  1. Responding to this one cause it's the most relevant to myself. Quite simply, this statement regarding the Lore Masters couldn't be further from the truth. Lore Team has practically NO power over roleplay at all, especially given the change in duties that occurred a few months ago (as mentioned in another post I made which is linked below); it's essentially just a group of individuals that write, are knowledgeable regarding lore, and work on projects for the staff. Essentially, think of LMs as the scribes of LotC. The only time that lore changes are made that have a noticeable effect on roleplay is when I myself consider and approve said changes, not the Lore Team. Sure, they give me their input on topics I bring up, but ultimately I alone am the one who affects roleplay in the way you are describing. Also, given the fact that I admittedly spend very little time roleplaying, it's a bit absurd to believe that changes are made to lore to prevent things we unreasonably don't like from happening when there's little I experience to form such an opinion. I am not denying that changes have been made to roleplay that may have annoyed you, but I am certainly denying that those changes were the result of the Lore Team. Also, as mentioned in the previous post I made which I will link below, the main reason that people complain about Lore Team is not what we do; it's what we don't do. People are upset that we are too "slow" when it comes to reviewing lore, or that we're too picky about the lore we accept. However, as explained, the Lore Team is currently nothing more than writers in essence and it doesn't actually review lore any more, thus the issues people have with the team are very misplaced. 2. (( Listen to dis music for maximum effectz )) The end began as a seemingly average and ordinary day in the realm of Anthos, but it was not to last. It was merely the calm that proceeds every storm. First, the rain came. It fell, and it never stopped falling. A force of nature known for its beneficial effects on the land, from the growth of crops to the drenching of tainted lands, quickly became a devasting and relentless might. The lands themselves shook greatly, and cracks tore through the ground while structures that had withstood decades of beating fell swiftly and quietly. The world was in discord. In the middle of all this chaos, the menace that is the Scourge descended from the North towards the entrance to one of the last few refuges of the descendant races; The Fringe. Its armies sought out to bring forth their mysterious Thanhic Ore, a mineral native to the North that sucks away the heat from all it touches. With this ore in its possession, the Scourge could corrupt the Fringe as it did Anthos with the creation of new bloodshards. Needless to say, the mortals were prepared to prevent this at all costs. In the land that was once the Cloud Temple Sanctuary of the Wilven Monks, a grand battle was fought between the many races of Anthos and the mighty Scourge. Brute force clashed with powerful magic, and the battleground quickly became scarred and unrecognizable. However, though the Scourge were great in number, they lacked the resilience and drive of the descendant races, and soon enough the mortals were on the verge of triumph. However, no one was prepared for what was to follow. For reasons unknown, the world trembled as a great, massive wave of water arose from the mainland; an impossible occurrence that occurred nonetheless. Whether it was a natural disaster of great magnitude, a ploy enacted by the Scourge itself, or perhaps the vengeance of an angry deity, few stuck around to find out. Within minutes, the mountains themselves were flooding and breaking apart as the world was devastated. The mortals that survived were forced back until they stood before the Doors of Eternity, the link between Anthos and the Fringe, with a decision to make. With heavy hearts, the last survivors of Anthos cut ties to the broken land that had served as their home for half a century, and they closed the Doors of Eternity forever. ----------------------------------------------------------- OOC: And thus, Anthos is closed off permanently to LotC. For some this is great news, for others this is a tragedy, but regardless of personal feelings it is as of this moment in our past. We will spend the remainder of time from now until 4.0 in the Fringe, which will serve as our new home until then. Although nothing is for certain, I will say that many things may be subject to change in the near future now that the Fringe is our one and only map. This includes anything and everything from map policies to server rules to staff stances, so don't be surprised if such things come about. In regards to the event itself: credits to 541 for the screenshot and the many others he took of the event, Firespirit for finding the music and organizing the entire thing, the Event Team for providing much needed help and assistance in keeping the event running, and of course myself for providing useless moral support along the way! Also, we suggest using #goodbyeAnthos @LordoftheCraft to share pictures, comments and general tweets about this event if any of you are avid Twitter users. Anyways, enjoy your roleplaying, fellow Fringeans! Fringicans! Frenchfries! ah screw it...
  3. 7 or so hours left until Anthos goes poof from the main server. Now is the time to run through it one last time before it's gone ^^

