  1. Thanks for sharing this Dalek, the screenshots you’ve managed to keep over the years were really helpful in putting this video together. As someone from the other side, I’ll say the undead did a great job of keeping us on our toes. It’s good to know the enjoyment was shared on both ends. For me personally, I’ll always miss the lived-in feel of Aegis, and the fluidity of character interactions, with everyone effectively being a new player. While I can appreciate the server has had to move on and adapt to new audiences during its lifespan, LotC never felt as natural or free-flowing as it did in the beginning.

  3. Hi guys, For those who weren’t aware, LotC recently passed its 10-year mark. In 2011, when Minecraft itself was still in its early days, a lot of us went ahead and filled out the application form to join what was then a new and upcoming fantasy RP server. Now, while many who were present in the beginning are either still around or just drop by the forum occasionally, it’s true to say that screenshots and footage from this time remain relatively scarce. After a bit of digging, I’ve managed to pull together something that might help to rekindle at least some of those memories. So, to the players of Aegis, whether moved on long ago or still here today, this one is for you. 5. Taking a raven feathered quill and a pot of ink, Edgar Sarkozic, Chancellor of Adria, signs his brother's name at the bottom of the scroll on the Duke's behalf. "His Lordship, John of House Sarkozic, Duke of Adria, Baron of Dormont, Protector of the Midlands."
  6. ========================================= Name of the Treaty: Union of Crow and Ram ========================================= Type of Treaty: Alliance ========================================= [Nation / Freebuild] [Name: ] Duchy of Adria [Nation / Freebuild] [Name: ] March of Ostmark ========================================= Date of Signing: 1663 ========================================= It was not a large assembly. Banner guards, carrying the banners of Crow and Ram, posted outside the cathedral of Saint Emma. The tavern across the street boomed noise, a few drunken Adrian peasants stumbling out to peer on the noble marriage. Eimar var Burgundar embraced his soon-to-be son-in-law with the love of a father. The young duke, John, waited up at the altar as a quiet and timid bride, not one of many words, walked up the aisle. No, it was not a marriage of love; political intellectuals would remark, though, it was one of familial necessity. Amelia var Burgundar and John Sarkozic’s arms were wrapped in the banner of House Sarkoz. The priest spoke the hymns and ceremonies with effortless remembrance, though a spark of joy in his voice when the name of Sarkozic passed off his lips. The ceremony was not one of pomp, rather quick. With the marriage kiss, the Crows and Rams rose in cheer, which drowned out even the din of the tavernites. Like the two families joined in marriage, so too did the church-goers and the drinkers of the newly erected tavern. Out poured the Sarkozics, out poured the Burgundars, out poured the priest and the Vladovics and Ivanoviches, out poured the guards and down fell the flags. Merriment rang on through the night, as the celebratory groom became rowdily drunk. Though, his timid bride sat there with a content smile, glad in her new home of happy people and loud songs. The sun rose over the town of Belvitz, come early morning a town crier announced to the rising peasants. Our duke is married! Amelia var Burgundar, now Amelia Sarkoz, is our Duchess! ---------------------------- Signed, His Lordship, John of House Sarkozic, Duke of Adria, Baron of Dormont, Protector of the Midlands His Lordship Eimar of House var Burgundar, Margrave of Ostmark, Count of Götha, Baron of Geatea, Cyrilsburg, Riga, Aleksandria, Westmark, Eastmark, Royal Knight, Protector of the Southlands and Master of the Hunt

  8. Role-play: The irony that Adria would be restored with the quelling of a rebellion was not lost on John Sarkozic. It had been over a century since the church in Brelus had been burnt by Savoyard Imperialists, the generals of fire and cold steel laying waste to the once fertile plains that overflowed around it. Its wooden walls lay broken in a forgotten land, far away from the town known as Belvitz. John looked upon a map from the royal court in Senntisten, down at the label and illustration of a hamlet near the Cloud Temple. This is mine. Promised and Bestowed, this land is mine. There was but one hitch: the deluded keepers of Belvitz refused to return to his Majesty’s court. The deluded group of stragglers from a once prominent group dug into the dirt before the promise of prosperity for Adria, and laid their trenches in its way. The rebels, led by a southeron who was in reality of little importance, defied his Majesty. In another life, Brelus stood in a similar position. However, today those stragglers blocked his way. Belvitz’s way. Today, John would bring with him the grandsons of Brelus, of Adria. They would march forth, and from Senntisten they would bring the fire, the cold steel. No church would burn to the ground, but the ashes of those walls would serve as the fertilizer for plentiful fields not yet sowed. CBs: Rebellion. Side A: Renatus. Side B: Rebels. 4. Cracker
  13. Crackerjack created the Dawnsworn as Forest Dwarves, though it's generally accepted now that they're half Irongut, thus half Cave Dwarf and half Forest Dwarf.
