Now I'm no bearded elf, but I'll try to answer some of these with the stuff I've picked up.

-- Take these with a pinch of salt, I might just be a moron.

Is that to say we are moving again or did we never move in the first place?

Never moved in the first place. I'm pretty sure we haven't switched away from limestone yet.

If we never moved in the first place.. how have we avoided a DDoS attack until now? Did they simply stop? If they stopped periodically, what were we doing to prevent it from occurring again?

I guess so. Think we were waiting to switch hosts 'till we got attacked again.

Lastly, are we going to have to move hosts every time we experience an attack?

Hopefully not. I hear that switching hosts can be expensive.

I love that rendering It's so beautiful. I've always thought the beauty of the world we rp in represents what LotC can do as a community when we are working together and what we can accomplish when we all work towards, and are excited for a common goal.

I had another server, a much smaller server, that kept coming under attack from griefing and small whitelist hacking. Though it wasn't too much of a problem at first, the IP of the server was posted onto a griefing and hacking website and they came under pretty heavy fire. Point is, they had to switch IP's only due to that, and hosts only when their previous host had screwed them over and deleted all of their files. It was expensive for two small-time guys that didn't even know each other to keep switching IP's and eventually hosts. It's an annoying problem to deal with, and that was only griefers and small time hackers. This is constant DDoS'ing day after day with the IP for all to see and never changing, so that just makes things even harder.

We should have a party and not invite the ddosers, that would teach them a lesson.

What texture pack is used in the picture? I like it.

I used LB photo-realism as the texture pack.

About the DDoSers.. is there a way to block incoming pings to the server? Because the only DDoS I can think of off hand is: [CENSORED FOR OBVIOUS REASONS] and that runs off the fact that an IP allows pings. Can pings be blocked without breaking the server?

EDIT: Maybe cap the amount of pings per second per computer and limit the size so that if it's too big it will not accept it?

There are many forms of DDoS attacks, The most common kind uses a local program to send pings. Could be anything from a ring of computers "like your school", or a more widespread program using email/websites/social media devices. Generally they require each device to send such a small load of data that the users don't even know they are aiding in the attacks.

Then there is a totally different sort of DDoS, which is most likely being used in these attacks. They use expensive computers and a strong network or several networks to Jam very large chunks of data to a site. They are very difficult to prevent due to the complexity of the attacks, They can do anything from attempting to log into an account several thousand times a second, to forcing extremely large requests for data from the server. Each ping request, or data request has to be responded to from the server even if they are all denied.

There are several ways to "ease" the strain on the site, but generally its the network you are hosting from itself, and your individual data limits that become an issue. They spend thousands of dollars to launch such attacks with the intent to cripple you both bandwidth wise and budget wise. Its the new form of siege warfare and very difficult to battle against.
