  1. Creating fun events that the community can partake in, this particular one being an event unrelated to IC ties where IC conflict won't be an influence, so that the entire community can come together as one while we have a blast on various servers? I know, exciting!
  2. Blacklisting works very similar to banning in various ways. Players that misuse the privilege of engaging in villainous RP can be blacklisted from it either temporarily for a set period of time, until an appeal is accepted, or permanently without a chance of appeal. GMs and Admins will deal with these players and will be the ones to determine the nature and conditions of their blacklisting. Additionally, GMs and Admins will have to fill out a short form documenting the blacklisted player (including mcnames of all alt accounts), what they did to get blacklisted, and the conditions of their blacklisting (temporary vs permanent, appeal date if applicable, etc.). These forms will be posted in a visible(?) forum, and they will be moved into an invisible subforum once the blacklisting term is finished OR the blacklisted player is banned permanently. Rather than having its own format, blacklisted players can use the one for ban appeals to get removed from the blacklist. Blacklisting Rules Blacklisted players cannot: Engage in banditry, burglary or theft I.E. Don’t steal, whether from other players or from chests Partake in torture Commit murder; exceptions include: Self-defense, but only if murder is the only way of defending yourself Execution, IF it is the punishment for a breaking a justified law within a specified settlement AND the settlement’s leaders call for it (each individual case must be approved) Be involved with cults* *Cults are defined as groups that partake in illegal activities to suit their own goals, which can range from murder and torture to involvement with the antag(s) “Involvement” includes cult organization, membership, or association Be involved in the antagonist This includes being an antagonist as well as being associated with the antagonist Be involved in raids This involves organization of raids as well as actually partaking in them Note: Unless an exception is explicitly stated, all reasons for doing one of the above actions are disallowed, even if those reasons appear seemingly logical and/or reasonable.
  3. Howdy, Atherans! I'm pleased to announce that we will be hosting the first Derpfest that LotC has seen in well over a year this coming Saturday, the 3rd of January, at 5:00 PM EST. For those that weren't around when Derpfest was hosted in the past, it's essentially a massive out-of-server event where we get as many LotC players as we can and go around having fun server hopping. That is, we all join a server and have fun on it before joining another, then another, then another, and so on and so on until we feel like stopping. We will have a channel on our server's official TeamSpeak that we encourage you to join, and it will be, without a doubt, a ton of fun! I do have to remind you all, however, that general conduct rules will still be in place during this event. We don't want players giving our server a bad name by being nuisances, so we'll expect that any who attend will follow the rules of any server we happen to join. We're doing this to have fun, not to troll other servers (and if you only have fun trolling, perhaps this isn't the event for you). A few GMs and perhaps an Admin or two will be present, so be sure to be on your best behavior! The usual rundown of the event is that we meet in TeamSpeak at the designated time and we start taking requests from anyone present for what server we should join. Usually the host will decide based upon the suggestions, then everyone joins that server and just has fun. After a while, if people start wanting to change things up, more suggestions will pour in and then we'll decide the next server to jump to. If you find a server you like, you are obviously not required to leave it and continue on with the Derpfest train, so it's really up to you how you'd like to go about this event. Remember, the number one goal is to have fun! In the past we've had upwards of 50 players partaking in Derpfest. I hope we can match or even beat those numbers this time around! Happy derping, Rittsy, the Derp Druid EDIT: The TeamSpeak we are using is NOT the official server TS. Instead, we will be using Kowaman's. The IP is 108.61.46.211:7142
  4. I never played the game before it supposedly "went to crap", but I and many other still think it's a ton of fun, so I guess that's something you'll have to check on yourself. As for being pay to win, it certainly offers bonuses to those that pay, like any MMORPG, but it's not pay to win. Paying to win means that you have to pay for certain things that can only be acquired through payment, but everything that can be bought in RotMG can be acquired through hard work, trading, and/or fame. I myself have already done a lot more than a lot of p2p players and I haven't spent a cent. I wouldn't say paying gives you an advantage either, because it's not like you're playing against other players, but rather you're playing with other players.
  5. This thread details all of the information regarding the LotC guild that has been established in the game "Realm of the Mad God" (RotMG), and provides a place for us to answer any questions or concerns regarding it. To those of you who are new to the game and wish to know a bit more before joining the guild, I suggest reading this guide that I concocted: RotMG Guide. General Guild Information The name of the guild is, quite simply, "Lord of the Craft", and there are 50 spots available for people that wish to join it, which is more than enough for everyone that wishes to partake in our antics. The only way to join is if you are nearby an existing member of the guild in-game who is of officer rank or higher. You are not required nor expected to perform any tasks for the guild or maintain a certain amount of activity, as we maintain a casual approach to the game. However, it is likely that we will try and organize guild events often, so it is worth it to pay attention to the in-game notice board and recognize when we will be hosting such things! Our main server is USEast, so be sure that you get on that one whenever a guild event is occurring. Joining the Guild Finding someone in the guild that can invite you to join is a more daunting task than it might seem. However, before you even do that, RotMG requires that your account have at least one star before attempting to join a guild. This means completing a single class quest for any character, and you can almost always achieve this upon the death of your first character. Essentially, you have to reach 20 fame on that character, and because of fame bonuses resulting from your first play through, you should well exceed 20. I died at level 8 or so on my first character and earned 77 fame, so it shouldn't be too hard. As for finding someone, I suggest using Skype or forum PMs to personally ask an officer within the guild to make arrangements. You will have to meet up on the same server and be within a few tiles of each other, then you'll have to accept their invitation to join the guild. Since our main server is USEast, it could also be possible to merely stumble into an officer by hanging around in the Nexus of that server, though messaging is a better way to join nonetheless. It is worth noting that the officer will be unable to invite you to join if you are already a member of another guild, so you should be sure to leave that one first. The current list of officers is as follows (Forum name - RotMG Name): Alan - Rittsy (Leader) Arzar - Iblees Note: As the guild has only just been made, there aren't many officers or members. In the coming days, I expect the list above to grow significantly.

