite.

 

☰ This rite can heal some manners of mundane harm to a mortal form, though can not be used to bring someone beyond the threshold of death.

[T4][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF SANCTIFIED TRIBUNAL allows two Arbiters to come together to sanctify an area within which they may conduct a fair investigation and trial, without risk of outside influence.

MECHANICS

This rite must be performed by at least one Arbiter of tier four [4] or higher, and have been taught this rite, with the assistance of at least one [1] Arbiter of any tier. These arbiters may call upon Tahariae’s light in order to sanctify and create a tribunal area that is no larger than a fifteen by fifteen [15x15] space over the course of four [4] emotes.

 

This rite creates a sanctified area, in which all people present are unable to knowingly lie, including the Arbiters conducting the tribunal. Those present are not required to tell the objective truth, and may mislead by omitting information or by telling half-truths. 

 

Those who attempt to knowingly lie will be overcome with an impossibly heavy presence as though they are being judged from on high, causing a deep rooted sense of fear that renders them unable to continue their sentence, as though their heart may be gripped by a sudden heart attack if they continue.

The first emote should start with the incantation being spoken as the Arbiter calls upon Tahariae’s light, the second should be a white glowing border forming around the area, the third should be the formation of any hardlight structures within the area, and the fourth should be the area becoming completely veiled in holy light.

 

REDLINES

☰ The rite of sanctified tribunal must be led by one tier four [4] or higher Arbiter who has learned the rite, and performed with the assistance of at least one [1] Arbiter of any tier.

 

☰ The established tribunal area can not exceed fifteen by fifteen [15x15] blocks, and lasts until the lead Arbiter leaves the area, or two [2] OOC hours have passed, following all capture rules. The area is allowed to last longer with OOC consent from all parties.

 

☰ Those present within the area are unable to ask direct yes or no questions, but may ask open ended questions. For example, “Are you a darkspawn?” would not be a permissible question, but, “What do you know of the infernal arts?” would be permissible.

☰ Once the sanctified tribunal is established, those outside of the area may not enter, and those inside of the area may not leave. Those outside of the area can not see into or hear the tribunal, nor can those inside of the area see out of or hear outside of the tribunal, as it is shrouded by a veil of Tahariae’s light.

 

☰ Attempting to initiate conflict within the tribunal area will cause it to immediately dissipate.

 

☰ This rite can not be used to metagame in any capacity.

 

 

[T4][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF GREATER HEALING may be performed to repair almost all forms of mundane harm to a person’s form. Mending together bone, organ and flesh alike, as well as restoring missing limbs or other body parts.

This rite must be performed by at least one [1] Arbiter of tier four [4] or higher that has been taught this rite. An Arbiter can call upon Tahariae’s light to mend a mortal’s form that has been broken and severed over the course of four [4] emotes when outside of combat.

 

Though this rite can vary for flavor, it should follow these core aspects; The first emote should be the Arbiter speaking the incantation to call upon Tahariae’s light, the second emote should be the Arbiter laying their hands upon the person to be healed, the third emote should be light beginning to glow from the Arbiter’s hands, and the fourth should be the wounds mending. 

 

This rite can be used to restore a person’s missing limb, though it will regrow with an appearance of white stone akin to marble, or the Arbiter may elect to instead craft the limb out of hardened light. A limb regrown or crafted by this rite can withstand three [3] blunt attacks within an encounter before being rendered as destroyed.

 

This rite does not come without a cost, those who are healed with this rite will have glowing white scars in place of their wounds for a period of one [1] OOC week, or longer with OOC consent, before dissipating. The process of healing is excruciatingly painful for the one being healed as though Tahariae’s light is burning them from the inside out, and the process inflicts great emotional strain of anxiety and paranoia on the Arbiter performing it as it exacerbates the eternal feeling of Tahariae’s silent judgment.

☰ The rite of healing must be led by one [1] tier four [4] or higher Arbiter who has learned the rite, and can only be performed once every three [3] OOC days.

 

☰ This rite can heal all manners of mundane harm to a mortal form, though can not be used to bring someone beyond the threshold of death.

 

☰ This rite takes too long to heal lethal wounds, though if a lethally wounded person was stabilized through some other means, this rite could then be used.

☰ This rite can be used to heal minor, moderate, and major wounds, including but not limited to: Missing limbs, missing eyes, missing tongues, mundane paralysis due to a spinal injury, broken bones, and organ damage.

 

☰ This rite can only heal one missing limb at a time, and must be performed multiple times to restore more than one limb.

 

☰ Limbs regrown with this rite will appear stonelike, akin to white marble, or may be crafted of hardened light. A limb regrown or crafted with this rite will weigh twice as much as a normal limb, rendering it inherently more clumsy. A limb regrown or crafted by this rite can withstand three [3] blunt attacks within an encounter before being rendered as destroyed. It must be ST signed in order to be considered valid.

