Announcing 10.0 Map Development

It’s been a long time since we’ve set our sights on new shores, and I’m pleased to finally be able to announce the next step in our journey: Arcadia.

 

With this new map, we wanted to take a very different, high fantasy approach to map development. It’s early stages for the worldpainter at the moment, but you’ll notice in the concept map below that we’ve decided on a number of seldom used biomes that we’ll be taking the time to really build out in detail so folks will want to settle in each one. 

 

 

We also took a look at the amount of owned tiles on Aevos and figured that nations were too close together in some places which has caused a number of conflicts. As a result, Arcadia will be about 20% bigger than Aevos in terms of landmass. I believe this maths out to about 40 additional tiles.

 

Nation and Lair Land Selection for 10.0

 

While land selection is still probably 5-6 months out, I wanted to address it ahead of time. To ensure a fair and equal chance for all groups to select prime real estate, the order of selections shall be conducted by roulette wheel. For the sake of transparency, a recording of the entire wheel spinning will be posted tomorrow afternoon around 4pm EST.
