After like 7 years on this server, I've finally gotten around to making one of these properly. Ask me anything, I suppose.

The ever-expected "What's your favourite character that you've had the opportunity to RP with?" and "Most memorable and fun RP?" questions. But also, do you have any manner of advice when it comes to just having the most fun you can have in this server? : >

Idrk...

Just kidding. I hope to be around to watch the server improve and hopefully contribute to that improvement. Over the span of my seven years of activity on the server, I've watched LOTC go from a vastly toxic community where DDOSing and general degeneracy were a common and semi-frequent issue. It has become slightly less of a toxic dump thanks to the efforts of moderation and a maturing playerbase, though we've a long way to go still. Now that I've had the chance to mature myself, I want to help improve the server on my end by leading by example through the nurturing of communities and playerbases with minimal OOC asshattery.

I actually have a few here. I'm afraid this is going to be a very long reply.

In recent memory, I've loved engaging with @molly molly molly's character Greiret. Molly's a generally outstanding roleplayer who does not get enough credit where it is due. Every time I stumble across Greiret, Molly's portrayal of such an old character who has seen so much improves.

@TheWhiteWolfis another player who's characters I've had great fun interactive with. Astark was the one I had the most contact with. And their character concept as a Wight was super interesting. The Court of Salvation deserved so much more. It was created to serve as a splinter from the Synod, a mystic faction dedicated to crafting an entire realm where the souls of the corrupted could exist safely in death without festering in the ebrietaes or moz stimoza. Astark is a character I wish I got to see more of. Wolf as a whole is one of the best faith roleplayers and community leads I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. They deal with everything thrown at them in good spirits and their engagement with the community is honestly a blessing.

@kuebikois another player who doesn't get enough recognition imo. I've interacted with both Iolas and Asahiko and both are roleplayed exceedingly well and are emoted in such a way that the RP flow is natural and constant.

Older characters include @Keening's Lothric Atmorice, who players one of Valindra's biological uncles. Their dynamic nowadays is interesting to say the least.

Another would be @Xalid's Jakkir Atmorice, the other favourite biological uncle of Valindra. I miss Xalid.

This is to say that I have engaged with so many interesting characters that I really couldn't give you a favourite one.

In terms of favourite [singular] encounters...

1. @Werew0lf's character Malik turned Valindra into a crow after she implied she had indecent relations with his mother. This led to what could only be described as utter chaos. A GTA-V Style police chase on horseback across the entire map, being dragged into an azdrazi library, sitting in on necro meetings and eventually spending a lot of time hidden in Iolas's satchel. It's some of the most entertaining roleplay I've had in a while.

2. Watching Merrith and the Maheral engage in a wrestling match.

3. Playing deathroll with Caelria, Sacred, Nook and Minnie's sillumir characters mid-almaris.

4. A more serious one but the immediate aftermath of the failed Mages Guild expedition into the Ando Alur ruins. My character lost her two closest friends, who had their souls utterly obliterated. This had such a profound impact on Valindra that she decided to become an arcane scion after a century of being regular voidal mage.

And FIIIIINALLYYYYY

Enjoying the server is not difficult once you let go of your ooc feelings and focus on contributing to the story as well as going along with little bumps in the road icly rather than trying to oocly prevent them. Character development can come in many forms and once you embrace that it makes life on the server ten times better...

Also avoiding OOC drama or engaging with it to focus on the IC world has definitely made my life on LOTC more enjoyable. I try to avoid problematic scenarios OOCly but also try to engage with as many people as I can. You'll still find that some people are not people you want to vibe with but the server is huge so there are plenty of ways of keeping clear of them.

Valindra is a character that I've come to understand is rather polarizing both ICly and OOCly, due to her extensive lore and characterization choices that have ultimately led to a well-rounded persona (or so I see her!). Have you ever struggled with people's perception of her as a character, or even you as a player? How have you personally overcome the server's OOC bias against void and darkspawn-adjacent players, and what do you recommend to newer players hoping to dip their feet in?

I remember when Valindra and Grimruk built a snowman on the haense bridge during the frost witch happening. Do you have plans to PK Valindra if she dies?

Favourite genre?

Are there any forum posts you found particularly cool or interesting? Missives and the like.

Now that you're an NL does it feel like you have a big hat on your head?

Also thank you for the mentions, I enjoy roleplaying with you immensely and wish I happened to be in the same place as you more often

People will believe ICly and OOCly what they want to believe. Reactions are part of what makes her role on the server so interesting. In terms of overcoming biases, I've spent a while mulling this over and I've found again that overcoming OOC biases must begin with the community itself disproving stereotypes. Valindra is a complex character, wishing to be good but caught between both light and dark.  She's done great things but also terrible things and that duality has stemmed often from IC biases, where my character means well but it either doesn't work out other IC views have left her isolated from more lawful and good aligned characters. Evil can be born from many things, and in Valindra's instance, it came from isolation. At the start, all she ever wanted was to be loved and over the years, the times she received validation and support to soothe her inferiority complex was from people who understood the meaning behind being an outcast. Times are changing though and more recently, she's had her sights set upon redemption thanks to the support of less dark-aligned peers. It's been a really good storyline just going with the flow and thanks to characters like Avern'dionne, Greiret and Villorik, a redemption arc is on the horizon.

That was a goofy little encounter and one I really enjoyed. Sometimes its the small encounters that really build a character. Also yes, I've thought about PKing her a number of times. Most recently, as Llir and Molly can attest, I did have a plan to wrap up her story only for me to be pulled into NL-dom. I think, in the end, she'll go in one of two ways, either in pursuit of redemption or kicking and streaming with no in betweens.

Music genre, I've been getting into techno metal  like electric callboy. I love Lady Gaga as well at the moment. As a filthy european who never outgrew her emo phase, the rasmus is also up there. I also really like video game soundtracks. As a huge fan of the fallout series, I've also got a slight pull towards music from or based off of the 40s, 50s and 60s. Dean Martin, Nat King Cole are up there for me.

Movie- thriller.

Books, I'm a huge fan of Malorie Blackman. Other than that, I've just finished reading Of Mice and Men again.

Posts? Plenty. I've an appreciation for player suggestion and feedback posts.

Xarkly's posts regarding the progression and thoughts of Villorik were a really fascinating read. I love taking deep dives into the the minds of characters and I wish people explored their character's feelings more often.

Any of WowJ's grub bucket posts give me a giggle whenever I open them. [No, he did not pay me to say this]

Secondly, being NL is terrifying. Its my first time NLing and it could not have come at a stranger time. Metaplay is something that has been integrated with  nation-running for OOC years now and with a number of players [including realm leads] being shot for it, I'm a little nervous. Its up to the NLs now to set the roleplay standard, and I really hope to lead by example. It's also a big learning curve. A whole list of new commands, treasury, vassal and tile maintenance which I had not been prepared for [I had never planned nor really wanted to be a Nation leader at all during my time on LOTC] . Thankfully, I have some very awesome friends who have helped me get the gist of commands and a bunch of characters ICly who have stepped forward to get the ball rolling.

Long story short, its a huge hat, yes and a heavy one but people have been really supportive in helping me adjust.

Also ily kuebiko. Thank you for being awesome.