  7. This might just be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. *sheds a tear*
  8. He's not saying we're officially RPG-PVP, he's saying it's his opinion that what we've become such a server, whether intentionally or unintentionally. I can only say this for him because Menarra and I have talked about this recently, and although we both agree that our server's "focus" is on RP, it's up for debate whether or not we are in a true "RP-RPG" state. It's a large part of the reason that we're trying to make changes like this which encourage better and stronger RP, but we'll have to see how it works out.
  9. I see a lot of people asking for clarification on what a villain should or should not do. While I think it's a bit disappointing that we're still at that stage in our server where people have to ask that question, I'd say it's wise and better to know for sure. When we create the blacklist thread, you can be sure that we'll include a general guide on villainy that should more than suit the question of "What can I do to ensure I don't get blacklisted?". It won't be terribly long and in-depth though, because we'll expect that a certain amount of common sense will be needed in order to be a good villain anyways. And, in case anyone was wondering, we will ideally try and take experience into consideration. We will be much more likely to blacklist a "veteran" player that has had months if not years on this server to develop their villainy RP than a new player that is only just getting the groove of things. In fact, it would take a very significant breach of conduct for us to even consider blacklisting a new player, and at that point they'd probably just be banned anyways. I wouldn't say it's much to worry about, but I guess we'll have to see how it goes!
  10. Greetings, Lord of the Craftians! Today, I come before you to announce the implementation of a villainy blacklist system. Whether some of us want to admit it or not, something the staff believes is apparent is that the quality of villainous RP has been steadily declining since Aegis. While there used to be a Villain Application (VA) system that was put into place when this first started happening in order to combat the issue, kinks in the system led to its eventual removal. However, while it was imperfect and caused many problems that couldn't be overlooked, it did offer one great perk that we have not reimplemented until now: a blacklist. The blacklist was, is, and will be a method of filtering out the "bad eggs" that are giving villainous RP a bad name. Most people will be completely unaffected by it, but those on it will have to adhere to a specific set of restrictions until they are removed from the blacklist. Essentially, it works in the opposite way that VAs did. Whereas VAs had it that everyone was initially blacklisted and had to get an accepted VA in order to partake in villainy, this system will have it that everyone is initially allowed to partake in the privilege of villainy until they prove they are incapable of doing so and are blacklisted. More information on this can be found below! ~ ~ ---------------------------------------------------- ~ ~ General Information Blacklisting works very similar to banning in various ways. If any of these rules hurt you, your character or your RP, don’t get blacklisted! As a final note, keep in mind that the above rules are sort of a rough draft / version 1. That is, it is very likely that we will update it regularly depending on a variety of things, so don't expect what you see now to be set in stone.
  11. banned fer no reason, cuz im corrupt admun and dont need a reason
  12. Wait, so Snow Elves aren't prone to epilepsy? :(
  13. Sorry that I have to be the one to say it, but this isn't a democracy. It's not up to the players who become staff members, and it's certainly not up to the players who become Admins. The Administration's decision in promoting Cappy was unanimous, and we were the ones to decide because we are the ones who know what it takes to be an Admin, what one needs to help us advance the server. Agree or disagree, that is how it is, that is how it has always been, and that is how it always will be. If you can't accept that, than I kindly remind you that the door is available to you at all times and you are perfectly welcome to find another server or community that does work like that. As for the people stating how trigger happy Cappy is, perhaps it might ease your mind if I explain why it might appear that way. Back in the early days of LotC, Admins and GMs alike were FAR more ready to ban people for the littlest things without a moment's hesitation. I specifically remember how Neko and Availer would quite literally ban people for insulting them or other players, and later GMs such as Respiren and Dusk would follow in their footsteps. However, as time has gone on in this community, people have become more and more upset with this because of a growing sense of self-entitlement, because of an increasingly dominant belief that we act like a judiciary system and there has to be a trial by jury. We do NOT act like that, and we WILL ban you if WE deem it necessary. Cappy is "quick to ban" because he is one of our oldest staff members and was a GM when Neko, Respiren and Dusk were still around, so he learned a lot from them. He might seem relatively more strict and blunt than other GMs, but compared to older staff he is VERY lenient, especially since he only adheres to the rules. Essentially, I'm trying to suggest that you count your blessings. Half of the things that occur on LotC nowadays would have never flown a few years ago, so be happy that you're able to say the things you can say now. I have high hopes and great expectations for Cappy, and I still fully believe we made the right choice in promoting him.

