Four years ago our local World Team Admin approached me one on one in a TeamSpeak 3 Client Server when I was seventeen years old and a young impressionable nation lead. He came in, speaking in a low rasped voice asking me for twenty dollars to "pay for his phone bill" because he had an important call about a job interview and his phone service was going to be shut off. Now, I, being naïve and underaged player gave into this because I had sympathy for him because he was bullied for being a Paladin and cried one time in TeamSpeak about it in the Westerlands. So, I ended up paying him twenty dollars that I earned after wage-slaving at a grocery store, hours I will never get back. Now, during this time my nation was blossoming, but it wasn't until I started asking about that twenty dollars because I wanted to buy a new Nintendo DS game. I figured, if he got the interview, he'd an have an income to pay me back. How wrong was I. During the months that followed, the Westerlands became the target of a conspiracy, spearheaded none other than by Heero. Four months after I gave him the twenty dollars, the Westerlands fell. Coincidence??? Now, I was generous and waited (and I mean waited) for the day that he might give me my twenty dollars back. Now being a of age player and having a proper income of my own, I understand the value of twenty dollars better than I did when I was manipulated by Heero. Now, the rabbit hole gets even deeper. Years after the fact, and Heero has become a red tag of Lord of the Craft... What did he really do with my twenty dollars? Evidence has come to light that within those four years, he embezzled the money one dollar at a time and gave Tythus twenty dollars in total to become admin. its not the noobs im talking about mr. whitewalker a lot of human / oren oldguard have been around the server for years. KP has been a polarizing figure for years. many of these same human veterans i previously mentioned have been in and out of leadership for years. i do not blame the poor noob who joins and has zero idea who this guy is other than "oh he's the emperor". the people who should be taking a large part of the blame are the very same who have allowed him to have characters in lines of succession, it's the players who have known what a freak he was since kaphro that have allowed him to exist in any capacity within humanities upper echelons. this guy has been allowed to stay around and hoodwink newer generations for years. i remember hearing about happyshackles weird behavior as far back as the fringe, and i have made a mission out of avoiding interaction with him since. but time and time again, this dude was given a platform to act on, and that platform doesn't come about by chance. ask yourself this, can any noob just become emperor by chance? no. because the line of succession is carefully maintained on an OOC level. so why, oh why, is everyone not taking a moment to look at the people who ALLOW players like KP to even have a smidge of influence other than being laughed at and kicked out for being a weirdo? everyone can badger staff and admin and throw @ScreamingDingodown a well because of treshure's vlog. but it's honestly startling as someone whose known about KPs behavior to see ZERO conversation about why veterans of the server and the community he was in take an ounce of the blame or responsibility for giving that dude the microphone whatsoever. staff is an easy scapegoat for this. staff is ALWAYS an easy scapegoat. but really? just them?

look man, I get it: player bases don’t get to decide who gets power but badgering admins and staff exclusively is not it everyone KNEW KP was weird, it was synonymous. But you have the same people who were likely rping with him a week prior joining the NPC horde badgering Joel and admins and staff. You literally can choose to A: RP somewhere else or B: blacklist him. RP Leadership should be blamed because this isn’t the first time KP was in a position of power, I’m pretty sure he’s been heavily involved in nobility for years, and the church, and military. yes, staff can ban him, but players have continuously LET him stick around when they could’ve said “we don’t want you in our community, sorry.” but they didn’t it’s only when a few threads and a blog is posted that it’s HEINOUS he wasn’t banned

community (especially humans) could’ve very easily just blackballed KP and kept him out, but they didn’t and those same players are screaming at Joel / red tags that they didn’t do anything well neither did they :/

why did players in Oren continue to rp with KP and give him a platform for years ?

large map antags are a huge commitment and rarely do they turn out good without proper thought. having a single foe can be interesting if given the time to develop and naturally occur-... but just introducing a single antag won't fix almaris at all. jentos is very right in the sense that our OOC biases will leak into RP all the time. i guarantee you some people would call events i've done absolute trash because of the nonsensical nature of some of them. everybody has their preferences. since my return to the server ive made an effort to rp with many different types of groups, and i've traveled the map to all sorts of cities and different players and had a blast. in 2017 i would hardly leave the borders of oren. almaris suffers from dollhouse syndrome. everything is very static, things only change when they're being evicted or moved. players can hardly creep into other circles or influence anything outside of whatever region they're added to, and even then, it's very slim if they could do that! this weird DMV era limits creativity, thought, and most of all, CHIM, is horrendous. LoTC feels more like VR Chat or Forum RP than ever before! sadly, everyone expects the problems of lotc to always be top down, that staff will make changes and it will shower down and fix the state of the server. granted, yes, policy changes are needed. but overall, i think the culture of the server is very rigid, and sometimes unwelcoming. hardly is anything done in good-faith.
