Wow if they took the whitelist away and a surge of noobs came in... The server would explode with BRs and Lag.

Anyways April fools Danny

Well done if you were silly enough to fall for this. ^_^

It was an awful April Fools joke, and had the desired effect. Most of the changes mentioned above obviously aren't going to be put into effect - we're not a bunch of total and utter idiots. However, some are. The ones that are are listed below:

  • Firstly, I’d just like to say that we’re working on sorting the instability and rollbacks that have been occurring lately. This is caused due to a technical issue that we’re trying to solve currently - we can’t actually provide an ETA for this being fixed, however it shouldn’t be too long. Please be patient whilst we try and solve this, and understand that it’s just as frustrating for us as it is for you.
  • Secondly, I hope you enjoy the Easter forum skin - we'll be doing this for all festive seasons - do be aware, I did this in about five minutes - in future, the skins will be much more attractive and elaborate. We'll be returning to the usual skin at 00:00 on the 2nd of April. Anyway, enough of the natter, onto the important information that we need you to read and take heed of.
  • Forum Skin Updates - There will be some further changes to the forum skin, as we try and make it more eye appealing. This means that some of the buttons that are currently still sadly not fully textured, will be done soon.
  • A website-based ‘Help Station’ will be released on the 2nd of April, that will work as an interactive knowledge base providing assistance on everything LOTC related.
  • The VIP perk of ‘no advertisements’ will be returned shortly, and will be in full effect. We apologise for it not being sooner, however sorting the main skin was a priority.
  • Most old (date still to be defined) staff applications will be denied - anyone still interested in applying should re-apply.

To everyone who was to be irritated if this was to be an April Fools joke, all I can say is cheer up. You can hardly expect us to keep a stone-face all of the time, and you getting so worked up over something such as this really isn't what we intend to do. Smile, and stop taking things so seriously - you'll have more fun.

Cheers to everyone who played along with our worst April Fools joke - worse than last years, which actually convinced people!

I am in full support of everything stated in the OP. May I also suggest banning the use of 'Yolo' and 'Swag'? And due to these new players' lack of RP understanding... I'd recomend giving them diamond tools and weapons as starting equipment so they don't feel to small compared to the server's large playerbase and parent-eating orcs.

  • tick.png The status feed will be removed from the forums - it is un-needed, and simply clutters the website. It has been abused far too much, and it has no reason to be kept

Good riddance! All that thing ever did was cause trouble!

On another note, I like to see that LoTC is cutting a lot of uneeded/useless features out of the game, and the forum. Most noteworthy,  OOC chat. And I bid the OOC clique an evil laugh, and fond farewell.

I just don't understand how many of these could work!

If we remove the whitelist, what will happen to the server? The whitelist ensured (most of the time) that only the best joined the server! I know this system is not perfect but if we remove it, we have a huge influx of people who won't understand what definitions such as Powergaming and Metagaming are! They will not have read the lore an what's to stop them from attacking people on the streets if they get bored?

In relation to the influx of players, if we remove OOC, how will we resolve issues. Sure people can post random things but it plays a huge part is sorting out problems with Meta Gaming and Powergaming, as well as breaking other rules and RP! If we remove this, we are forced to either live with it, or instantly post a ban report on the person. Considering this person could easily be a new player who doesn't understand what Powergaming is (seeing as there is no whitelist), they will be banned instantly.

Another problem is that if a player base decides I unban someone, a popular player could easily be unbanned if their friends appealed to get them unbanned! It wouldn't even matter if the player went on a rampage!

Some of these ideas may have their ups and downs but I just don't see how this can work out without disaster. And many players disagree with this, if these are implemented, players could leave in the dozens.

I feel I have some mixed reactions on the 'No OOC /tells or /msgs... We these because we need to clear things up in RP, and also because, well... We have OOC friends too, and this can be a bit... Annoying, especially for those of us who don't use skype or teamspeak often, such as myself, due to the fact it lags and occassionally crashes the computer. Also the removal of the whitelist. All the best RP servers do not have them. this is just going to give us a TON of bans and ban reports. If not for that... I would like the changes.

Also, if you remove OOC chat, are you removing L-OOC too? Because, again... we use this to communicate errors etc.

EDIT: VOID! Thank you for the awesome April Fool's joke, you had me going! :D Happy April Fool's, all.
