Alan 1815 Author Share Posted January 3, 2013 When we updated dates and time keeping way back in early Asulon when days were 40 minutes, it was set to around 42 IC years for 1 IRL year. This was before the days were increased to 60 minutes, which makes it more like 30 IC years for one IRL year. This means that, if the plugin was working, a human character who was actually RPing for 100 years (Say they began RPing at 25 and died at 125), that's over three years of RP on the server, about twice as long as the server has actually been up. Sure it may be too late now for some humans, which is why they find reasons to live longer because we do not force anyone to kill off their character due to old age. However, you can't really complain when you start your character as an old man of maybe 90 or 100, even though that still gives you more than a year of RP. Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Im not sure what to say... This thread is basically telling me that all Adunian RP that has gone on over the past year is void?
Watyll 1104 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Let's look at the racial curses, eh? Elves, No children. Not /that/ many people have children, and you can still wait those 1-2 weeks. Orcs, Bloodlust. How is this an OOC cripple at all? Dwarves, Greed. Oh damn, I have an excuse to horde diamonds. Damnit! Humans, Short life. I don't get to roleplay my character because they're dead. Humans get screwed OOC'ly because of the curse. It doesn't make fun RP, it doesn't make things spicy and new, it makes people sad. Why shouldn't we allow them some out? Especially half-breeds, because now they have to deal with any other meh curse, and the short life. A little less sarcasm would be appreciated. Humans need to have a limit such as this because there are so many of them.
everblue2er101 906 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Im not sure what to say... This thread is basically telling me that all Adunian RP that has gone on over the past year is void? As it was said in the first post, PM Alan about any concerns you may have. RP does not need to be voided if something else can be worked out.
Lago 2572 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Not quite sure about that one, watyll. Im not sure what to say... This thread is basically telling me that all Adunian RP that has gone on over the past year is void? How long does an Adunian live?
Endeavour 5 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Not quite sure about that one, watyll. How long does an Adunian live? Adunians are suppose to live for 3 or 4 times as long as a normal Human meaning 300-400 years.
Lago 2572 Share Posted January 3, 2013 What about Silverblade half-elves?
CountJuno88 230 Share Posted January 3, 2013 My real question is what necessitated the need for Andunian players to live so long?
Lago 2572 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Probably because, like a lot of people, the assumption was half-elf meant halfway between elf and human in everything. It's less about why people have half-elves older than humans can be, and more that there are existing half-elves older than humans can be. This means that most members of the Adunian race should be dead given their age, and them all dropping dead or growing white beards overnight is a little weird. I'm trying to find out how long the existing groups of half-elves live so I can work out the best way of making them work, be it making existing characters younger or another solution. jtringl 35 Share Posted January 3, 2013 I really don't think this decision should have been made without asking the playerbase. It is something that affects a lot of people, and the form of half-breeds that people were playing seemed to be widely accepted. Why must we make rules on things that the majority of the playerbase has a problem with? Not everything should be the decision of a select few. Sorry, but I don't agree at all with this. Half breeds should not just have the curses, benefits should come along with it.
Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Adunians are suppose to live for 3 or 4 times as long as a normal Human meaning 300-400 years. That is incorrect. Adunians live to an average of 180, the oldest one ever having lived to 211.
Endeavour 5 Share Posted January 3, 2013 That is incorrect. Adunians live to an average of 180, the oldest one ever having lived to 211. I was told by another Adunian that they live for that long I had never heard about this.
Pro_Whistler 37 Share Posted January 3, 2013 A little less sarcasm would be appreciated. Humans need to have a limit such as this because there are so many of them. Alright. Apologies for the sarcasm, it seems the Curses don't affect Dwarves or Orcs negatively OOC'ly. I'm sure they do someway, I've yet to have light shed unto how, though. Snake Plissken 637 Share Posted January 3, 2013 I was told by another Adunian that they live for that long I had never heard about this. Well, as I was the Adunian lore writer from when we started up until about a week ago, I think I know what Im talking about here.
VonEbs 1224 Share Posted January 3, 2013 What I simply don't understand is how humans live to 180... we cannot even do that now, and the average lifespan back then had to be like 35, maybe 55 if you lived past childhood. It seems like the human curse is not effecting them at all, and by the time your character is 180, you have lived through most of the history of the server. I feel that the human lifespan needs to be reigned in, the most being like 80 or 90, and then you would be little more then a crumpled old man. End immortal humanity.
