Nation Management, Open Land And Dynamic Borders

I personally feel like it's not going 'perfectly' with the orcs considering there's people 'Crusading' them and gobbling up land.

I would not exactly say this has been successful in either case. Malinor has experienced a serious drop in players, and Krugmar has just been invaded by humans who are taking advantage of the unregioning. I am not impressed.

I have not been a part of these instances but I would guess that they are a kneejerk reaction. The orcs are at a certain disadvantage being one of the first to change to this system, but I think once the other nations adjust, things will perhaps not "settle down" but the orcs will be able to not only fight back, but crusade agains the nations who beset them.

Others building their own homes around the land should be an interesting take on things. As well as the roleplay it creates. Can't wait to see how it goes.

We should be looking for ways to restore the nation balance, not make it easier for one to dominate the others. This makes it possible for races to die out with no way of return. I'm not sure even Oren wants Oren to be the only nation.

becomes free-build

Are some areas going to be protected?

All I can say is, as the military leader of the Dwarves, this is gonna cause me so much ooc stress.

How will you determine how many players are apart of a nation? What about second characters?

It does restore the nation balance, entirely, as explained in the OP. Nations wont dominate others, as it's easier than ever to avoid that - with nations encouraging more people to join them via better roleplay, better events, etc. Plus, nations don't shrink entirely - the smallest they can shrink is around the size Malinor is now.

Some areas remain protected yes, but much will be unregioned.

I agree with this, as long as a given nation will have some land (and as I understand they cannot loose all of it without all of their members dieing, and even then they could just make new characters to take up the leadership) no nation will go extinct. I think this system will give the power to those who put the most time, and effort, into the quality of their roleplay.

If a nation's military wants to clear out settlers do we have to have vas to destroy the Settlement?

No. As long as that settlement is actually in your sphere of influence, you are free to do so - much like you are in regioned land.

I approve of this change. The theory seems viable as well as being backed up by a bit of practice already. I hope to see RP prosper because of this.

Seems like a good idea.

How can it be controlled, though? Both Anthos and Asulon gave made it apparent that power influences how many people join a nation more than any event or quality RP will. Unless we suddenly get a massive influx of applicants (and even then, the division of which applicants joined which nation would probably not be far from how things are already), people won't be willing to switch mains just to take part in other events - especially since very few events are restricted racially.

Great.... How down will they be able to dig? You see this causes a certain problem for Dwarves since the Deep roads literally expand everywhere underneath Dwarven Lands. And since it houses our antagonist we don't exactly want people digging down to get greeted by an angry monster.

Neither made that apparent at all, really. If we're referring to Humans, they've always been the most populated race - people have always seemed to choose to be humans over other races. People are killing off their characters quite often - they're then stuck with the decision on making a new one. I think that most people want to have the best RP they can get on the server, and if a nation appears to give that, they're likely to go with it.

For dwarven lands, we'd likely put a higher dig limit than we have elsewhere.
