Decision On Nation Mines

Hello again Anthos :)

After considering the suggestions of the playerbase in the Your View thread, we have reached a decision in regards to the Nation Mines and which Nation will get what. This thread states our current plan, which may be subject to change depending on plugin issues or other circumstances, as well as how the Nation mines will work differently than public mines.

The following list accounts for what each Nation mine will contain, but not how much of each ore will be present. A mine with less variety in ores could potentially have more ores than one with more variety, though not necessarily, so keep this in mind. Things like gravel and sand may be present in many of the mines, so they are not listed.

Humans: Coal, Clay, Redstone
Elves: Coal, Emerald, Glowstone
Dwarves: Iron, Gold, Lapis, Obsidian
Orcs: Coal, Quartz, Sandstone
Kharajyr: Iron, Lapis
Halflings: Coal *

* Halflings will have significant benefits and advantages in farming with the release of the upcoming Nexus plugin, thus they shall be significantly less orientated in the way of mining, not to mention the obvious RP reasoning.

Some of the above details probably will stir quite a bit of confusion, disappointment and/or disagreement, but our decision was made after long and careful deliberation. If you wish to know why one Nation has an ore or does not have an ore, along with any other questions, feel free to ask in a response and I will respond with our reasoning. Any posts that simply complain or cause drama unconstructively and without reason will be hidden and the poster will be warned, so think twice about what you're posting before you post it.

Now to get on with the good stuff. The Nation mines themselves will function differently than the current public mines. For one, these mines will be blocked off by Log Block or something similar so that only those who are given mechanical permission are able to access the mines. The Nation Leaders will have the power to dictate who can access their respective Nation's mines, and they may even choose to add mining permits to be purchased for said access.

On top of this, although we will be building the mines, the Nation Leaders will be talked to about what they want the mines to actually look like. For instance, one Nation Leader might prefer their Nation's mine to be built structurally like the current public mines, but another might prefer if their Nation's was a system of natural caves or perhaps an organized complex of routes. In such a case, inspirational or concept pictures would be highly useful and appreciated. Other factors will also be discussed with the Nation Leaders, such as where their Nation's mine will be located, whether or not event locations will be present (IE cave-in areas), and more.

As previously mentioned, we will do our best to answer any and all questions and concerns about our final decision.

Thanks for reading :)

EDIT: Changed the title from "Final Nation Mines Decision" to "Decision on Nation Mines", as the presence of the word 'Final' may have given the wrong impression in regards to our stance on this topic.

EDIT 2: Added glowstone to the Elven mine

Kharajyr: Iron, Lapis

Us dwarves do not want lapis as we have no use for it. If possible we would like to have a redstone mine as we use it more than the other races. The only use for lapis in the entire kingdom would be for dying wool in the Grayhammer Clan colors (Blue and Grey).

Edit: I was also thinking they mew mews should have gold instead of iron. It makes more sense to me for them to find gold in the jungle instead of iron. Plus, it's worth more.

Iron should just be reserved for public mines to halt any sort of monopolization. Mining abilities don't contribute to the natural creation of the ores present in the world.

Gives the Kha more importance and balances numbers with quality of items, kinda. I like it.

Trade our lapis for other nation's redstone

As I said, each Nation was given we gave for reasons. Not every Nation has absolutely everything that it needs, though it does not have nothing it needs. You will notice that the Dwarves alone have Gold, along with some other nice things, but they do not have the coal to actually smelt unless they choose to trade with other nations for it or dumb themselves down to mining in the public mines. It's the same for all races, as Humans have clay for hardened stained clay but they do not have iron, Orcs have sandstone but also do not have iron, and more. We do not give resources to the races simply because they "want" or "need" them, in fact what a Nation needs often leads to us giving what they want to someone else to promote trade.

Given that the dwarves now have so many ores, are they going to stop making food in the giant mushroom cavern? That was the original dwarf economy plan, export iron, import food.

What was the reasoning for Elves having Emeralds?

It still seems disproportionate in my eyes as Iron IS a main driving force in the economy.

EDIT: How about the dwarves don't have iron? It will stick to the lore as the dwarves are greedy so they would need the gold. The Kha can just have iron, making it difficult to get iron due to the hostile environments one would have to cross to get to the Kha island.
