Feedback And Suggestions For The Next Island

Recommended Posts

Personally, I am not totally sure if I want to see another island. Everyone has been anticipating 3.0 and frankly I don't feel much like playing until 3.0 comes out. As for all the plugins that need to be finished, I think it would be fine if they come later than the map and just have one big update when they are all ready. Just my thoughts on this.

They have had PLENTY of time to get things done for3.0. I for one will not be playing on ANOTHER temp map

Section off land for the races to use, Region it and give perms to the leaders, this will get rid of the useless clutter.

Red - Orcs

Blue - Humans

Green - Elves

Brown - Dwarves

Purple - No man's land

The no man's land, would have a ton of rare desirable resources, and is the only piece of wilds on the map. Building houses there would be a silly thing to do, because large roaming monsters continue to ravage the land. This place would be a desirable point to control.

There will be no prebuilt areas, everyone will need to work to create a settlement for themselves.

I forgot Kha .-.

I seriously LOVE this idea. It would very cool to have sections just for certain races. Also, if 2 races go to war or something, it would be awesome to maybe have like war on each other's land, or out in no man's land. Maybe sections of no man's land could be capturable, so the races could fight over them. Or have to clear out the area... and kill all the mobs and get rid of hazards.

3.0 isn't just the map itself - we have plugins to be created, systems to be designed, etc - we also don't want to rush the map.

Focusing all our building power on 3.0 wouldn't rush it, and I see that plugins need to be made, but that doesn't me we can't just have people work on 3.0.

My suggestions are as follows:

-Please decrease the amount of mobs. They are an annoyance to roleplay.

-Make the Isle a Tundra, with little food and wood.

-Make the Isle obviously temporary so it is not settled.

-Host events and maybe add a volcano

-Limit PvP wars.

How about we don't move? How about we spend our time role-playing on this island, like we have, instead of having to have another two hour event on a boat doing nothing, with only a selective few actually doing something exciting. If we go to another map, 2.6 if you will, we'll have to re-spend our time REMAKING what we have already made here, which will put off a lot of players until 3.0. Don't move islands, stay in 2.5 until 3.0 is ready.

I'd like to see a few more events allowing us to have some unique rp. Yes we have had a good amount of events like the meteor and voclano things, but I mean something that can get the entire server together and promote positive roleplay that will leave us all smiling when it's finished.

I don't know about you guys but... I love war! I love having PvP wars! It makes me feel like Im in Lord of the Rings! Even though this would never happen.. I think it would be sweet to have like a world war. One giant war. 2 races vs the other 2. There would be TONS of RP, like preparing for the war, working together, gathering resources, organizing, having leaders, squads, ect. And the war could go on for a little while.. sending in troops.... capturing areas... building war bases.... planning attacks.... having meetings on strategies... there would be so much RP! Give me some feedback people! What do you guys think?!

I say that we should have a non-hostile island, or low hostility. I for one am not a fan of hordes of monsters attacking me while I am roleplaying. The days are also to short for a lot of mobs because you'll have one roleplay go through 2 nights sometimes.

Another note, I would like to see the island regioned but allow everyone to build anywhere. The regions would help to keeps monsters spawning in cities and such.

I'm glad you guys created this thread! I'm actually working on an island myself and will create a thread about it once I'm done. Now for some feedback:

As stated earlier in the thread, I felt it was a bit silly that there have been so many settlements when our purpose for being on the island was to replenish our resources. Mind you, I feel like some of the settlements I've seen made sense (New Oren's small wooden house district, since it seemed like a temporary encampment to me when it began), but a lot of them (cobblestone-fenced plots, mansions, etc.) don't seem necessary.

Regarding that point, I don't think there was much to be done about it, since there wasn't much else on the island to drive people. Building is an important part of any minecraft server, and the roleplaying involved in gathering supplies to settle the land was a lot of fun, even though I feel it wasn't the original intent of the island. If the team is up to it, I would prefer to see a more central theme for the next island (i.e. a clear goal for us being there). I would also prefer less mobs, since they've mildly detracted from my roleplaying experience on the island.

I think most people fail to see why 3.0 isn't ready. The map is hardly the case (So I'm told), as it can be developed by us, the player base. However, if the plugins and such are not in order, very big issues arise, such as; Economic inflation, Lack of skill plugin (I understand it limits you, but if not in place, it DETRACTS from rp. People should have to work together), new application system, and donation system. These are just a few things that need to be done, that have nothing to do with the map. The way i see it, they're saying the map needs more work to even out the weight, so the community doesn't put to much pressure on Alec (Who already works too damn hard). With none of these plugins in place, the map will quickly fall into the same rut we were in, for both these temp maps, and arguably, Asulon.

Just going to add to what was said earlier.

No cities and houses please. It makes absolutely no sense to go building full-out cities on a temporary island. I mean , if we're there to collect resources , why would they be wasted building a massive city and manors for an island that is only temporary. ( Looking at you Oren ;) )There should be camps and only camps. Anybody remember the Alras Camp back in Aegis ? That's what I'd like to see again.

I really don't care if there is another temp map... however, I would enjoy it being less of an all out land grab from the start. I like the tundra idea, with very limited land to build on. Maybe make food limited, but weapons available, so there are food riots and such.

We aren't saying that we want 3.0 now. Some just don't want another temp map that has little importance, and I'd rather have the 3.0 map built sooner than later so that it is truely the perfection that we all want. There's definitely no rush to any of this, I just don't want to move again.
