Common Sense Wisdom derived from experience. That is what I, Rhys var Ruthern of Haense will bring to my Common Civic Party and my Empire. I know better than anyone that if Haense is to prosper, I must bring our entire Imperial domain prosperity. In my victory, I will fight to curb any potential excesses of imperial administration. I will seek the empowerment of crown vassals, so that the civilising laws of our great Empire might be enforced by local knightley and military orders who represent their people in a closer manner. In addition, I shall push to expand suffrage to all people, so that from Kadersi to Curon, all may elect who its is that represents them at the highest levels of government. In order for the citizenry to prosper, I shall sweep away overbearing taxations and tithes both from our loyal citizens, and our reverent nobility. It is mere common sense to vote for a candidate such as I, who will fight both to protect his own Kingdom and the Empire as a whole, and to bring both liberty. My opponent is an ignorant man who has all too often lowered himself to personal attacks and name calling to make his point. So that the playing field may be levelled, I shall return fire in turn. Ser Dominic as Maer of Haense has been an abject disappointment to his realm. Stagnant, static and with little to offer, he has enjoyed all the privileges and prestige of the position, but has taken up none of the required responsibilities. He only brings shame to be a Priorist in Haense. After Priorist terrorists attacked Brotherhood soldiers and the former Palatine of Haense, he has disgraced his people! This is the very same Party that dishonored Prince Robert, and I won’t stand ideal as Ser Dominic wishes to spit on Roberts legacy. The Priorist only wish to strip away the rights of the non renatian citizens, which will weaken Haense! This lethargic man is not the type of figure anyone would wish to govern them, I am sure. Moreover, he seems to think my age a weakness. He puts me across as a withered old fool, unable to think clearly. This could not be further from the truth. All my life I have sharpened my blade to defend my realm. Now, I am in the process of sharpening my mind ever further. For over sixty years I have lived, gaining vast amounts of knowledge and experience which I now seek to use to better my people. What has young Dominic lived through? He is barely escaped from his mother’s womb, essentially still a pup who belittles his elders in compensation for his own inadequacies. Now, noble ladies and gentlemen of our great Empire. We don’t need a young rash hot headed man like Ser Dominic in Parliament, while I hold nothing but respect for my future grandson-in-law he isn’t what Haense needs. What does Ser Dominic know of trade? I hope to push to make a free trade between vassal and foreign powers to strengthen our economy. What does Ser Dominic know of the integration of minorities into the Empire? I wish to pass legislation to promote rights and suffrage of all people to contribute and assimilate them into the Empire. All aspects, the young man - has yet to learn and experience. What Haense needs now is known, well respected, calm, and collected men in Parliament. I ask my opponent how he hopes to banish the current tension in court between the CCP and Priorist factions? I wish to work alongside the Priorist leaders that we may create a better Empire for the both of us. I’m no fool, we will likely have our disagreements, however, I am willing to put aside my political beliefs. In hopes to structure a compromise when it is necessary for the Empire. ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CANDIDACY 14th of Owyn’s Light, 1688 [!] Rhys var Ruthern stands and addresses a crowd gathered in the red square “People of Markev, for nearly half a century I’ve served this Kingdom. I was there when the first stones for this city were laid, and I stand here now wishing to continue my service to the citizens of this great city! During my tenure of over twenty years as Marshal of Haense, I reformed the military following the breakup of the Royal Army and established the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. Under me we drove the Red Vaeyl back to Last Hope, and now we have them under siege hiding behind their walls. I trained a generation of soldiers you now see defending our Kingdom. Now my time as Marshal has ended, and I wish to serve Haense not on the field of battle but in the parliament and protect the interests of its people. Prince Robert’s resignation as party leader has left big shoes to fill, and I believe I’m the most qualified to take on the role. Therefore, I have accepted the nomination of the Common Civic Party and am honored to announce my candidacy to represent the Markev District in the Imperial Parliament. I humbly ask for your votes in entrusting me to continue the good work we have accomplished together in the last five decades. We need a candidate who has experience dealing with the politics in Carolustadt, and the Priorist Party. That is why I ask you to vote for me this coming election! ”

It is with great pride and sorrow I announce my end as Lord Marshal of Haense, I hereby resign the position of Lord Marshal to my successor Henrik Kovachev. I hope my fellow brothers will treat him with the same respect and dignity as they did me. For nearly fifty years of service to our nation and countless battles fought to protect it, I resign with a pleasing anticipation of Henrik ability to lead the Brotherhood of saint Karl through future conflict. Not one part of my body doesn’t bear wounds from those long years of service. Its been an honor serving alongside my fellow brethren, and I will continue to serve until my dying day and aid Marshal Henrik in adjusting to his new position, but I will not longer be your Marshal.
