wow who the hell said that @Zarsies? that’s really sad! joel is unbelievably active and taking on levels of risk most people’d piss their pants trying to accomplish—no shit he’s going to fuck up. mix that with his attitude where he doesn’t take shit from nobody and yes it’s going to be more annoying than someone more passive screwing up. i say this knowing full well he is not a fan of mine, but he isn’t deserving of that

Idiots back then honestly seemed better than idiots now, but that may just be perspective.

I didn’t post that with context because Joel is already in the know so mb; I wrote that @ing Joel because he gave everyone a pass to vent at him so I went on a brief, satirical tirade assuming the perspective of someone who has felt victimized by him for a little laugh. On a wholeheartedly serious note, however, @Telanir:

I avoid making drama or throwing up long, ranty threads about things on LotC but one thing that has gotten under my skin is the misguided anger at the ST which is centered around Joel being vilified. Some days it seems like truly no one grasps how absolutely crucial Joel is to the server, especially right now. His direction and decision making makes waves amongst the team and players and between him, ST management, and Rift, the ST has blown Flam’s entire tenure out of the water in just a few months. Of course we will experience growing pains and metaphorical bruising by course-correcting this train but his insights in discussion and tough, creative decision making are invaluable. People paint him as the enemy over the most frivolous acts they see as injustices because they cannot reckon with the thought that maybe, just maybe, they are wrong or misguided. No one is perfect of course, I nor Joel included, but it’s heartbreaking and disgruntling when I see misinformed or wholly uninformed people in stray discords moaning about him or just being truly nasty. Joel does us a service with his time and expertise and god damn have people got to chill out for a moment and recognize his value.