 

 

[T5][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF GREATER PURGING can be performed to purge a soul of impure soul-afflictions, diseases, curses, marks, and hexes. Though there are limits to what an Arbiter can purge with their authorization of Tahariae’s light.

☰ The rite of greater purging must be performed by at least one [1] Arbiter of tier five [5] or higher that has been taught this rite and two [2] Arbiters of any tier, and can only be performed once every three [3] OOC days.

 

☰ The rite of greater purging requires OOC consent, although IRP consent is not required. 

 

☰ The Arbiters performing the rite must know or have a reasonable IRP explanation to suspect that the person is afflicted in some manner. This can not be used to metagame by any means.

☰ This rite can be used to cleanse the following MAs, CAs, and FAs, specifically: Feat and Ordained Heralds, Cursed Children, Voidally Mutated Children, Voidstalkers, Arcane Scions, Lycanthropes, and Corcictura. This rite may be used, even if the soul-affliction in question states it is beyond the time frame of being cursed.

 

 

 

The greatest of Tahariae’s gifts is that of renewal through defeat. Though Arbiters are a tool and extension to fulfill the vision of purity, only the most leal, faithful and successful of his followers will come to know the true measure of Tahariae’s gifts. For he seeks to maintain and keep those Arbiters of his who have proven themselves quality servants, worthy of his efforts.
 

 

 

[T5][STRUCTURE] THE FONT OF RENEWAL are consecrated reflective pools formed of Tahariae’s holy light, which refract in a brilliant display of colors and heavenly glow. Arbiters who wade within the pools will be healed of all mundane wounds, and will be restored to a youthful health and appearance. This font is also where Arbiters will emerge from in the event that they perish.

MECHANICS

Fonts of Renewal are areas that has been overwhelmed with a vast amount of Tahariae’s light, and as such Arbiters are able to sanctify an area through which they may heal themselves of all mundane wounds, including but not limited to: cuts, gashes, organ damage, broken bones, paralyzation, and limb loss. The flesh will mend and knit back together over the course of a few narrative hours. It will also restore the Arbiters to a youthful health and appearance, as the holy light seeks to repair and mend all aspects of their form.

 

When Tahariae’s blessing is invoked, it is at one of these fonts of renewal that an Arbiter who perishes from lethal wounds will revive at.

Despite the term ‘pool’, the font is actually formed of light- and as such, is not wet like a pool of water might be. Wading into it will provide a gentle numbing warmth and feel more akin to weightlessness or freefalling than swimming, and can be created anywhere where there is access to open sunlight.

 

Fonts can be no larger than a ten by ten [10x10] area, and must be a structure that is either a pool in appearance or is a concentration of light. Only three [3] fonts of renewal can exist on a map at any given time. In order to create a new font if there are already three [3], then one [1] of the already existing ones must be destroyed. 

 

To destroy a font, at least one [1] Arbiter of tier [5] who has been taught the Rite of Sanctity and two [2] Arbiters of at least tier [4] can come together to revoke the authorization of Tahariae’s light within the area, causing it to dissipate over the course of three [3] emotes. 

 

Dark magic may also be used to corrupt the pool of light. In order to do so, one dark mage of tier five [5] or higher with the assistance of at least two [2] dark mages of any tier can come together to funnel maleus, stagnant lifeforce, or ectoplasm into the font of renewal to corrupt it. A corrupted font of renewal can not be used to revive an Arbiter, and any Arbiter that enters a corrupted font of renewal will begin to rapidly age. The rite of greater purging must be performed in order to cleanse a corrupted font of renewal.

 

REDLINES

☰ In order to create a font, the Seraph that is creating it must have appropriate access to build in the area, although PRO/RO permission is not required. Fonts can not be created during combat.

 

☰ Only three [3] fonts of renewal can exist on a map at any given time.

 

☰ Fonts must be mechanically accessible, with at least one wall of the font having direct access to sunlight, and must not be locked behind excessive doors. What is defined as excessive doors is left to staff discretion, but typically is considered to be more than three [3] locked doors.

 

☰ Fonts can be no larger than a ten by ten [10x10] area.

 

☰ Fonts can only mend the wounds of and restore youth to connected Arbiters.

 

☰ The font of renewal will restore one to their prime age, essentially the equivalent of early to mid twenties for a human, and no younger than that.

[T5][NON-COMBATIVE] THE RITE OF SANCTITY is the rite in which a tier five [5] Arbiter who knows this rite may create a Font of Renewal with the assistance of two [2] Arbiters of tier four [4] or higher.

The Arbiter may sanctify a physical pre-existing structure to become the Font of Renewal, or may create it out of Tahariae’s light which has been hardened. Though a Font of Renewal requires direct sunlight in order to sustain itself, and thus may not be built underground.

