  1. Vagud smiles faintly at the news. "Hozh joyz. Mi hev vuhl feyv en Vuhrgo tu leed uz truh diz tuv tik." He then gets back to tending to his farm as if nothing of interest had happened.
  2. Good luck man. I know it can be rough starting out. If you need a hand getting your foot in the door or anything, PM me. I can try and help you out in whatever way I can, whether it be getting situated into a community, finding a way to make money, or just trying to figure out how to do something.
  3. +1. There's so much salt on the server. I'm not gonna be an angel and say I haven't caused my fair share of that, or just said plain nasty things about people just because there's a circle jerk around them. For all those times, I really do feel sorry about them. I think, really, it comes down to a few things. 1. People realized that the people who take advantage of stuff that happens OOC as well as IC, and people that adopt a Machiavellian mindset for how they interact with people, can get a lot further in the game than if they are nice or try to keep everything IC, no Skype, no OOC dealings, all that jazz. 2. A few very common psychological traits. First, boiling down groups that you don't know a whole lot about or don't care about into one homogeneous clump where they are the same, especially negative traits or things that make it easier to negatively stereotype these groups. Second, and this ties in very closely to the previous points, dehumanizing the enemy. When you adopt the realpolitik point of view, or even just get caught up in the thrill and fun of burning a bunch of twiggies at a pyre, you can forget that the people playing those characters aren't the people you need to hurt in the game, or just simply not really care about what you say or do because they're the enemy, nothing more. This is a pretty rare occurrence I'd say, or at least I haven't encountered it much. But then we have some of the more common versions of these sorts of things. 3. Blurring the line between IC and OOC. I'm guilty of it, and I know a lot of others are. Sometimes you apply the above, that they're inhuman, they're the enemy, onto the person playing or just the player base as a whole, and use your IC grudges or something that happens in the game and take that onto the forums, where you continue it into discussions where it's OOC. But I think this is one of the most dangerous traps in not just Lord of the Craft, but most roleplay games. There are very real issues with the communities on the server, and you have every right to try and talk about that in a peaceful, civilized manner, but doing something as simple as taking showboating from a victory and really just rubbing salt in the wound, or getting salty on the forums and whining about why you lost and how they are all mongoloids or something to that effect. Sportsmanship is very important in any sort of even slightly competitive sport, and I think that that's something this server sorely lacks, and something I certainly want to improve on as well.
  4. Good fight, guys. Well earned victory on your part!

  5. I've got to be honest, I think the increased cost will need to be adjusted. We see Oren, which already has eleven tiles. Cruz has almost 80,000 minas, and he could definitely make the extra 30,000 easy. When we look at taxes, the money that the nobility definitely holds, and whatever other means they would have for getting money, they would be able to very easily blob, moreso than they already are. I don't want to discredit Cruz or anyone else in Oren's hard work to get the nation to where it is today, but when you get the vast majority of the population of the server, meaning you get more money, more resources, and more people who would be willing to fight for you, it's not like it's a particularly hard task to pool together 230,000 minas for two tiles, which will bring a new wave of opportunistic players due to the potential to get their own barony, and the cycle continues. I'd say change it so that either the price increases, there is a cap to how much territory you can hold (I'm not sure how I feel about this option honestly, but I'm putting it in anyways), or you add in some new mechanic to limit snowballing or just make massive expansion more of a double edged sword.
  6. We were making a joke. If any of us really did it, yeah, that would be messed up, but most of us don't actually go out of our way to do this sort of stuff. I'm sorry if my joke in particular came off as me being serious, that wasn't my intention.
  7. Absolutely nobody of importance. I doubt you ever knew in the first place.
  8. Hey that's what I said! I'm so glad my totally serious attempt at encouraging the defamation of the absolutely abhorrent Leowarrior got published for the whole world to see. I just wish you would have given me credit, or maybe even shared a screenshot of my post that you would clearly have, as you must be part of the Orc chat if you saw it, right?
  9. I agree. I wish I could have been there. At least I was able to participate in the raid earlier, though. Well played by both sides.
  10. "Diz kahvey ez hozh. Agh nud juzd bikoz duh uwnur bod griin frum mi." Vagud says as he passes through Chambery with his brothers, making sure him and the other Uruks leave the cafΓ© alone out of respect for the owner.
  11. Vagud let's out a small sigh and shakes his head in disapproval at the letter. "Wai duh zkah wud lat pud 'zervun uv Orguhn' en latz tiydul. Hez hi furguhden duh lazd azhty yeeurz un duh last uzg, wen hi butreyd duh Urukz, flat'd evryazh, nud juzd Urukz, agh thru duh zpirud uzg owd uv balenz?"

