  1. Concerning the halfling race in Dunshire Alright, so as many of you may be aware, the halfling playerbase in Dunshire has waned a bit ever since I went on hiatus after PKing Madeline Applefoot. Compared to the massive spike of activity and great roleplay we had back then, Dunshire has fallen quite a bit. However, we still have a lot of active and semi-active players in the Discord and village, and thus I believe we can easily bounce back from this state of relative inactivity. What I want from you all is feedback on how we can improve things in Dunshire and how we can keep the place more active and less prone to massive spikes and drops in activity as halflings join Dunshire and as important halflings go on hiatus. Here's my current plan: -Bring back the Dunshire Drinking Nights, or similar weekly events that are broadcasted to all on the forums. -Try to establish some more storylines in Dunshire (silly little villains, small adventures, etc. Like what me and @_SuitAndTie_ plan to be doing) -Wait for the halflings currently on break/busy with work(I know there's at least a few) to come back, thus making the activity situation in Dunshire much better. -Keep on promoting good halfling morals in the current halflings, and remove any random locks that are in Dunshire (Which shouldn't exist in the first place outside of the Storage Burrow) -I've heard many Elder halflings suggest that we require residents to do fun little tasks in order to gain and retain control over a burrow, perhaps we could implement something like that -Maybe hold a festival or two, with lots of booze and food of course. I am open to any other ideas, and while I'm no longer an Elder in Dunshire and thus don't really have a say in how it's run anymore, I feel like the community trusts me enough where they'd generally go along with anything I plan to do, or any suggestions that other members of the halfling community may have. See you all in Dunshire!
  2. Bom Tombadil Physical Description: He is too tall for a halfling, yet to small for a man, and thick and sturdy are his hands. His coat is blue, his boots are yellow, his hat is brown with a big bright feather. He wears a belt buckle of golden brass, and has a beard long and thick as grass. Mannerisms: He hunches over with a cane like he is old, yet talks fast and proud like he is young. He often breaks out into a sing-song sort of speach in the middle of a conversation, which others find quite annoying and childish, and he is rarely on time for anything at all, always preferring to be at least a few hours late. He has few acquaintances, and even fewer friends, and it is rare to see him emerge from his little hide-y hole in Old Dunshire Forest. He keeps to himself most of the time, reading any books he can get his hands on, and spends most of his time outside his home watering and caring for local plants and fungi. Other than that, there is little of interest about this character. Equipment: Bom Tombadil rarely carries anything threatening. The only weapons he ever carries are basic gardening tools that he uses to defend himself if threatened. As for other items, Bom usually has a few random oddities in his pockets, be it grass, hay, dandelions, the book he had been reading, and other random objects of Bom Tombadil's daily life or the Forest. Strenghts: Bom Tombadil is known to be somewhat wise. While he is no Wise-Old-Man-Sitting-On-Top-Of-Mountain-For-Adventurers-To-Contact-For-Help sort of person, locals have been known to seek him out for help on personal problems. Also, Bom Tombadil is at least somewhat bright, and appears to have had at least a little bit of education (which is odd, since it seems like he's lived in the woods all his life). Finally, Bom Tombadil has all the Dexterity that is expected of shorter folks like halflings. Weaknesses: Bom Tombadil is physically weak, weaker than most halflings even. It is said that he has lost wrestling matches against squirrels and rabbits. Also, Bom Tombadil lacks social connections. Only a few people know he exists, and he is intent to keep it that way. Due to this lack of social connections, it would be hard for Bom Tombadil to gain any sort of political influence. Finally, Bom Tombadil is rather pacifist. He doesn't believe in violence, and tries to run all the way to his home in Old Dunshire Forest whenever the slightest threat is sent at him. He only ever fights if cornered.