  4. After months have gone by during which many things have changed regarding lore, including a change in regulation and expectations for what players are trying to get implemented, renewed interest in this topic has led to the Lore Team reviewing this lore once more. After much deliberation, we are changing our initial verdict from just under a year ago and it is now accepted! Here is a quote of my response to a PM from the OP:
  5. *Changes all his passwords from "Druid" to "Drood"*
  6. Anthos will be closed on Sunday at the specified time mentioned in the OP, but the IC events leading up to the closing will be much sooner. Those events do not have a set beginning time nor date as of yet.
  7. Taken directly from that thread, about 14 hours before you commented here ^
  8. I think you need to take another look at the OP
  9. Aye of course, same conditions will still apply as Anthos for having soul pillars.
  10. Ya there was a vote on that too, though to be honest I wasn't even aware of this rule before the vote came up (silly me!). I'm not sure why that was made a rule, but we are definitely removing it at this point. Players are welcome to their soul pillars!
  11. Greeting, denizens of Anthos the Fringe I don't even know If the title didn't make it obvious enough, we will officially be closing off Anthos exactly one week from tonight at midnight, 11:59 PM EST, Sunday April 13th (1 minute from Monday April 14th). Since the Fringe was released, this topic has been greatly discussed within the staff as well as with the playerbase, and finally after a staff vote with an overwhelming majority in favor of its closing, we are doing just that. After the time frame has passed, there will be no returning to Anthos (No exceptions!), so be sure to take everything you need from the continent and perhaps explore it one last time before it's no longer accessible. We will be working with the Antagonist in the coming days as well to determine the course of IC happenings so that this transition makes sense and the storyline adapts accordingly. When 4.0 rolls around we may or may not put the map of Anthos up for download on our downloads page, and maybe the Fringe as well, so it will not be gone for good! For now, however, say your goodbyes, shed your tears, and piss in your last holes before accepting the Fringe and eventually 4.0 as your new homes. Also, let me take this post as an opportunity to express some things regarding the Fringe. Contrary to apparent popular belief, ALL RULES STILL APPLY IN THE FRINGE! This DOES include the War Rules, which seems necessary for me to single out and mention given the nature of all the battling that has taken place. Returning to battle is still disallowed and will get you warned/banned, raiding more frequently than once every two days (unless other conditions are met as expressed in the war rules) will get the participants warned/banned, poor reasoning to justify breaking these rules (like getting people to come out of their fortifications and using that as an excuse to raid sooner than once every two days) will get you warned/banned, and the list goes on. As mentioned, the same goes for other rules as well. Regions or not, block jumping is still against the rules, unRP and unreasonable griefing or landscarring is still against the rules, noRP killing is still against the rules, etc. This may be a new map and it may have a lot more freedom than Anthos had, but all of the rules still apply, so offenders will be punished just as harshly. As of now, GMs will begin cracking down on this, so be sure to be on your best behavior. Thank you all, and enjoy your roleplay in the Fringe :) - Some random treehugger & the Lord of the Craft Staff
  12. Here yet again with the details and records for last month's modreq completion. 30326 - 684 (26.8%) Frottimer - 426 (16.7%) Zarsies - 300 (11.7%) Crayfishchris - 278 (10.9%) Sky - 133 (5.2%) Cruz - 116 (4.5%) KoTo - 111 (4.4%) Gemmy - 88 (3.4%) Firespirit - 75 (2.9%) Nppeck - 75 (2.9%) Chi - 55 (2.2%) GavLan - 54 (2.1%) Geo - 52 (2.0%) Cappy - 49 (1.9%) TheCleaningCrew - 36 (1.4%) Gabe - 19 (0.7%) Rhia - 4 (0.2%) Total Modreqs - 2621 Total GM Modreqs - 2555 Non-GM Modreqs - 26 Missing Modreqs - 40 Note: The percentages above are based on the GM Modreqs, not the total. Additionally, the "Missing Modreqs" is the number of modreqs that were missing from the modreqs I counted and the RTS total, so my guess is that they belong to an alt account that wasn't listed or they belong to a GM that resigned that I forgot about.

