Telanir 6975 Share Posted June 27, 2013 Welcome to the Your View topic for Nexus, formerly known as LotC-Core, and before that as the professions plugin. I firmly believe that Nexus is the next step in improving the environment that is Lord of the Craft. Nexus will be the Core that the server completely revolves around. Every single function, and gameplay detail that will be visible to the eye of a player and more, this is the breath of life our server has needed for quite some time. Nexus will be the most immense change that the community will ever go through, but it is more than a plugin. It is an experience. It is the aim of the Technical Team to provide our community with the best environment that is possible, and we will continue to release details in further Livestreams to keep you updated. In this thread you may discuss whatever you feel is necessary, however make sure that you have stayed up to date on the Livestreams and aren't repeating any questions. I will be making sure that everyone's voice and opinion is heard, and any arguments will not be tolerated. This is a place to state what you think and what you feel and not have your opinions refuted by any other party. Keep it clean folks, you may begin. ^-^ Livestream for those who missed it: Here is a really basic summary of what was discussed during the streams, for more details spend an hour of your life to watch it. Seriously. ;) What is CoreMechanics? A mechanics-oriented feature that levels the playing field when it comes to PvP being unrealistic. How does CoreMechanics affect combat mechanics? Spam clicking becomes detrimental, consequences for sprint-jumping become massive, jump-striking becomes a trade-off. Risk it for the biscuit! CoreMechanics aims to make attacks on the battlefield count, making tactics something necessary instead of something secondary. When released, everyone will suck at CoreMechanics equally. ;) How do the benefits outweigh the shortcomings? CoreMechanics introduces features such as a story-telling aspect, racial differences in combat, and a status system. For more info on these, skip ahead to about 20 minutes or so when we are talking about these features. How is latency and terrible FPS going to affect us? The plugin has a feature developed that attempts to minimize these differences, and make combat as equalized as possible. What about all my roleplay training my character did? Sorry, gathering proof for this and then setting your status in game will take far too long. Luckily for you, it won't take long for you to master that combat that you want so much. What should we focus on other than combat? Endure The Great Famine, make a farmer, strive for peace and prosperity! Explore the lands with the new Explorer profession, be an Alchemist, a Tinker, a Scholar, or a Brewer. A total of 27 professions are to be included in the plugin. What about Reag? He's back. Hell yeah! What is time-based crafting? A system we have developed to make sure that the influx of good items is regulated by time, instead of availability of resources. Preparations for battle will no longer be you popping a bunch of iron ingots into a bench and acquiring sets of armor, it will take days of preparation. Aren't there too many professions? By increasing the number of professions and making them a bit more detailed we allow the players at least some degree of freedom. We don't want to limit you to a certain segment of Nexus and don't intend for you to stick to it. What are pseudo-items? Items that are on your character, yet not present in the form of a Minecraft item. Heraldic armor will be a pseudo-item, which is essentially the ability to use your skin as armor in minecraft, provided you give a moderator a set of iron armor to trade. Shift-right-clicking will give you the ability to see someones' pseudo-items. If shift-right-clicking is replaced, what happens to character cards? Players will open an interface, and have the ability to interact with the other character through a few buttons and actions. You will have the ability to view their character card, as well as any other feature you'd like to view as well. Interfaces will be a feature that utilizes inventories in-game, replacing slots with items that become buttons. Are players going to be able to test out the plugin? Yes, we will be launching a debug/test server a few weeks before release for players to test the plugin on. How is lockpicking going to work? This one is rather complicated, for a good explanation view the livestream about halfway through. Pickpocketing is going to be a new feature that introduces the ability to steal items from another player that you are near. VA's that a player has can be seen through the interface menu. In short, that is a quick summary of the plugin. I really think it will be great, the only thing I'm hoping for is that it won't restrict the playerbase from doing certain things. We'll see how it turns out. So far, so good. I may have thought PVP default was stupid in the past but the livestreams have said different and now I remember my early days on this server. When you told me how to do everything Telanir. Shields will be placed used in the second inventory slot of your hotbar, and will be automatically taken into account for when you right-click for blocking. With a plugin like this, I want PVP! Up to the community here, personally I think PvP will make Nexus actually work, but the way it is created currently will require an entire re-write for roleplay default.