  14. I think there does need to be some level of technological progress, so I appreciate this. But it would be so difficult to do correctly. If people are willing to come up with lore to make a balanced type of gun that is also unique to LotC, I'd be all for it. We have black powder, we have metallurgy and steel. But it would need to be monitored extremely closely. Ideally, we would get a setup where each weapon type has a place that makes it valuable, but not moreso than the others. And along with this, we would ideally have completely RP warclaims in order to represent something like this. But that's not a feasible goal for the server, so implementing guns would be extremely difficult. So I say at the very least try to figure out a way to make this work so it's unique and not lore breaking, capable of being implemented mechanically so we don't end up getting another idea for a weapon that would not be able to be used in warclaims or any non-RP fight, and so it's not completely overpowering like we are all fearing it will be. Maybe make it something akin to a shotgun, where the main draw is its harmful, yet not particularly lethal like an arrow or crossbow would be, and it can cover a wider area than the other ranged weaponry and most other weaponry we currently have access to, which is very much focused on a single person at a time.
  15. Vagud stops short when he hears the news, seemingly not understanding what had just been declared. After a few seconds, he bursts out into a fit of laughter that echoes throughout the city and disturbs birds nesting in the now empty jungle, sans the opportunistic poachers who have decided to make their old city home. After several minutes have gone by, and his cheeks are stained with laughter-induced tears, he finally speaks. "Greyd. Nao wi du nub ivun niid tu gu fuhr tu ged zakruvyzez. Wi kuhn juzd led dem kuhm tu uz."
  16. Throughout Axios, a tiny poster has been hung up. The parchment used is extremely rough, looking almost more like cloth than paper, and on it is, in barely legible handwriting, it says: Selling Sugur Kan How much I hav: A lot (64+ stacks) Pryce: 10 minaz a ztak. 18. https://gyazo.com/60e5d87aa7f85d2982e7d17232fa1bac I would be fine with most of these things, however there are a few suggestions I'd like to make. First, don't just let nation or settlement owners start cart or sea routes. Let players make them. Players who are either wealthy or trying to get wealthy should have the option to make their own sea or cart routes. Second, give those that run them a choice on how much to charge. This would make the idea of starting up your own cart routes a great way to get rich and it create a very dynamic landscape where the routes are opened up over time rather than them all appearing at once. And due to the absolutely absurd time it takes to get from point A to point B in Axios, it would be a great way to give players a new source of revenue. I can think of several people, off the top of my head, who would absolutely love the idea of becoming the LotC equivalent of railroad tycoons.
  19. That is something that could probably be fixed though, albeit with a good amount of effort on the LT's part. The LT could edit some of the pages so that these weaknesses or information important for beating them so that they are still in there in descriptions or tiny details, but not apparent. They're hidden in the text in such a way that it will encourage thoroughly reading the lore instead of just skimming for weaknesses, and would reward people who are fairly good at analyzing text. Or, as an alternative solution, try and remove blatant descriptions of things whose weaknesses wouldn't be either common knowledge, common sense, or already demonstrated in lore. But put these important details in the game, at the great libraries. That would give people who aren't alchemists or mages a good reason to visit those libraries while also removing a good part of the potential for power gaming.
  20. Awesome work so far Tsuyose. Hopefully this will work out as well as we all want it to. I'm guessing lore approval will be really slow for the next few weeks while you get all this sorted out?
  21. What I'd like to see added to the LT is some protocol so that players can see hidden lore. I can understand having hidden lore, but I think that there should be a. a list of this lore that is readily available so people know it's there and b. a form people can fill out or some standardized method to request access to this lore, because right now there isn't a way to easily see what lore there is that's unavailable to the public. I think that something like this would be a good compromise, since it would be easier than trying to wait for a LT member to come online and ask if you can access the secret lore that might exist and then most likely being shot down while also increasing transparency by saying what lore there is so people can know what to request, while also maintaining the secrecy of what's contained in the lore so everyone doesn't instantly become an expert on aenguls.
  22. You snort it. I'll edit it so it's a bit more clear on that.
  23. Arrisk General use: Narcotic Description: An arrisk is a conifer shrub that grows in groups along mountain ridges, in areas where not many varieties of foliage are capable of growing, or mountain meadows. It typically grows to be around 16 inches (.4 meters) in diameter and 18 inches (.45 meters) high. In the summer, if it is in a fairly temperate area such as a meadow, the shrub can fruit, giving off fleshy red cones that can can be eaten like berries, however they do not taste particularly good. If they grow these 'fruits', some of the leaves will flatten out and look a little bit like scales on a fish, and oftentimes these leaves will form around the berry, making it look almost like a flower. Due to the windy atmosphere it finds itself in, arrisks grow roots that go deep into the ground and then grow tiny barbs so they have a firm grisp on the ground around them and will not risk being blown away in particularly harsh winds. Its roots, when ground up, create an extremely potent drug named Rusk. Rusk Dosages and Side Effects Preparing Rusk Author: 2samspan LM Approval Required: Yes I'm sorry about posting that as an individual topic. I felt that, since it was focused much more on the drug side of things rather than on the plant itself, it deserved it.