  4. Roleplaying burrow construction So, you’ve decided to build a halfling burrow, but you, unlike most other halflings, want to go the extra mile and prove that you’ve worked hard to make this burrow of yours. In this case, we’ll be making a burrow while emoting every step of its construction (And by we, I mean you). First thing first, you’ll need trees. Lot’s of trees, preferably. A tree like this one will do just fine, Let’s get chopping! Now that you’ve cut down the tree, you’ll need to size it properly by using a saw Attach the log to whatever animals, family members, or other sources of labor you may be using. In this case, we’re using pigs. Now you can haul these logs to wherever they will be stored. Now that you have the logs needed to make your burrow, start digging out the floor for your burrow, and don’t forget to pile the dirt you’re digging up close to the spot of your burrow. You’ll need that dirt later. Start dragging your logs into position so that they stand upright in the ground. Take some small log sections and create a ring around your burrow site with them, digging out dirt to make room for them wherever it’s needed. You now have the foundation for your burrow! But we still need to make walls and a roof! (And a floor, unless you like dirt floors for some reason) Take the dirt that you dug up earlier, and start burying your construction underneath it. You’ll probably need more dirt that what you just dug up to create your burrow. You’ve done it! You’ve made a burrow! And it only took you two months to make it! However, you probably want to furnish and decorate your burrow, unless you like sleeping on the cold hard floor.
  5. [!] A paper could be found nailed to most Noticeboards, including the Dunshire Noticeboard The Peace-Warriors of Dunshire! ~Dunshire, the home of the Peace-Warriors~ Since the War of Peace has been declared, I've noticed that we have no military to fight it! So, let us form a basic militia of peace that will keep all of Altas safe from harm! The Peace-Warrior's Pledge: "I pledge allegiance to the great people of Altas, who be so fair and varied in look and style. I pledge to protect all children, all men, all women, and others who are threatened by war, and I pledge to never become the threat of war that I have pledged to protect others against!" "I promise that I will never bear a lethal weapon against another while campaigning for Atlas-wide peace, and I promise that I will never harm others even with non-lethal weapons unless there is no other option." "And lastly, I pledge that I will always uphold the good morals of peace, prosperity, and comfort for all that I wish to bring to the rest of Atlas" The Tools of Peace: -Shovels, for they represent the humble peasant who is threatened by wars on Atlas. -Eggs and Snowballs, for they represent the projectiles of childish play instead of projectiles of war and destruction. -Cake, for it represents comfort and prosperity that does not come with war. -Pumpkins, for they grow plentiful and plump, and are not associated with war in any way. -The heart, for all good comes from it. ~An example of a Peace-Warrior, although most Peace-Warriors wouldn't use a shield, of course~ Our Mission: Unlike other groups who attack and destroy others, the Peace-Warriors will only bring goodness to the world, and thus all they do will be completely peaceful. We shall protest against war with our Tools of Peace in hand, and we shall bring about a better tomorrow! How do I join this benevolent group?: Please fill out the following format and send it to Dunshire for us wee folks to look over! 10. Just a place to start discussion about the (presumably) vast amount of halfling recipes. My favorite halfling recipe would probably be Applebrook Porter, the family drink of the Applebrook family. Made with lots of misc. ingredients and one extra secret ingredient that makes it the booze we all love to drink.