  14. Just to address the issue with the seventh son that some dwarves gave as a reason to deny cmack's last piece of origin lore. When the original sons of Urguan were established, not once did we ever take into consideration the forest dwarves in our lore, nor had we thought of how they came to be. As per our current lore, three clans evolved into what we now know as mountain dwarves, one clan became the forest dwarves, while the rest became the cave dwarven families, thus making them the majority. Now as a possible reason for which we might disregard them from our history books is simply that they were different and were never truly considered to be true dwarves. For that reason, this lore has my personal support and I believe if there are any conflicts that arise, we can quite easily begin to work around them and ensure everything is consistent.
  15. A tall, brooding dwarf with a long head of red hair stood atop a mountain, beneath him stretching a large pine forest. As the morning sun had begun to rise into the sky, the dwarf sat himself upon a ledge, supporting his balance with the hilt of large battle axe, forged from the finest of dwarven steel. His attire consisted of various furs and leather padding and on his feet, he wore a pair of hide boots. The brading of his beard was interlocked with golden rings which drooped down towards his waste. Setting down his crossbow, he gazed across the snowy wastelands for any signs of life. Though dawn had passed, the cold airs from the west could be felt brushing against his skin. Earlier in the night, he had managed to escape imprisonment from one of the Orenian cities. Though having dealt with the guard captain, he was aware of the likelihood that he was still being trailed. He remembered little of the lands in which he now found himself. His name was Morgrim, the eldest son of Valen Grandaxe. Long years had passed since the days he'd walked the great mountains of Aegis as a Beardling. So many of his kin had been lost for the sake of defending the dwarven heartlands, whether for honour or pure necessity He was raised within the great dwarven hold of Kal'Domhain, where he learnt the true ways of a mountain dwarf. Years of harsh and arduous training had built him into the dwarf he was today. He rose to his feet, lifting up the battle axe with his right hand and slinging the crossbow over his shoulder. As he strode onwards, the air begun to grow colder and the sun's rays were shadowed by the rolling white clouds above his head. Before him now stood the vast plains of ice and snow that stretched to the far side of the valley. Flakes of snow had begun to fall, nestling themselves before his feet as he slowly lumbered on, his thick boots digging deep into the snowy grounds. The rejoining together of his kin was something he greatly anticipated for it had been many years since he had been given the chance to meet with his younger relatives. Now together once again, the Blackaxes would rejoin as one. Here, the tale of Morgrim Grandaxe would begin anew.
  16. As you make your way inside the newly built Dreadfort, you see a large Blackmont banner and beneath it, a parchment nailed into the wood. It reads as follows. Blackmont Tournament "To the loyal men of House Blackmont, Do you wish to test your strength against your comrades? Perhaps you would rather stop by at the Dreadfort for a drink or two? In two elven days ((Sunday, 4PM EST)), we are to host a tournament at the Dreadfort, open to all bannermen, allies and friends of House Blackmont. Drinks and food will be on the house to all competitors, should they wish to replenish their strength between fights. Weapons will also be provided. If you wish to take part in this tournament, please fill out the following form and deliver it to the Dreadfort before the tournament begins. ((Send me a PM via the forum.)) The prizes are as follows: 1st place - Fifteen iron blocks 2nd place - Five iron blocks 3rd place - One iron block I wish each of you the best of look and may the best man win. 17. As you make your way inside the newly built Dreadfort, you see a large Blackmont banner and beneath it, a parchment nailed into the wood. It reads as follows. "To the bannermen of House Blackmont and those who once called themselves loyal to my father, I address this letter to you as my brothers and request that you lay your trust in what I have to tell you. Though I am young and undoubtedly inexperienced in the field of leadership, I share the same dutiful nature as you all. Though you have been forced to endure the tragic deaths of both my father and now my brother, I insist to inform you all that this is not the end. In the last week, we have relocated to new lands that lie upon the coast of the Empire's capital, Abreesi. From there, we will rebuild and forge a legacy that Augustus would be proud of. I first intend to have us step up on recruitment and further improve our position within the Empire. Beds and accommodation for any wishing to join our ranks are readily available, should they require it. Secondly, you are each required to contact me so that we may establish what role within House Blackmont is best suited to your specialities. I further wish to inform you that funding is being put into the running of a tavern besides the city of Kingston, named 'The Flayed Man Tavern.' Should you find your day's duties complete, I would highly recommend that you all pay the establishment a visit. I extend my best wishes to each of you and I pray that the future brings all that you desire. Forever we shall remain, loved by none, feared by all." The parchment bears a carefully written signature at the bottom. "Lucius Blackmont, Lord of House Blackmont."

