  1. Karina Reyne knew what the war meant, and ever year, she begged for peace from everyone. When the armies of Haense came to their doorstep, and she saw a body be offered to her, it was expected. She wondered what her father would do. She let the priest take the body and burn it. Returned were ashes. "What are ashes to my brother?"
  2. Father Temesch hugged his son as he entered the seven skies. "Took you long enough, pukio..." He said to him. "Now, I was meaning to ask you about my monocle-- I cannot really see up here-- What? You gave my monocle away? There was a long sigh, but ultimately it ended with an embrace.
  3. Father Temesch smiled down from the heavens to his son. What a based and redpilled son of his.
  4. Éowyn Nullivari-Ibarellan was never fond of the cold, let alone beasts of the cold. The news of penguins was something they neither enjoyed, nor found fond of. However, the idea of using them in beast battles did seem... enjoyable.
  5. But as he stood watching Carthage burn, Scipio Aemilianus reflected on the fate of this once great power. Overcome with emotion, he cried. His friend and mentor, Polybius, approached and asked why Aemilianus was crying. What better outcome can any man hope for?

Aemilianus replied, "A glorious moment, Polybius; but I have a dread foreboding that some day the same doom will be pronounced on my own country."

According to Roman tradition, Aemilianus then quoted a line from Homer: “A day will come when sacred Troy shall perish, And Priam and his people shall be slain.”

Aemilianus knew that no power endures indefinitely, that all empires must fall, and that there is nothing mortals can do about it.

And the vultures flew overhead, searching for the dying upon which they could feast. For the scavengers prey upon the sickly, and the wise seek those already dead. What better claim than a giant, who grew far too tall? When he was wounded and could not stand, what really killed him was the fall.

  6. Saskia would not this affront to their honor be made and requested a trial by combat against this enemy. In a follow up press conference from this night's debacle, they publically stated, "The lamprey pie was, in fact, not good. It was terrible! The worse! Some say his wife wishes for his death so they can finally eat fast food like the Grub Bucket!"
  7. Saskia van Aert, at a press conference, remarked that Agent [REDACTED] did not intend to burn the whole entire the Cathedral. It was a freak accident. The fire going up in flames was not intended to happen when several molotov-cocktails were thrown. "We report no deaths, but we wish there were some. I mean--" several Church officials scream, asking for comments as they were told that there will be no questions today.

  11. “Dangerous names,” Thom muttered. His eyes seemed to drill at them even more intently than before. “Nearly as dangerous as that other, one way and another. All dead, now, except for Logain. Some long dead. Raolin Darksbane nearly two thousand years. But dangerous just the same. Best you don’t say them aloud even when you’re alone. Most people wouldn’t recognize a one of them, but if the wrong person overhears. . . .”

"But who were they?" Rand said.

“Men,” Thom murmured. “Men who shook the pillars of heaven and rocked the world on its foundations.” He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. Forget about them. They are dust now.

  13. Saskia van Aert, while under the influence of multiple bottles of wine, reassured her cousin many, many times she would read his work and correct any mistakes. "You know you are my favorite author, cousin!" She never ended up reading it.
  14. “What do you fear, lady?" Aragorn asked.

"A cage," Éowyn said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire.”

  15. Kato Eren checked his clock, which he had set for the time of the treaty, had not gone off. He stared upward to the darkness of the sky as the clock read midnight. He did eventually get a hold of a copy from the treaty from his grandfather (after being beaten for being late). He told his grandfather, "This is a certified Lector moment."
  16. "Father Stainslaw... a true choice to succeed the Seat of the High Pontiff. A living saint is needed in these times." Staunchly said Priestess Milena Carrion-Tuvyic.
  17. In a cozy nook we've sown, From troubles, far we go, With friends and kin, our hearts mend, Our secret haven, a place to befriend.
  18. Saskia van Aert wrote a raging letter detesting the King of Hanseti-Ruska for multiple issues. It was a passionate affair, this letter, filled with every complaint she ever had with him, ending with the death of this poor Aaunite man. It was a true magnum opus, describing every fault they had. Alas, when the letter came to the court of Haense, the ink was muddled from rain and illegible.
  19. "Lectors." Promptly screamed out into the distance in the hidden city underneath the cherry blossoms. The Samurai Eren 'Aurumhandu' of Clan Kato emerged forth, knowing what he had to do.
  20. Saskia van Aert had met Tylos recently before and saw the true potential in the boy. A true righteous warrior in the upcoming ages. She offered a brief recommendation to support any venture in Veletz, or if he needed funding abroad, that too. She feared when the boy turned eighteen, that he would be on opposite sides of the battlefield from her. As a token of her respect, she sent a pocket watch, carved with the boy's name behind it. Perhaps he would remember it as a gift when he came stomping down at their gates.
  21. Saskia van Aert showed her cousin, the Captain-General, the letter. She made some frankly crazy remarks, potentially about the total immediate destruction of Veletz by a Hanseti-Ruskan army numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Also obsessing over the clock once more.