  12. ~Finn Gillfeck~ By Collin Sullivan (IGN: sullincollivan) Appearance Finn stands around 3’2” & weighs 86 pounds. His hair is dark brown and neatly combed to each side, exposing his large purple eyes and homely face from beneath his bangs. Finn doesn't care much for clothing although a hile fishing he wears high-water jeans, held up with suspenders, to accommodate to the aquatic nature of his profession. But, when he does not have the risk of getting soaked, he wears a light blue coat adorned with silver lining and cuffed black pants, exposing his massive hairy feet. Backstory Finn Gillfeck, born to Jess and Chett Gillfeck, was an adventurous lad from the start. Always wandering through the Sutican forest near his village. Most of his time there was spent fishing and building make-shift rods from fallen foliage, but the most important addition to his skill set was the ability to fend for himself. At the age of 26 he left his home and set out to make a life for himself. After weeks of traveling from settlement to settlement, and even sailing across a vast open ocean, Finn arrived in the mountain ranges of Urguan, better known as the land of the dwarves. He had been told many stories of the dwarves being mighty warriors, making him too cautious to enter their stone halls. He instead trekked deep into the snowy range in search of a collective he had heard of known as The Edict. Edict Oath Upon arrival Finn was near frozen, his tiny appendages turned purple. Sahar, the Hersir of The Edict, took him into their grand hall to warm up, before teaching him the ways of The Edict. She explained that the oath was a lifelong commitment and their main goal is to abolish slavery and racism of any form. This part struck a chord with Finn, for he had never had a worthy cause to fight for, giving him an overwhelming feeling of confidence and motivation. After completing the entrance ceremony, Finn was given a cozy room along with all the food he could fit in his miniscule halfling belly. Once he was well rested and rejuvenated he set out into the snowy cascading mountains again, only this time, it was to serve the Edict the only way he knew how, with his fishing rod. Veteran Fisherman After almost 25 years of practice, Finn can finally consider himself a veteran fisher at the young age of 30. He is very proud of this achievement and often implies his treasure hunting capabilities by giving out precious goods to close friends all of which he has reeled in from the ocean. The rest of the treasures Finn catches, he sells in his small bait & tackle shop along with any supplies his fellow fishermen could need.
  13. Berilac Overhill (All images besides the screenshot and drawing were found on Google Images) (Drawing by my friend Vezzin/Wyvernborne) Race: Halfling Appearance: His stature is 2 ft. 11”, and he has curly, dark brown hair. His most common attire is that of a red vest, and a white button down shirt. His right eye is green, his left eye is blue; he has no shoes, only feet that are large and hairy. Skills: He is a good pumpkin carver, fisher, and farmer. Berilac has taken interest in carving (Not just wood, pumpkins too.) due to Shreck'Lak giving him many wooden statues of... Shreck'Lak... Berilac looked at these as if they were nothing but firewood, however he was intrigued by their designs. As he started out carving, he failed miserably due to his sheer incompetence of the art. After days and days of practice, he has finally become a decent whittler/carver! You can also see him practicing ‘shogging’, which is a halfling game. It’s when halflings wear pumpkins on their heads and attempt to hit each other off of logs while staying on their own. Due to all of this practice, he has become rather good. (Above) A Shogging arena! Inventory: Berilac carries many things with him, most hidden within the depths of his satchel. One of them is an intricately carved pipe that he smokes regularly. This pipe is carved so it looks like a forearm, and the area where you put pipe-weed is carved to look like a hand. It is meant to look like a hand carrying weed. This pipe is a family heirloom, and is passed down from generation to generation. He also carries his shog and a pumpkin helmet, which makes him prepared for any shogging competition. He has many tools as well, such as hoes, shovels, and axes. Personality: A rather strange personality… Friendly and merry in general, and is always laughing and smiling. He enjoys the company of proper halflings, and some bigguns. If a biggun is nice to him, he will become friends with them; but if they aren’t nice, he will loathe him/her. If angered by bigguns he becomes mischievous, and attempts to vex them deeply. His personality is somewhat the same to Pippin from LOTR, and at times, he is very gullible. Accent: His accent is.... Thick... It sounds likes it is a mix between Irish and Scouser (Liverpool Folk). Occupation: Like most halflings, he is a farmer, but he enjoys much more than that! Berilac tends to pass time by fishing, bartering, and making products. Some goods include Pipeweed (The old Overhill recipe!), Pumpkin seeds, and carvings.