  19. House Blackmont “Loved by None, Feared by All” House History Following his return after 20 years of exile, August Flay - Lord of House Flay - reformed his renowned household with the blessing of the Emperor Godfrey in the Holy Oren Empire. Unfortunately for him, much had changed in the decades of his disappearance, and the paramountcy he once enjoyed in Oren politics was a thing of the past. New powers ruled in Oren. Unwilling to face the fact that his power had long since waned, August Flay allied himself with the Teutonic Order and challenged the Order of the White Rose; a grievous error on his part. Having not given himself enough time to gather his strength, House Flay was dealt a decisive defeat by the numerically superior Roses and their allies, and to all those in Oren and outside - appeared to have been shattered completely. Indeed it seemed this way in the aftermath. In his rage and denial, August Flay removed dozens of men from his service, murdered loyal subordinates, and began plotting his return to power. He hired sellswords, he gathered vassal houses. Most importantly, he sent a request to the Emperor. A change of his name, from the infamous Flay to the newly coined Blackmont. In this, August hoped to start anew, establish a new identity for himself and his men in the Empire. Having gathered what men he deemed loyal and fit, the first Lord Blackmont began plotting and planning, intent on retaking what he once held. In an effort to consolidate his position, Lord Augustus I hammered out alliances and took on new vassals, becoming liege to the Houses Carrion, Woods, Letholdus, and Greymane. Upon his arrival to the land of Anthos with his personal army, Lord Blackmont moved quickly to establish a new base of operations and wasted no time in resuming his activities of intimidation and terror. Peace never did last long when Lord Augustus Blackmont was involved. In a bid for more power and additional land, he declared formal war upon the Teutonic Order, relying on his terror tactics and superior numbers - albeit inferior organization. Additionally, a son was born to him by his wife, Lorin Chivay, the son that Augustus had prayed for for so many decades. With this new heir, Tiberius, born, Augustus groomed him from the beginning - so that he could properly assume control of House Blackmont upon his own death. With tensions only increasing along with open conflict in north, battle lines were drawn as different noble houses decided who they were to fight alongside. At full strength and readily mobilized for war, House Blackmont geared itself to fight any that they deemed necessary in order to advance in status and power. With the help of House Blackmont's allies, a siege upon the Dreadfort was broken and the Teutonic Order forced into retreat. In his final days, Augustus lived to see the day that the Order was officially disbanded, before finally dying in his bed, alongside his most trusted followers. Shortly thereafter, his eldest son, Tiberius, was named his successor. Though he held much resentment towards his father for his harsh and peculiar upbringing, he quickly took the reigns in House Blackmont as Lord Tiberius Blackmont II. In an event known by many as the 'Crimson Banquet,' Tiberius arranged a feast to celebrate his own rule over House Blackmont. Here, as a toast was declared in his honour, he was poisoned and died instantly. In the subsequent confusion, accusations were thrown between the Bannerman and a brawl quickly ensued. In the chaos, the Dreadfort was set alight and the surviving Bannerman forced to seek a new home from the Emperor. Under the new Lordship of Augustus's youngest son, Lucius, they rebuilt the Dreadfort close to Oren's capital, where they intended to restore the House to its former glory. Customs The most noticeable feature about House Blackmont is its practice of skinning its enemies alive, and in some cases dead. Soldiers hang trophies of these skins, from any and all races and allegiances, as a show of glory. These sometimes full body husks of rotting flesh are seen as a sign of military merit in the House, and the more a soldier has on his wall, the more respected and prone for bonuses. Within the upper echelons of House Blackmont, many shroud their more devious nature, utilising a silver tongued wit to escape the most dangerous encounters. Though soldiers of House Blackmont are known for their ruthless appetites, over the years, they have further learnt to appreciate the importance of subtlety and