What was the reasoning for Elves having Emeralds?

Trade our lapis for other nation's redstone

As I said, each Nation was given we gave for reasons. Not every Nation has absolutely everything that it needs, though it does not have nothing it needs. You will notice that the Dwarves alone have Gold, along with some other nice things, but they do not have the coal to actually smelt unless they choose to trade with other nations for it or dumb themselves down to mining in the public mines. It's the same for all races, as Humans have clay for hardened stained clay but they do not have iron, Orcs have sandstone but also do not have iron, and more. We do not give resources to the races simply because they "want" or "need" them, in fact what a Nation needs often leads to us giving what they want to someone else to promote trade.

Ah, I see. I think we can get a few pieces of redstone for each lapis anyway.

Edit:

Now what about the Kharajyr having gold? Jungle gold makes more sense than jungle iron.

I really don't think there should be private iron mines, or if there are, everyone should have them. Right now, dwarves exclusively have gold and are one of two to have iron. Those are the two most valuable resources. I think everyone should perhaps have access to these materials, but in different amounts, or make the dwarven ones very sparsely filled while the public ones are more proficient and useful. Imbalance is fine, but I think it's a bit too much personally.

Given that the dwarves now have so many ores, are they going to stop making food in the giant mushroom cavern? That was the original dwarf economy plan, export iron, import food.

It has already been griefed for quite sometime. So yeah... But I'm pretty happy, the dwarves seem to have a good amount of what we need. We can't have everything, but we're fine in this case.

As far as I know, the public mines will still be open to all, so iron is accesible.

As I said in the OP, this thread merely mentions what Nation will get what, but not how much of each ore they will get. Though two of the Nations have Iron, they could very well only have two or three ores alone, it is not as if they will have 10-20+ like the current public mines.

Way to disregard what I told you about iron mines completely and stuff.

It's not like we now have a borderline useless mine. You think people will actually BUY coal? You can make charcoal.

If you make iron mines available to only 2 races, you're going to have a bad time. Iron is way too important to be limited. Other resources? Yea sure. Not iron. If its just going to be 2-3 pieces, it is not worth the trip.

The way to create an economy is not by strangling the supply. You are currently only guaranteeing that the rich get richer by making it so groups with iron already are the only groups who can get iron easily as iron is 1. So expensive or 2. So stupid hard to get by the mines.

Sounds good to me. Will there be a public gold mine?

I didn't disregard what you said. I read it, thought about it, then disagreed. Making posts like this with this attitude will not help your case in getting us to listen to you, and it will certainly earn you a warn in the future. There's a right way to disagree or bring up an issue and then there's a wrong way, so please do so respectfully and maturely.

Now you're going to have to actually go and try to get things from other nations. What's so bad about that.

All it does is make any nation less self-dependant and improves world-wide economy as well as diplomacy. You can't just spit on another ones shoes now, they might decide to up the price of iron.

Think Middle-East and West of our days.

The Humans currently control one of the largest mountain ranges in Anthos. Why do the Kharajyr, who live on an island, have an iron mine - yet Humans do not?

Clay is absolutely useless. When turned into brick it makes buildings too modern. Why not give humans an iron mine too? As Hunwald said we have one of the largest mountain ranges in Anthos.

Have you guys not realized the location of the current Iron mine? It's smack in the middle of humans and Elves. It's a pretty large one as well, honestly as Rittsy said it may be not that big of a mine. The Kha live in a Volcanic area, I suggest you guys read this. http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/LivingWith/PlusSide/mineral_resources.html

I believe I mentioned this earlier, but no worries.

Essentially, it promotes trade. Humans need iron and hardened stained clay (cause it will kill the wool house epidemic), but I would not give them both. Since other Nations also have iron but not clay, we decided that it would be more fair if Humans did not have it. As was mentioned earlier, Nations were not given what they were given because they wanted it or needed it, they were given a mix of what they need and what they don't need.

As much as I am not delegating on the Nation Mines, if you are speaking of Hanseti, we can put one up and you can expect the antagonist to rain hell on such a parade