I'd appreciate a rule regarding demons and villains that are younger than 18. It's just retarded.

    4. DrakeHaze.

      DrakeHaze.

Should also make a rule stating you can't have intercourse with Demons or Event Characters.

  16. Status ability has been returned for all users.

  17. Greeting Atherans, At last, a series of events spanning many, many weeks has come to an end. Keys were found, doors were unlocked, and, in a grand finale, an old face was revealed once more to Lord of the Craft. But what does this mean for the future of our server? It's hard to say as of now, but perhaps we can give you a slight taste of what is to come!
  18. For those wondering about the odd difficulty of the challenge, that was 100% intentional. I'm hearing that "half" of the people in the event failed to get up, but I was actually expecting closer to the vast majority of people being unable to get to the end. The challenge wasn't meant to be difficult so much as it was intended to be long and repetitive, making a single mistake very drastic. This was because it was expected that 50+ people would show up to participate, and we didn't want just anyone to get to the finish line. This is also the exact reason that we added a way stone to get from the first island to the last after just one person finished the parkour, as we wanted people to see it yet knew it was unrealistic that people would be generally able to complete the route. As for the blank loot and lack of anything to see, we were actually planning on putting a bunch of cool stuff in including like 15 or so lore books, so in my opinion the event began a bit prematurely. We can still add in the loot as it's not too big of a deal that it was missed the first time, but it's unfortunate that the build and event, which have both had weeks of work put into them, have been classified as "bland" due to lack of content. Despite this, I hope you guys enjoyed the event, or at least the parts you were able to partake in.
  19. I'm not lying when I say that this is probably the most ridiculous reason for returning statuses yet. That isn't to say there isn't good reason to bring them back, as numerous players have given incredibly valid and logical justification for their return, but this is just absurd. Not only are you complaining because a practically useless forum group with no perks or abilities with only 2 members in it was removed, but you're complaining because you can't "rant" about it and because you're admittedly too lazy to PM a staff member. Even so, there IS an explanation via statuses. "Viper3X - Redundant forum groups removed: Team Leader, Lead Developer, Developer, The Haunted, Creative Wizard and Grass VIP. My apologies if this negatively impacts you." This is still among the 5 most recent updates, so if you're also too lazy to even look for an explanation, you shouldn't be complaining.
  20. I've read 100-200 replies of generally the same stuff, it's already apparent that the majority of people have the same view, although as there are always are there are a select few with differing opinions than the majority. Here's what I've gathered so far based on what MOST people seem to be saying: Status Updates: Pointless, but they are good for a variety of things. Any drama that passes through them is rare and usually not even taken seriously, so stricter moderation is all that's needed. Overall, players are in favor of their resurrection. Reputation: Most people don't care one way or another what happens to reputation. Those that have provided substantial feedback on it have mostly said that it's removal was a positive change, though of course a few people think otherwise. Overall, people are in favor of it remaining removed. It's still too early to say what the fate of either will be, but that's simply what I've gathered from posts over the past few days.
