Decision On Nation Mines

Too bad that's going to be OOCly blocked.

I like how one side of the ongoing war gets 100% of the new iron mines. Balance.

You won't be able to annihilate any enemy with a snap of your fingers anymore. It's actually going to be a bit more complicated to win. How terrible.

What was the reasoning for Elves having Emeralds?

It doesn't seem like the last battle was won due to an overwhelming iron disproportion or anything.

The opposing force just kind of got smashed, even though both sides were fully equipped with gear.

Trade. I know House Stafyr will be buying emeralds once these mines come out.

People seem to be under the impression that the Kha' are Oren's OOC enemies? If you want to come raid us, come raid us. We're not trying to find a way out.

But the moment you decide that your desire for iron is more important than the enjoyment of a race, is the point where you forget the purpose of LoTC. Fun for all, not fun for Oren.

Bring us RP, don't bring us tears.

If it wasn't won due to a overwhelming iron disproportion, what are you complaining about?

There's ways to 'ICly' fix it.

"You wouldn't be able to get on that boat to raid us!"

"The Kha islands can't be invaded because of the thick jungle!"

"Metzili saves the Kha!"

... Y'know, like the shield that got put up over malinor once.

And... Wait.

You're saying that because Oren doesn't lose wars, it's OK to totally deprive them of iron mines so they (hopefully) lose a war? Last time I checked, it wasn't because of some kind of total deprivation of iron that the dwarven alliance lost that last battle.

Like I said, someone goes spaztastic like that, report them. Speak with GMs, RP taking a ship to their island. Let the ship sit a petty distance from the island, take some rowboats. Raid, row back to the ship and go home.

This will not promote trading and will just cause the Dwarves and Kha to be raided more often.

Yes but, who's to blame for that?

The nation who refuses to do any economical and diplomatic RP because it just wants its Iron and that's all.

Or the ones who are trying to promote Trade RP, in this case the GMs.

We expect a fair few raids. But it'd arguably be more efficient for some sort of trade deal to be struck between the Kha' and Oren rather than raids that can only be performed with like a... 1 week gap inbetween them (I forget the exact rule, apologies if I'm wrong on that) to an iron mine that'll be heavily concealed and locked down, and not to mention regularly depleted by the Kha' themselves. And with the limit on raid numbers, an island of Kha' with a large supply in iron may at the end of the day be more risk than it's worth.

It's likely we'll try and form our own arrangements anyway. But I'm sure I speak for all of the Kha' when I say we'd rather work out a method of trade than deal with an endless stream of PvP roflstomping.

You bring a competitively minded player-base separate ores, some ores being more valuable to nations than others and expect to see trade and diplomacy? There is already so much iron flooding the economy that I don't see most major guilds/nations needing to actually go out and buy it anytime soon. To ascertain that this will bring RP instead of more PVP and conflict with the current player-base to me is a lack of insight to how the server actually is at the moment.I'll go ahead and see how this pans out, I just personally believe that mines should remain in neutral territories, with an opening of more mines in said area.

As it stands, what is to stop a group of five from going into a nation mine in the dead of night and camping the mine? In conclusion, it's all fine and dandy to want nation trading, but there are always going to be those who would rather take the items by force than RP for them, and I personally believe that as we stand right now there are quite a few more who would prefer to use the former than the latter.

Iron is monopolized now by one of the smallest playerbases and a playerbase in direct opposition to another.

And the biggest playerbase gets a total of:

Clay (No one cares)

Coal (Charcoal is a thing)

Redstone (Yay, I guess.)

The dwarves got a sweet deal. I'd be totally fine if they had a unique goal mine, but giving them 3/4 useful resources does not bode well when humanity gets borderline nothing good.

Would you look at that, the cards aren't in Oren's favor!

I'd like to mention that Dwarves are renowned for their mining skills, whereas I haven't heard the same about humans. And it is also important to remember that you aren't supposed to be playing to win on Lord of the Craft. Always remember that.

If anyone should feel bad, it should be the Halflings, but I see no complaints from them. Maybe you should replicate that attitude, Tornado.

I didn't know that the Kha had mining skills superior to humans in particular.

It would be much easier to be 'content' if this issue did not so directly effect me.
