A few minor suggestions while we pump out the next plugin... x3

 

 What you fail to understand here is that a bunch of people aren't afraid to die. You'll get ./D20'd anyway, even in RP. What I don't want is to die from mobs while traveling. To die in PVP and then not be able to keep on RP'ing after..Etc..Lago said it nicely.

 

Really, what was the point of removing it? Because by removing it, you also make it harder to participate in roleplay.

These two speak the truth. All of you really need to chill out. Also, mobs already killed you so I'm not sure why some of you are freaking out about 'mobs deaths' now. And mass pugsying? Yeah, everyone is going to simply start mass murdering because of a patch change. Because, you know, that happens.

Let me clarify... I don't actually support the removal of the knockout plugin, for reason of duels, fist fights, and PvP. I just don't think it matters in terms of travelling and mob deaths, as I've always been KILLED by mobs. Never knocked out.

I didnt even know what knockback was, but am thankful it is gone.  I think it provides more powergaming opportunity than it gives rp.

 

I was being very careful around mobs and roads, and stopping in taverns at night to avoid danger, not only for the mechanic of death, but also because that is proper RP.

 

If you want safety from mobs, go to a town, stay in at night, treat the mobs like part of RP, since you are supposed to, and if you are trying to be OOCly protected its the same as metagaming.  Hire a guard, start up a caravan to charge people to be protected and watched over till they get to the next town.

 

More than 2 years, on LotC and we never had anything like this, Aegis and Asulon, mobs even grew larger and larger in number as things were going on because they ARE part of the RP.   We also used to have the crypt as well, I def dont think it was 5 minutes but, I am glad its back.

 

For those using it for pvp training, there are many ways you can still train without this plugin, one great way is to be in teamspeak, if you are getting close to death tell the opposer to stop a second so that you can type that you yield before he kills you, or use a macro to state such for training purposes.

 

There is always a creative solution to every perceived problem.

Helps against mobs... but only against mobs.

That won't change anything. Fight RP will still end with one side getting to ss or one side /d20'ing. This will only affect pvpers, and negatively.

If you're replacing it... why not just keep what works until then?

All the removal of knockout achieves is a massive shift to RP fighting. Knockout should not be removed at all without PvP default, and with PvP default not until we have a plugin to replace it.

I like the removal of the Knockout plugin. Finally some challenge. And besides, if death occurs and items are lost, it'll stimulate the economy. The only issue is the dueling part, but as mentioned by Telanir (as far as I know), a duel plugin is going to be implemented.

Then leave Knockout on until we have a replacement for it. If we're removing knockout we need PvP default. Otherwise all its removal achieves is a shift towards RP fights.

How is this constructive at all?  Do you think they sat down and had a meeting saying "What's the best way we can make player's miserable"?

 

It's fine if you disagree with the decision, a lot of people do.  But a lot of people have voiced their distaste without whining or being snarky, or having a bad attitude.

 

I wasn't being "constructive". I apologize about it. 

 

Regardless, this is just downright ridiculous. Not only is there no logical reason to remove the knockouts. Within two minutes of being on the server I was shot by a skeleton, all of my inventory dropped onto the floor in my cave-home. I had to wait 5 minutes to respawn, preventing me from returning in time before it despawned, and only didn't lose my character's wedding ring, and half of my building materials, because it was in an unloaded chunk. Mob deaths already cost me my character's drake fang and scales, items which are immensely important to my RP. 

 

My idea is, add it back in, or at least explain why it can't be. Mob deaths shouldn't actually kill you, and I'm glad Tel's making a temp duel plugin. Sorry for coming off as snarky. I personally think that Telanir and the tech team are really awesome.

Weapons? Armour? Valuable items? Bah! I don't need that. But wait a minute, what about my food that I need to not die within one hit once my empty hungar bar begins to eat away at my hearts? Well then, I'm going to have to hunt for food in the wilds and pray I don't get slapped up by mobs in my endeavors to survive... Then if I don't survive, my time for rp will be postponed. Wellp, oh well.

I think there's a pretty solid majority who want knockout back. I would say put it back on, the benefits far outweigh the costs (are there even any?)

I don't keep any of my life savings on me. I'm neurotic about storing items, mostly because I played a lot of pvp servers. Yet, I'm still losing RP items I need to keep on me. I've bought a house, doesn't help. I still have to travel between areas to RP, and I get jumped by a bunch of mobs.

 

If this is the direction the server wants to take, the "hardcore" style of roleplay, I'll get used to it. But I still think it's kind of bad that mobs could sever your RP completely by killing you, then crypt prevents you from going back in a timely fashion. Crypt would be awesome for PvP, so people can't walk back and retake their stuff, but for mobs... it's just painful.

I like this idea. People have to realize that being killed by a mob, ISN'T OOC. And honestly, if you're so worried about losing your precious items, don't carry so much stuff around with you. Also, about dueling, be creative until the dueling plugin Telanir just spoke about is created. *poof*

I'm really not focused on the mobs, but while it's being discussed, I'll bring up that we really should do away with the immersion breaking undead mobs. If we're driving mobs into solid IC territory, the undead mobs have to go.
