As you pass through the entrance to the grand dwarven hold of the Kingdom of Urguan, you turn your head towards a notice board, nailed with a wide assortment of scrolls and notices. As you look closer, a particular scroll in the centre of the board sparks your interest. Upon it scribed in bold, intricately written letters are the words "Candidacy For the Position of Archbishop."

"Dwarves and honourable citizens of the Kingdom of Urguan, with the sudden departure of the Archbishop Phelrin Irongut, the King has ordered that each and every willing candidate who deems themselves fit to lead the Clergy must henceforth fill out an application, addressed to the Throne of Urguan and the Council of Lords. The application must contain the candidate's name, age, race and the reasons for which they feel they are suited for the role. The responsibilities of the Archbishop are demanding and it is expected that only those citizens of considerable influence and prestige may deem themselves fit before the ever watchful eyes of the Brathmordakin. Below is the specification for the role, as is set out in the Articles of Urguan.

 

The Archbishop is the religious leader of his time, informing the council of the views of the gods and the paragons of all their actions. He is chief on all matters of religion throughout the dwarven nation. This dwarf has the responsibility of organising proper worship of the Brathmordakin through the Clergy.

 

The candidate must further show a willingness to participate in the every day affairs of the Kingdom of Urguan, as well as display an unwavering loyalty to the Kingdom and its core principles. Upon the second elven day, the King on advice from the Council of Lords will select which candidate he deems is best fit to lead the Clergy. Why you feel you
are fit for the position of Archbishop:

Now I have watched
the clergymen go about their business for many a moon now, and I feel that what
they need is a fresh set of ‘hands at the rudder’ so to speak. I may be a fair
bit young, but I believe that I am known throughout the kingdom, and ‘ave spent
time with all types of citizens in this here kingdom. I’ve been with soldiers,
I’ve been with Smiths, and I’ve been with Engineers. I know the likes and
mannerisms of every type of lad and lass in all of the Dwarven lands.

In terms of
religious experience, I have always worshiped all of the Brathmordakin since I
was a young lad, and I have a shrine to each of them in my holdings. I also
wish to re-kindle the dulling flame of the Clergy and make various reforms to
the Kirkja Dverga- primarily I would ‘ave one Bishop per Brathmordakin to
spread their word and preach in their voice, and the Arch Bishop be the
specific speaker of predominantly Yemekar. These are just a few of the things I
would do.

Why you feel you are fit for the position of Archbishop:

Because unlike the other candidates I am CURRENTLY a bishop of the Kirkja Dverga and thus am the ONLY dwarf , other then Maellik and Phelrin, who is qualified. Allow anyone else to take the position and the clergy will suffer. Olaf is a brute, he has no place leading the religion and Throgrim is barely more then a beardling and has no idea of what he is doing, he claims to have watched us for many a night, but I am the servant of Grimdugan - I hear all and see much - and not once have I seen him follow me.

 

I was the closest confidant of Kazraden, I am the only dwarf with the required steel and gall to pull us through this. I promise to crack down on apostasy by fellow dwarfs. As archbishop I will reform and recruit additonal inquisitors and preachers to spread the true dwarfen faith.

I may just be an initiate, but it is not for the lack of knowledge or effort. I will not only live up to the legacy of my father, Kazraden Starbreaker, I will exceed that or damn well die trying. I am devoted to the teachings of the Brathmordakin, and I am not one of those beardlings who yells "Dungrimm" a few times and considers that enough. I will do my best for the dwarves, and I will make sure that the Brathmordakin are properly worshiped by every dwarf.
