  2. Updated the lore. Seed leader's titles changed from "Warchiefs" to "Keepers". Warchiefs as detailed in Watylls original war of the tyrants are now canonically recognized as titles given to a seed's most capable warrior during times of conflict. Conflict itself was very rare, which is why when it did happen it was more memorable and such fights stand the time of history. By in large, the Era of the Seeds are a peaceful time period. Petty squabbles did occur between Seeds on occasion but they rarely ended in large amounts of bloodshed, as the elves understood the sanctity of life.
  3. doublepost because grr forums From what I remember, Respiren was not the first Druid, but the first to lead the Druids. I remember as a little plant that Respiren showed me a book about something akin to Druid Wars. I also agree with Lulu here. I would also like to input that, to me when I first started on this server in Aegis, as a Wood Elf, that I always envisioned them as Druids without the title. Lovers of peace and trees, they respected nature. The idea of warring Wood Elves doesnt necessarily appeal to me, but that's just a personal opinion. As an old Wood Elf, I understand how it could possibly feel to not have an "origin story", but I always thought of that to be a good thing and not bad. Wood Elves are generally the more sane compared to the High Elves and Dark Elves, able to sort of be the middle ground for both type of cultures, but the more peaceful out of the two. That's the way I always thought of it. I don't see how we could not just say how the idea of how all Wood Elves thought of nature as the most important thing and lived together peacefully under a Princedom and not something akin to Orcs fighting each other in tribes or Dwarves and their warring clans. Why everyone wants to have a military and bloody origin story is kind of bland and boring at this point, which is kind of ironic with what I am trying to say here, since I am saying that the Wood Elves SHOULD just be a simple peaceful gathering of their race and not one founded in bloodshed. I mean really, you can see how in the past the Wood Elves have always been peaceful, since Native and all. This kind of breaks lore of how things were, since I think it was also mentioned that Malin was the more peaceful out of the brothers when gathering his brethren. I respect your opinion but I believe you may be misinformed. You may be an old wood elf RPer but you haven't been around in our playerbase for at least a year. Right now you have no stake in the wood elves whereas me and the others who wrote this post do, and have poured hours into it. It really just comes to the fact that we know what we need, and the people who've never RP'ed a wood elf won't. I'm not trying to personally attack you, just trying to get my standpoint down clearly. This lore takes place long before Native, and ends with the founding of Laurelin, Malinor being the 'great uniter' of the race. Skirmishes and wars were a relatively small part of their lifestyle that occured once in awhile. I had this talk with a friend a few weeks ago actually, and she pointed out that the war aspect of that piece of lore may be overemphasized. It should be clarified however that the Era of the Seeds was, by in large, peaceful. I actually browsed the druid library website before writing this and I found two conflicting, and very vague stories about the origin of druidism. It's wholly possible there were druids of other races at the time of the Era of the Seeds, but the ones the wood elves of this time sought out for guidance were all wood elven.
  4. This lore pertains to a period of ancient history before the beginning of when we started RPing in Aegis. Therefore it literally only exists to add flavour to people who wish to bring culture to their wood elf RP. Wood elves who choose to ignore this lore will not be obligated to change a single thing about their character's backstory. Also, I'm not stifling or choking anything. This piece of lore can be expanded and built on. The possibilities are endless and if you have any ideas I'd be glad to hear them. Nowhere did I say 'all other ideas pertaining to wood elf history is now null and void'. I just wrote something where before there was nothing. I don't plan to stifle or shut down anyone's wood elf lore (not that anyone other than me has been writing any for the past year) and infact, the era of the seeds is, like you said, a simple concept over a huge time period and a thousand different creative things could be incorporated into it by whoever wants to, and I'd be glad to help them if they wish.
