  1. 1. How should we go about the Soulstone Pillar System?

    • Able to bind to One Soulstone pillar at a time.
    • Limited Unlockable Soulstone pillars throughout world, depending on donator rank.
    • Infinitely Unlockable Soulstone Pillars throughout the world. They're accessible after they've been unlocked.
    • Other, I'll post a comment of my brilliant idea.
    • None, I dislike Soulstone Pillars

The only problem I am seeing with making infinite soul-stones for everybody is that there is a big loss in motive for people to donate. Although it is a nice thought for all people to donate only out of the kindness of their heart, and because they want to see this server prosper (Although some do, to whom we owe great thanks) many take big consideration into what they are also getting out of the deal in game. I understand we do not want to put this game on the route to free2play games, but I feel like the soul-stone system was a happy medium in not giving players advantages, yet rewarding those who donate.

A few weeks ago we were having budget issues on keeping the server running, I do not know if this is still the case, but I feel it unwise to throw out the bits of motivation we have leading people to donate. Just my two cents, please don't flame me if you disagree.

You do know this poll is rigged as far as voting right? Donators to nondonators, it's a bad poll. If you're set on having piller soulstones, then you also have to worry about campers waiting to rob people at said piller locations. More reports and modreqs then there's mobs spawning near them. Just stick with soulstones and restricted setting them in places your not allowed to.

We have competent coders now. Once everything is smoothed out, people will donate because this server will be even more amazing than ever, and it will be its own reward.

I think we should keep the same amount of soulstones that each rank had before donating and then make it so you can't set a soulstone in areas that you cannot build.(excluding the Cloud Temple)

While I like this idea, it proves a small problem for some people like myself, who have a small place off int he far distance. I have a character who keeps a tiny farm off in the middle of nowhere in order to go hunting for wild game and products to supply her tavern back in the city. Without my soulstone set there, I'll never be able to find it again, nor will I be able to get the products I need to keep my tavern alive.

If we can build a pillar from our own emeralds, rping it out as paying for the monks to build and send one out, I think I would like the pillar idea a bit more. A counter to it is making the pillar cost not only the emeralds needed to make the blocks, but a labor fee and shipping fee and installation fee, then an activation fee. This will make it slightly difficult for people to have a pillar obtained other than a capital city, but still possible.

But that's just my two floofs.

Can we fix the server before we try adding more things to it? It's a major pain dying to lag outs and chunk errors. Walking back to meet with others met with a lag death by a mob or a chunk not loading followed by a long walk back resulting in another death trying to get back is turning into a chore and making playing on lotc not fun.

Soulstone-broken

Fast travel-broken

Please fix these before changing them please. I know trying to change or fix someone else's code is really a pain. But I'm getting the feeling you guys didn't copy auslon and TEST on your own server before messing with his codes. Best of luck I know you two have a long road ahead of you. Please fix these two things first before trying to make new things please.

As for the main topic you two had it right with permissions and not being able to set soulstone in areas that you werent a resident of, keep to that.

I agree with you. But they have to recode the whole soulstone plugin anyway. So they are asking for people's opinions on it before they code the thing.

I think having unlimited unlockable Soul Pillars would detract highly from the RP gained by traveling around the world. You see, it could be easily abused. Instead of armies marching to a city, they could all teleport ere willy-nilly to conquer it. I don't see much fun in that for either side.

I am definitely for having the ability to choose one Soul Pillar at a time, but not more than that.

Would it be possible to have both options? But you have to go through officials of the cpitals to be able to use your soulstone for that area, Plus also being able to have your own soulstone location for people like deco who do live out in the middle of nowhere.

Also the benefit to the nations soulstone's could be that they do not need to recharage or that they take a considerably less amount of time. When I first joined the server I used to live in Menorcress, the main city for the Mori. When I died I didn't feel liek waiting 10 minutes to soulstone back so i swam the entire way. When I got there I still have 400 to 200 seconds left untell it refreshed. Meaning I could SWIM(no boat) before my soulstone recharged.

So in other words I would love to have both options to keep people happy. And I would like the beacond to have to be unlocked through roleplay only, and not through just finding ti and right clicking on it. There is plenty of room here for customization aswell that I could go on forever, But I would rather just leave it at this.

I actually tried my hand at a few Soul Obelisk things...

(It would be awesome to call them Soul Obelisks. :) )

I tried a few altars depending on racial affiliation/location:

Example:

Orc:

gOvtq.png

Elf:

wzMrS.png

Or have Soul Braziers like this one with varying material depending on location or surrounding materials:

9NgfI.png

(There's a third emerald block in between the four steps on the bottom)

Other than that, I think we should have an initial one bind location and then more depending on your donor rank. Keep that perk for donating as I'm sure it's one of the main reasons why people donate.

And as for character cards... brilliant! As a person with alot of different characters, that's awesome!

Summary:

Proposed name: Soul Obelisk

Take the form of an altar/brazier, material depending on location?

The Aegis system centralized RP the best. Give everyone a base soulstone location as the capital of their race, or at least the metropolitan area for that race just like in Aegis. It encourages people to roleplay in that location, and it centralizes a race's roleplay just like in Aegis. Remember how every human town had a direct road back to Al'Khazar? We don't have that in Asulon, the roads are ridiculous and everywhere now and the odds of bumping into someone is slim to none. If you have not donated your soul is locked to the race metro city, if you have donated $25 you can choose to move your soulstone location, and if you donate $50 you get 2 soulstone locations of your choice. No more because it can cause issues. Do not give soulstone locations of a person's choice to a non-donator, I don't care if it is not fair for people who can't donate, tough luck maybe some day you will, but our server needs money and our roads need to be more traveled.

I want inns and small towns between metro areas to be active again. Now everyone can teleport between areas with no consequences, bandits can't thrive, road/travel rp can't thrive, tavern rp can't thrive. It is boring! Most of my great rp experiences in Aegis started in an Inn or on the road. I am also for removing all fast travel accept boats. The horse system works for Asulon because it is massive, but 3.0 is not going to be nearly as large so remove the horses. They take away rp that could be had by instantly teleporting people to a location without there being a delay. My suggestion (though no one will likely see it) is that boat fast travel remains, however it is on a half hour delay and only for long distances. When you are in a town with a boat you get an automated message

*You hear a young boy yelling that the boat to Elftown is casting off in 20 minutes*

then you go on the boat and you are transported to a boat in the middle of the ocean (an inaccessible area outside the general map) and you remain there for a few minutes with everyone else who is traveling so there is some boat rp. Then you arrive at your destination.

I have to say I like the pillar idea but think our originally soulstone system is better. I would say, yes to pillar idea but limit two soulstones for non-donators. One for Cloud temple, and other to their choosing or another one for their character's city location. Donators can have another soulstone location depending on the VIP you donated for.

Less soulstone, would drive some people to boredom. Face it, not alot of people roleplay on the roads will in Asulon but if 3.0 is similar to Aegis then people would not use soulstones alot. Some people like myself want to get interaction from people so couple of soulstones is easier to travel, hardly any interaction from people less progression with your character(s).

The soulstone pillar idea I feel is too complicated. The original system works just fine without over complicating things. Despite this, I love the character card ideas! It would make switching between characters so much easier, allowing you to experience so much more exciting RP.

Great job, keep up the good work!