  14. I won't do that considering I have seen nothing about this case before now and thus have nothing to show, but I will definitely be locking this thread. I logged onto the forums a couple of minutes ago because of one simple reason; I'm supposed to be working on a paper in real life (yes, that's a thing), but naturally I couldn't resist the charm of distractions so I decided to pop on to see how things were going. Put simply, what I found in this thread made me regret that choice. Instead of a casual 5 minute glance at the forums, I now probably have to spend the next hour tying loose ends and dealing with whatever drama erupted from this situation, a situation that in my opinion has been blown out of proportion by ALL involved; staff and players alike. I won't pretend like no one has good or justified reasons to be a little upset regarding Chikaea's decision, but with that being said we've arrived at the point in the thread where things are getting out of hand and any and all responses are just becoming redundant or causing flames. Having ten or twenty players each saying the exact same thing isn't going to change things. I will be reassessing the situation myself if need be, and I will ensure that all sides are heard and the situation is amended IF it needs to be. However, for now there is no use leaving this thread open, thus it shall be closed. Also, I'm moving this entire thing to the Off Topic forums. This is not "News" worthy, and I'm a bit confused as to why it was put there in the first place.
  15. I'm supposed to be writing a paper on how the presence of modern media impacts society. Instead, here I am in the Lord of the Craft status updates... so, how's it going guys?

  16. Aye, sorry about that. The_Fringe region that overlaps the entire map has an exit deny flag to prevent people from wandering outside the map, but apparently it is working a little too well and people can't even exit via fast travel. I'm attempting to resolve the issue right now. Thanks for the notice, though! ^^
  17. Feel free to post any screenshots you have taken of the event or the Fringe itself too! Any and all media is welcome :) For the following screenshots, credits to... um, idk. Arzota, I think?
  18. ~*~The Fringe~*~ The Three Keys had finally been gathered, and it was time to open the Door of Eternity. Though Simon, the one in charge of keeping the Keys, was attacked and murdered by the Harbingers, he was able to protect the great relics, which were later retrieved by the descendents. The Order of the Golden Lance asked for aid from the descendents and met up with their leaders in a fortress on a far away island. However, another attack by the Scourge took place there, and the descendent armies valiantly fought them off before taking the members of the Golden Lance towards the old Sanctuary lands. The Scourge followed and fought, even bringing two drakes with them, but the descendent armies were prepared and prevented the death of the leaders of the Golden Lance. They reached the door of Eternity with the Holy Keys, and with a bright light, the door was opened. With shaky yet courageous steps forward, the descendents entered into a new and mystical realm; the realm of… ...the Fringe. ------------------------------------------------------- OOC: And with that, the Fringe has been released! For those of you that aren’t aware, the Fringe is a new area of land located far from the borders of Anthos in RP, an area that has recently been opened to the players. It is what can be considered a ‘sequel’ to the Verge, which was a map expansion back in Aegis, only this time it’s an expansion to Anthos. Yes, it is an expansion, NOT a temp map, as Anthos will remain accessible to all at any time. Getting to the Fringe is quite easy: simply click your heels together three times and shout “I SOMETIMES DAYDREAM OF HAVING SHOPPING SPREES WITH ELDERLY WOMEN!” and you will magically warp there! (No, I’m just joking, please don’t scream that or I will have to subject you to that very punishment, and it’s a very horrible punishment indeed; trust me, I know…). In all seriousness, in order to get to the Fringe, merely travel to the Old Cloud Temple and locate the entrance to the mine. Descend into its depths and you’ll eventually find yourself in the new land one way or another! The map is 99% freebuild (only the spawn area is protected), but that doesn’t mean anything goes. All of the rules that apply to Anthos still apply to the Fringe, so don’t abuse your freedom privileges or consequences will ensue (like forced shopping sprees). The map is also a little bit… rusty, so to speak, as it has been sitting around for a little while, so there are bound to be a lot of kinks and issues (many of which have already been discovered). If you come across any, please inform the staff ASAP and we will do our best to fix them! Finally, I’d like to apologize for the poor organization involved with the releasing of the Fringe. I know many players were frustrated with the lack of announcements regarding the event, the lack of a post (not counting this one), and the lack of… well, anything else, really. Nonetheless, the map is released, so let’s try our hardest to make the best of it and enjoy the experience while we await the much anticipated 4.0! Thanks, The Lord of the Craft Staff
  19. For clarification purposes, The Fringe is not a temp map, it is an expansion. Temp maps are maps that we completely transition to (aka we leave the main map behind completely) while we wait for the next main map to come, which is exactly what Elysium and Kalos were. The Fringe, like the original Verge, is an expansion, which is to say that the main map is still accessible.

I like it. Can't wait for the silly walls that people always feel compelled to make... e ,e

  21. Correct, that is perfectly alright. So long as you're not doing things like abusing glitches to get over the wall (block jumping, sitting on a chair that is out of reach, etc.), it's fair game. However, as with all things, if you're questioning whether a method or action is allowed or not, feel free to ask (kinda like you're doing right now :P) !