deception. Goals The men of House Blackmont have but one will, that of their leader - the Lord of Blackmont. What he has in priority is known only to him truly, but the household and those who lead it have always been known to have an affinity for chaos and corruption. Their lust for power is unparalleled in the Empire, and their brutality is not matched by any other force that serves the Emperor. Responsibilities Becoming a soldier for House Blackmont is taxing both physically and mentally. Tasks often are of a violent and immoral nature, including but not exclusive to: intimidation, robbery, murder and torture. Nothing is off limits to a Blackmont man, if he knows what is best for him. 20. Ser Audric Silverblade begins to nail a large scrolls upon the Sherwood notice board. Upon it scribed in intricate letters are the words... "Greetings all Knights, Squires and enlisted men of the Chapter of the Silver Gauntlet. It is a great honour that I am to announce the various changes being made to our Knight's Chapter. After our first meeting, the Chapter of the Iron Sun has officially been renamed to the Chapter of the Silver Gauntlet. The parchment is signed with the signature "Commander Great Ser Audric Silverblade" and bears the gauntlet sigil of the Chapter.
  21. The Bannermen of House Silverblade Lore The Bannermen of House Silverblade were founded by House Silverblade and its vassals, House Baelish, House Stafyr, House Greymane and House Ishikiwa, originally named the Guardians of Furnestock, for the purpose of protecting the Duchy of Furnestock and its people. Though the prospect of a unified military originally worked well, the situation changed as war ensued across Oren and old rivalries emerged. As the Emperor granted Pius Silverblade the Duchy of Valence, the Silverblades soon found themselves with the duty of defending two Duchies. Within Furnestock, loyalties drifted as the Kingdom of Hanseti declared war upon their vassal House Blackmont, leading many to question what role House Silverblade should play. It was then that Count Daniel Baelish, Commander of the Guardians of Furnestock ordered many of the rangers beneath him to defect to Hanseti. Though a bounty was quickly placed upon his head, the damage had already been done. With the true loyalties of the Guardians of Furnestock being put into questions, House Silverblade and its vassals once again split up their Bannermen, forming separate divisions. Today their duty is to defend the Holy Oren Empire and to protect those living under House Silverblade's lands. Ranks Commander: The Commander is the leading figure of the Bannermen of House Silverblade and is selected by the Elders of House Silverblade. He manages who holds what position within the Guardians and lays out battle and training tactics to his Captains. He is renowned for his leadership skills and will stop at nothing to ensure the success of the bannermen in battle. Captain: There are two Captains, one who leads over the Bannermen of Furnestock and another who leads the Bannermen of Valence. They are chosen specifically for their display of loyalty and talents of leadership in battle. The Captains are also some of the most skilful warriors and watch over the Masters of Arms as they trains their soldiers and assigns them to their correct groups. It is the Captain's role to ensure that the warriors who serve on behalf of his House are working effectively. They also lay out training schedules and report any progress back to the Commander. Master of Arms: There are four Masters of Arms in total, two who serve under each of the Captains. Besides those who outrank them, they are the most skilled of all the Guardians. They work closely with both the Captains and the Commander, acting as a link with the Recruits to ensure that the bannermen are properly trained. Man-at-Arms: Recruits who prove themselves in battle earn themselves the right to be promoted to a Man-at-Arms. The basic soldier of all the bannermen, the Men-at-Arms swear themselves to House Silverblade. These men will mainly be used to patrol the Duchies and Counties that they serve and will perform all tasks assigned by the Commander, Captains and Masters of Arms. Recruit: Any "fresh meat" to the Guardians of Furnestock immediately start out as Recruits. They are not expected to know how to fight very well and need to be trained by the Master of Arms in order to be granted a promotion to a Man-at-Arms. These men are equipped with leather and chain and get paid the minimum wage.
