Update:: The new Money Management System

I do have to ask... How much money did Oren had? Because from what I know about others it was something like 100 000 at least, but probably closer to 1 000 000. How much did it pay each soldier per week? I played a soldier once, I received 100 minas per IRL week, I received more for 15 min of hunting, or a trip by foot from Silva to Arethor. Even if it was 100 minas per day, they would need 3 months to buy a diamond armor. How much were the taxes and of what? I remember seeing something like 20 stacks of wheat an IRL week on the huge farm, and things like 2 stacks of it for small farms. That may be easy to get, but it is still quite a lot, and not in minas. Also what did you use all that wheat on? I never saw a nation ask for workers or big amount of materials, but considering with 1000 minas you can buy 2 chest full of stone bricks, they wouldn't need much minas for it. Workers probably ain't paid much as well for building, and a lot do it for free to have something to do. I know this, because I do it. Then there are those that work for free, those that don't actually work but do the same thing, lords actually get payed the taxes of their town, houses that are bought with no taxes, houses that are too expensive to be bought, etc. Then what about miners? How do you pay them? They gather diamonds that are worth 250 minas each, for one hour a miner gains more minas than a soldier in a month. I hope all these things are though of for 3.0 because right now, they aren't working.

Silverblades alone had 1 million minas. Then there was Hightowers and the Empire itself. Much, much, more then 1 million minas.

This new economy plugin with the horrible system of exchanging iron/diamond for emeralds messed up the whole economy and it's prices. If 1 diamond is 2 emerald what the hell is going to be the price of 1 piece of bread? 0.05 minas? No dang sense. At least exchange iron/diamond for emeralds at the current market price...

The exchange prices are changing, check the OP shortly. I talked with the one who made that decision and changed it.

Upon retrospect, this seems like a pretty terrible idea.

Why on earth would you implement this without some kind of poll first?

There's almonst no positive response on the thread, and this system is so ridiculously cumbersome and unwieldy -it hurts-.

You also made no effort whatsoever to sustain the wealth of IMPORTANT RP factions, or at least to inform them first. This is seriously disruptive to the whole SERVER. Empires and nations are now literally penniless. Why? The fact that Mogroka, an admin, does not appear to have even been informed of this thing (I'm judging by his post) is nothing short of ridiculous.

Yes the old system sucked, but you could have left it in long enough for notes to be converted to Emeralds first, it would have made the transition easier, with little to no issues. Even to take some quick note keeping and take alook at everyones mina note value (probably much more work) and then just send them that much. It's not that people don't like the change, it's that the economy disappeared along with everyone's cash.

And to take IoUs and the like, that won't work, Sure you might run into someone willing to do it, or a few, but when you're starving and you really need that food, and the baker refuses to take promises?

I first want to make the point, yes, we all know that everybody (or almost everybody) doesn't like this change, and that all your money is now gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm sad that I lost my money too, but we need to get past that, as it has been made obvious that this is how it is going to stay. So now let's work on improving this. There are two areas that I think could be improved with this, the obtaining of minas, and the actual vault plugin itself.

So first, the obtaining of minas. Despite what the first post currently says, both skeletons and zombies drop emeralds, and they drop more than 0-2, although a lot of the time it is within that range. They can drop up to 4, maybe even 5, although I haven't done too much testing of it yet. As for what can drop it, I agree with the zombies, as they used to be people and probably had some minas on them at the time, but skeletons are a no in my mind. Yes, they also used to be people, but where would they hold those minas now? The are nothing but bones, and any minas they might have had would be gone by now. What I do think could drop them though, are endermen. They have a tendency to steal things, and emeralds are mighty shiny, therefore the probably stole some of them. They would also be a good candidate to drop emeralds since they are much harder to kill than most mobs.

Secondly, the plugin itself. Currently, you can make an unlimited number of chests, but it has been said that with 3.0 it will be adjusted so that members get one chest, and donators can get more depending on their rank. I think that this need to be implemented as soon as possible, as at the moment there could be many vault chests, and I am fairly sure it is at least against the rules to break them. That also kind of leads into the next point, LWC. At the moment, these so called "vaults" are more just like free money advertisements. You put a sign over a chest saying that it contains money, then make it unprotected unless you are a donor. Even just with simple items, such as a stack of melons or coal, my stuff gets stolen in my bunks with my conscript of the Lances character, so I highly doubt that people will stop restrain from helping themselves to some of my hard earned minas. Also, the limit available for thieves is much too high in my opinion, at 1,000 they could take a fair amount of valuables, and with nobody around, they probably won't even RP stealing it, or can pretend that there were multiple people helping at steal multiple thousands. I desperately think that some form of LWC should be added to these chests, but with the limit of 1 per member so that they aren't spammed all over the place. That's just my two cents, or rather judging by the length of my comment, more like my 50 cents.

TL;DR

Exchange skeletons dropping emeralds for endermen.

Actually make mobs drop only 0-2 emeralds, or possibly 0-3.

Add some form of LWC to the vault chests.

Make a limit ASAP for how many vault chests a player can place.

P.S. Maybe you could advertise the use of banks for vaults, e.g. have players put their vault chests in banks and pay some sort of tax/fee for the protection server. Of course, this would only work if some sort of LWC was implemented.

Will emeralds be mineable?

Otherwise you have a currency that has no origins.

I'm going to assume no, if this isn't the case then please correct me.

Basically this.

A quick question... for all those who still have those mina maps, is there any way to be compensated?

I've lost well over 80,000 mina during this process, all still on the mina maps (Notes). It's not like I don't have tangible proof of my currency, it's just a matter of getting it.

Edit: Just read the last part of the post, that's just fantastic.

I think the GM's should host some sort of event to get some Mina back. Zombie outbreak or just give all the political leaders a lot of MIna. From there, the Political leaders begin to give money to their subjects and so on and so forth.

Guys, chill the fuc|{ out over the virtual cash. I had two 50k mina notes and a double chest full of 5k mina notes and you don't see me complaining. Why? BECAUSE THIS IS A GAME. Stop letting a few needed changes from ruining your experience because of your own greed.

Just because you don't doesn't mean no one else can. Some people worked hard to get all that money. and just saying "Chill out" won't change anything. People will still be upset because hey have a right to. And nice language.
