When you wander by your resident Church, you notice a man in rags at a booth asking if you'll take a poll for a study of his! He offers you free bread, and gives you a form depending on your status in the realm. He even reads it for you if you can't read! An alteration is made, evident on the notice board outside the Cathedral in Felsen. "Prince Charles Francis has taken oaths of ordination into the clergy of the Canonist Church, forfeiting his secular titles. He shall perform the service as Father Charles." A missive is dispatched to all the Lords and Clergy of the Realms of Man and Elves; To you, most esteemed friend of the Imperial House of Horen, The First Emperor of the Fifth Empire has died, and as befitting he who united the Empire once again, and brought the Canon Faith to the far reaches of the world, we his kin seek to honor his life, and offer him a remembrance deserving of him. A memorial service shall be held in the Felsen Cathedral by Charles Francis, Deacon of the Canonist Faith and son of John I. All clergy, nobility and peasantry are invited to attend. Charles frowns as he receives the missives, remarking; "My father may not have been loved, but a lesser man than him would no doubt have been ousted long ago. A proud man he was, but he fought to decimate the dwarves so that they may never threaten to take advantage of civil strife in Oren again. He may have failed in this, but he certainly got closer than his predecessors. If you are so dull as to claim the throne via your reverant greed, and fall into the hands of the inhuman enemies of man and use their strength to deal damage to the Empire, then you surely are the proudest men in the world. What's more, my father is dead, let us not speak so ill of the departed with such grandeur, for GOD's sake."

Somewhere in the mountains of Vandoria, a pilgrim prince's eyes drift across the snow spattered peaks as he contemplates the death of the late Augustus, the Butcher. A sudden gust of wind rushes up the mountainside towards him like a torrent of fear, and the cowl of his earthy robes is thrown off of him. He instantly kneels, raising his hands to pull the cowl over his head tightly as the gust passes, his eyes closed. As the torrent ends, a quiet sobbing can be heard, the craven pilgrim overtaken with news that was told to him many weeks ago. "Nuncle August... God, be his guide."

Charles commends Nafis' noble declaration. Any dwarf who marches to aid the rebels within Vandorian borders; they were no better than the Dunamites themselves.

Charles raises a brow in bewilderment, having not been consulted on this whatsoever. He takes great offense.

Charles exclaims; "No tour in Vandoria?!"

"Ave Oren?" The young Prince remarks, wondering who these Lorrainians are truly loyal to.

Charles is quite occupied in his study, deciphering the logistics of taking the fortress. After a moment he slaps himself on the forehead, realizing there are no logistical necessities for taking an empty fortress. Instead he dispatches a hairless halfling with a swine mount to claim the wall and place the Vandorian banner.

Charles Francis pens a response, unsure where to send it, he places it on the notice board. "Sirrah, The City of Al'Wakrah is a vassal of the Kingdom of Vandoria; to threaten the City is to threaten the Kingdom. If you have allegations to present upon citizens of the Kingdom, very well, but public threats will be met with resistance from the White Riders and our Orenian allies. ~ Prince Charles Lord Chancellor of Vandoria

Charles, once again, collapses on the ground, laughing uncontrollably.

Charles taps his fingers on the table in his study thoughtfully, "He can surrender..."

Charles grins at the responses, ecstatic that he will be able to participate in the destruction of the murderers and vagabonds who refused to accept that this world was one which needed law, and balance. "They are... Miserable," he remarks to himself, his grin fading slightly as he bites his lip. "They have lost nearly every battle. Vandoria has fallen apart around them and now they stand, alone. Defeating them will be astronomically simple... Yet even I do not rejoice at the idea of beating a sick dog to death." Charles makes the sign of the Lorraine as his squire assists him on setting his ebony armor. Flexing his fingers under his gauntlet before making a fist, he nods, prepared to eradicate the final opponent to Vandorian unity. "Victory for the Vanders, and death to Dunamis."

The First Edict of Aulic Formation With the recent formation of the Kingdom of Vandoria, His Exalted Grace, Lord Protector Nafis of Al-Dirahk, does decree the formation of the Aulic Council of Vandoria. It is through this Council that the King of Vandoria, or the Kingdom's recognize regent, shall exercise his will in the realm. They shall additionally advise the designated sovereign on matters of state and diplomacy. Edicts issued by Aulic Councillors must be confirmed by the aforementioned designated sovereign. The Aulic Councillors The King-in-Council; His Exalted Excellency, Nafis of Al-Dirahk The King-in-Council is the King's title as seated on the Aulic Council. He has absolute and irrefutable command over the military, economy, diplomacy, and all other stately matters, private, public, domestic and foreign. In the event there is a temporary vacancy on the Vandorian throne, the legally designated Lord Regent shall hold this position in council. The Lord Chancellor; His Imperial Highness, Charles of Furnestock The Royal Chancellor is charged with the maintenance of the Crown’s relationship with its people, vassals, and foreign entities. Additionally, the Royal Chancellor is the administrator for the Aulic Council, organizing, updating, and directing them in their tasks. The Royal Chancellor is the default designated regent of the Kingdom, and his authority is superseded only by the King-in-Council. The Lord Marshal; His Excellency, Darius de Denesle The Royal Marshal is the general of the armies of the Kingdom of Vandoria. He is charged with the security of the Kingdom’s borders, and the extinguishment of threats both external and internal. He has the power to rally the Kingdom’s banners at his discretion, for the defense of the Kingdom’s wellbeing. His authority is superseded only by the Royal Chancellor and the King-in-Council. The Lord Justice; The Lord Justice is charged with the administration of the Courts of Vandoria. He has he power to try and convict criminals of the state, as well as rule on internal disputes between Lords or commoners, if the situation calls for it. He shall maintain the Laws of Vandoria, update and alter them to best suit the fair and legal practices of the Kingdom. The Lord Treasurer; The Lord Treasurer is charged with the maintenance and management of the Crown’s economic endeavors and the treasury itself. He has the authority collect the taxes due to the Crown, and administrate trade routes and relationships with settlements both internal and external. In the event that taxes go unpaid, at the discretion of the Lord Treasurer, he may repossess material of equivalent value from the offender. The Lord Steward; His Excellency, Jory Marbrand The Lord Steward is charged with the maintenance and management of the Crown’s land and holdings. They oversee construction and destruction of structures, settlements, castles, forts, etc., and maintain themselves as Overseer of the stewardship of the Crown’s direct holdings. They have the power to establish building plans for all settlements within the Kingdom, and approve or deny plans put forth by the Lords of the realm.

Charles is ecstatic at the prospect of Vandorian unity, and offers a prayer to Saint Otto.

Charles, upon hearing this declaration, dispatches with the White Riders to hunt down the heretic and hang him from his eyes.

Charles utters a small prayer, glad to see the High Pontiff offering peace unto the heathens of the land.

Charles would quietly note to himself that it was the Caliph who held an eight year old girl hostage.