  5. Essentially, I would like This Following Piece of Lore to be adapted into the canonical history of the elves. If you didn't read the whole thing, I'll sum it up for you. From the time of Malin's disappearance and when the mali'ker and mali'aheral split off the main body of elves, to the founding of Laurelin in Aegis, the mali'ame lived in many tribal bands called 'Seeds' which roamed about the forests of ancient Malinor. These seeds RARELY skirmished with one another and were very un-united, conflicts, when they happened, were rarely bloodyThese seeds worshipped the Aspects as their chief dieties, and revered Malin- seeing themselves as the last true followers of his teachingsThe ones who held the most influence over the ancient Wood elf seeds were druids, purely wood elven at the time. Wood elves were capable of great feats of tree farming, growing groves called "ame'llie" where they harvested specially grown trees with special properties (much like one would selectively breed corn, or bananas over thousands of years to make them edible, wood elves would do the same with trees to make their bark/wood softer or harder and etc)The Era of the Seeds would have been LARGELY PEACEFUL. I put emphasis on Watylls writing, which was during an era of great turbulance, but most of this millenia long era was peaceful, with very little fighting. Please do not refuse to confirm or deny this as canon. I implore the LT to sit down with me and help me implement this into server lore. I have poured many hours into making the wood elves interesting and distinct, culturally, and it means a lot to me. I would appreciate the time, recognition and trust to be let in on at least some that hidden elf lore and have a hand in shaping the playerbase I've worked so hard in building. We're the only major race that lacks a solid "origin story". In fact, we know little to nothing about actual ancient wood elf history, since the lore team keeps it largely secret from us. This is a big deal. It may seem trivial to you, but when a playerbase puts a lot of effort into the history/culture and origins of a place and gets told none of it is canon, it can be seriously demoralizing and can anger them. Look at what happened when Oren was told Aeldin wasn't real, and to RP it as simply a made up story IC. It ruins the point, it takes the fun out of it. Think what a big and important role other race's origin stories and ancient history play into their cultures and day-to-day RP. The Kha and Metzli's creation of them is absolutely integral to their RP. The high elves, with their golden pools which also form a super important part of what gives them personality and differentiates them. The Dwarves, who historically have Khorvad's empire and a ton of rich ancient history lore to base their RP off of. While I don't know how much of ancient orc history is known, they have so much lore behind them in Shamanism (an exclusive racial magic, mostly) and so many spirits and such which gives orc culture builders like ilikefooddude a huge pool of knowledge to enrich his playerbase with, something wood elves simply don't have right now. Knowing your race's ancient origins and history can help immeasurably in enrichening even the most mundane of RP. Now, I know that even if it what we poured our efforts into isn't canon, we could RP the history we've spent so much time fleshing out as "IC belief" (which sucks. see: aeldin), however- it generally means more when we know something actually happened canonically, that we didnt just OOCly invent a bunch of stories so we could have a clumsily thrown together culture, but instead contributed to actually writing a part of server lore, something we can work off of to make our daily RP all the more meaningful. Please don't just instantly shut me down and dismiss this. This means a lot to me and a lot of other wood elf RPers that we be given the means to flesh out our culture more.
  6. Stationary NPCs could be a staple for "go out and find ________" quests and events. Events and stories can build around a certain character even if it can't physically move around. I have no opinion on this particular piece of lore. Just putting that out there.

  9. The name is penned out on most if not all posters and a message is sent to the man with details. (( Whenever you get on, I'll message you. )) Artimec blinked as a letter returned to him, he hastily wrote up a reply. "I was jesting. I meant you should keep her forever. Trust me when I say that whoever you sell that blue-hair to will have serious buyers remorse. She's a headache, that one. Don't sell shoddy products!"
  10. Artimec squinted at the bad drawing, before realization dawned on his face. "...Is that Treemma?" He made a quick penned response and sent it flying back after giving his owl instructions via communion. "I'll pay you 500 minas to keep her forever."
  11. You call this inferior? http://welfmessiah.corgiorgy.com/
  12. That's what myself and many others have been suggested, but the dark arts users are insistant on making it required to get a Cleric's services to make any dent in a Wraith.
  13. I'll be honest, with respect Leo, but this basically plays out as "Everyone has a right to win against dark arts all the time." I mean, since when was RP a constant competition where every situation has to be fair? Why is winning so important? I mean, I think people might enjoy spooks more if they actually tried to. I enjoy attacks when I RP fear and play along. I don't care if I win or lose. I mean, I undergame very very hard for the simple fact that people are so uber focused on winning that I'd rather lose consistently nearly every time for the sake of having fun. That's not what I said at all. What I said is that nothing should be impossible to kill, on principle, but holy users should obviously have a far greater chance at killing a wraith than a random knight with gold, who obviously, while still having a fighting chance would be far less likely to. "I want fights to have a point, therefore I want a common weapon to have at least the possibility of killing a spook." I'm sorry you think that way, but it isn't true. Its about people not wanting something already more powerful than them to become downright impossible to kill without holy intervention. And even if it is true, then it should be looked at by the wraiths themselfs, why are we an unattractive group to RP with?
  14. Everyone should have a chance to kill a wraith, no matter how slim. Obviously a well trained paladin's chances and a random soldier with a gold sword's chances are going to be vastly different. But everyone should have a fighting chance. Frankly, you'll always be ganked by large amounts of people, and those overwhelming numbers will be the reason you lose. Not whatever you choose to make yourself weak/immune to. Make gold less effective on wraiths, but don't make it useless. That should give you the inherent advantage you want so badly against us non-special, non-snowflake puny mortals. No group should only be exclusively killable by certain factions and their enchantments.
  15. Thank you! Summarized very nicely my entire argument
  16. Clerics/Paladins and Fi' magic users aren't nearly as common as you make them out to be and I'm not eager to see wraiths have a guaranteed victory every time we can't muster one online. Maybe if you're being constantly attacked by mobs with gold weapons, then its the fact that you're massively outnumbered leading to your death, not the gold. A single guy with gold could be easily taken down by a wraith. At the end of the day, this is a game, and no one wants to face something that they can't beat. I see you used the terms "redundant and one sided", well accepting this lore would simply switch the scales in your favour, not balance it out. I'm not eager to have spectral demi-gods waft into town and have me and my 7-8 guards be able to do ****-all (after vigourously scouring the skypelands for paladins who can potentially log on, of course). Have them W/E some trees after killing us and waltzing off. At the end of the day, I see a lore post written up to give the writer's personal group a bigger advantage to their already very powerful RP faction.