 

Though this rite can vary for flavor, it should follow these core aspects; The first emote should be the Arbiters speaking the incantation to call upon Tahariae’s light, the second should be a glowing white border forming about the area to be sanctified, the third should be a bright glow beginning to fill the area, and the fourth should be the light completely filling the sanctified area.

☰ The Arbiter who leads this rite is unable to call upon Tahariae’s light for a period of one [1] OOC day afterwards.

☰ This rite is unique and is not required in order for an Arbiter to apply for a TA.

 

 

[T1][PASSIVE] TAHARIAE’S BLESSING  is the means through which Tahariae protects his Arbiters through death with his holy light. His blessing will automatically be enacted to ensure his leal servants are able to continue to enact and enforce the vision of purity and uphold justice.

MECHANICS

This blessing can only be placed upon an Arbiter of tier one [1] or higher and is inherently received upon being connected. 

 

Upon receiving lethal wounds and perishing, this effect will be enacted automatically by Tahariae’s blessing. The Arbiter’s soul will return from the soulstream to a font of renewal over the course of one [1] OOC day. Arbiters who are renewed in this manner will emerge from the pool of light changed, if slightly. Their hair and eyes will reform in shades of white, grey, or silver, this may come in streaks that progress the more times an Arbiter is renewed, or all at once.

 

Upon renewal, they will not remember any specific pieces of information regarding their death, though they are aware that they have died and will be forced to contend with the despair of their failure. As such they are wracked with an intense feeling of that ever-lingering judgment being cast upon them, wracking them with anxiety and guilt, and they will be unable to generate grace for a period of three [3] OOC days.

 

If there is no font of renewal available for an Arbiter to reform from, then they will remain within the soulstream until one is created through which they may emerge from, and thus will be unplayable during that time.
 

REDLINES

☰ Connected Arbiters can not use monk revival. Tahariae’s blessing is the only method through which they may be revived when they die.

☰ The character will be unable to be played for a period of one [1] OOC day as they go through the process of renewing.

☰ After renewing, they will find themselves at a font of renewal, and will be unable to generate grace for three [3] OOC days.

 

☰ The Arbiter will have all of their equipment and clothing that they had when they died upon renewing. They will not be naked.

☰ If there is no Font of Renewal, they will be unable to renew themselves, and thus will remain unplayable until a new one is created.

 

☰ This rite can not be used to metagame information about the circumstances of one’s death. The Arbiter is only left with the lingering despair of having failed Tahariae, and maintains no memories about the circumstances of their death.

 

 

 

 

Should an Arbiter determine that another Arbiter is unfit to serve the vision of purity, such as a lack of moral character, a breaking of the Mandates, or for other reasons, they may carefully weigh the option of disavowing Tahariae’s blessing within their fellow Arbiter. This is seen as a last recourse and a terrible act, because Tahariae has little tolerance for further failure and thus will not give his blessing a second time.

In order to be disavowed as an Arbiter, the one to be disavowed must stand before a tribunal of three [3] Arbiters, all of which must be tier [5] and know this rite. 

 

The lead Arbiter must sanctify up to a ten by ten [10x10] area that will form the tribunal, creating hardlight columns within the area akin to marble, along with any seating or stands. The topics that are discussed during the tribunal are largely freeform. The one to be disavowed could debate, be made to prove their memorization of the Mandates, discuss their convictions and hopes, or bring proof of a completed task to the tribunal.

Whatever method of discernment is made, at the end of the tribunal the Arbiters present must vote on whether the Arbiter’s efforts were worthy or not, with a majority (two [2] out of three [3]) vote being needed for disconnection to take place. 

 

Should the Arbiter receive a majority vote in favor of disconnection, glowing white writ of the Mandates will form over the Arbiter’s form and in a near-blinding burst of light the authorization of Tahariae’s holy light will leave them.

Should the aspirant receive a majority vote not in favor of disconnection, then the latent grace within the area will dissipate, and they will remain connected.

☰ The Rite of Disavowment can only be taught to a tier five [5] Arbiter. It cannot be inferred or observed passively, and must be actively taught. This rite must be marked on the Arbiter’s MA. Disconnections are only valid if all the Arbiters performing it meet these qualifications.

 

☰ Three [3] tier five [5] Arbiters who have been taught this rite are required to perform it.

 

☰ Although this rite is freeform, it requires at least six [6] well written emotes.

I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be funny if minecraft user Ibleesian wrote a holy magic?” So here we are. Clerics have had a storied past with a lot of issues and pain points, both in terms of community and lore. 

 

I wanted to step away from those things and give Tahariae’s recent rewrite a new magic. Healing and Support magic is an archetype that can tend to be bland, and difficult to balance due to its tendency to simply wipe away roleplay impact. I believe I’ve struck a good balance between lasting roleplay while still fulfilling the class fantasy of a support.