Not too long after leaving the dedicancy Andwise had mastered his craft of tinkering but also taken up a new skill of breeding. Then the halflings held an election between Andwise and Perdic to see who would be the next Elder. Andwise's cousin Bobo tried to rigg the election which was found out about and Bobo hung himself in the stables of Goodborough and Perdic was announced the Elder. Not too long after Perdic stepped down, leaving the halflings without a leaer. A while after he and his neighbors of Goodborough had a terrifying dream of skygods telling them they must leave their land and move to another place. The Jr. Deputy Andwise got a promotion to Deputy and the Elder Fumble Willowbottom promised to teach him to become an Elder. When the time came for the halflings to move Andwise was given the rank of Thane as Fumble and his family left for a family reunion. Andwise decided to go to the Grand King Skippy and ask for land. Skippy obliged and gave Andwise and his fellow halflings the Green Valley to build their new village. Artwork None at the moment

  18. Full name: His full name is Anson Dudley. Age: He is 19 years of age. Race: He is a Halfling. Personality: Anson dreams of one day gaining a true life for himself despite his impairments. Ever since he was a little boy his father told him of the Knights and their valour and courage, and ever since, Anson has dreamed of one day joining their ranks. He is, if nothing else, realistic however. Without his sight, Anson knows that his dream is just that, a dream. Despite this he holds onto a strong sense of justice, feeling that, even though he cannot become a knight in title he should strive to live up to their teachings. He is a weak man, and Anson realizes this himself. Despite all of his failings he has taken an oath to protect all within his sight, even if he has not the skills to do so. As his father before him, Anson is an honourable man and seeks only true justice in the world. For now he does not know how he will find his way having no way of seeing the path ahead of him, but the words of his father have taught him that, despite all odds, true courage comes when one faces the oncoming darkness and does not run from the troubles ahead. Appearance: Anson stands about average height for a Halfling, with a rather small build. Thin frame and bedraggled hair reflect his current impoverished lifestyle, and his clothes are old, torn and sometimes dirty. His hair is rather light like his father's before him, though he has his mother's complexion. His most striking feature though are his milky white eyes. Blinded since birth, Anson does not bother trying to meet people's eyes, but tilts his head in their direction so that he can better hear their words. His hands are soft, having never done a real hard days work given his condition, yet he has nimble fingers from practicing his instrument. History: Anson Dudley was born in a small village, near the city of Kingston to a father who was a blacksmith, and a mother who worked at the local inn. From birth, Anson was unable to see the world around him, and yet he never once felt as if he was missing anything for the love of his parents kept him strong. Though he could not experience it himself, his father told him of the city and described the city to his son when they went on their daily walks, after the work was done of course. Anson heard of the Knights, and many stories of their valour and courage sent him to sleep as he lay in bed with his mother and father. Anson's mother showed him how sounds could be used to learn the ways of the world. She taught him that music was how a blind man could paint a picture for the soul just as an artist painted upon a canvas. Yes, Anson was without his sight, but because he never had it to begin with he never felt as if it were a great loss. He could see the world through his other senses, and he could experience just as much as everyone else. Or so he thought. Anson's father passed away when the boy reached the age of 10, and his mother took him to Kingston in hopes that the boy could find a better future there. It was in Kingston that Anson learned that, without sight, life would never be the same for him as it was for those who could see the world around them. He could not read the books he was meant to learn, he could not experience and learn as other's around him could, and so despite his efforts he found that Academics were, and forever would be, out of his reach. Once more his mind turned toward the knights, and Anson felt a calling there and a desire to one day wear the armour and rank of their noble heritage. It could never be. Of course Anson knew, for if he could not learn or see, what chance have he to join the ranks of the most honourable warriors in all of Anthos? His blindness was a curse, and this Anson knew from the bottom of his heart. As he grew older he found that none would take him on as an apprentice. He could find no work, for all saw him simply as a blind and helpless boy. Never given the chance to be more, Anson simply learned to live life by his mother's side. Learning to let music heal his tattered soul. Yet even that could not last, for come the Winter, Anson's mother was stricken by a harmful cold and died soon after. It was devastating, a terrible blow to the boy and one that left him reeling and uncertain what it was he was to do. For once he was thankful for his blindness, for he did not have to see his mother suffer in her final days. Now alone in the world, Anson found himself thinking more and more of Kingston, his home, and of the knights that lived there. This place weren't meant for the Halfling. Anson was lonely. Kingston held nothing for him now, so he left, where he hoped that he could finally find his way in life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for reading.
