Come on, even the devs. want these damned things gone. They literally do nothing but hinder your character developement on the basis of how well you write applications. "PVP cesspool?" The same thing was shouted around with the removal of MAs (and as a player who has used magic for two years, and was tier four, thank you.)

There won't be an explosion of chaos, there will be no Armageddon. Keep calm and smooth out roleplay. Sorry there's no option on the poll for shenanigans.

EDIT I have no idea why people cant reply. GMz help pls.

I believe I fixed it, everyone should be able to reply now. If that's not what you meant to have happen, PM me.

Spend an hour to write an application to prove you're willing to provide roleplay for others. Removing them will make things mildly unruly.

Why do you need an application to do that? If you're a half decent RP'er you already provide RP for others by simply RPing WITH others.

Remove them because they're retarded.

"Oh I know, lets force !!!!!!players!!!! to write essays in order to roleplay a character. Genius!"

No idea who came up with the idea, but god knows what went through their minds when it was happening.

Honestly it is nothing near an essay. It is 2-3 paragraphs for the account VA and like a paragraph for the Character VA. Most essays I do are 5 paragraphs. It's not difficult.

The point is that players are punished and limited as a result of not completing an application form.

Well, for one, if MA's are not necessary, than VA's are most certainly not necessary. VA's should have been cut long before MA's.

Truthfully, VA's are a form of power-gaming. You are not able to advance your character without OOC approval. I think that role-playing in itself is to make an interesting conflict for two parties, so it should be a requirement to understand this in the initial application.

The initial application needs to be the basis for introduction and smooth transition into Lord of the Craft. It should be a pre-requisite to get along with other people to play on a multiplayer server.

This, if we're allowed to have magic gone from apps, why not VAs?

Sorry I was two paragraphs off. :( Any game where you have to write extensively to play properly is idiotic and should be killed with shotguns

PS: 5 paragraphs is a freaking short essay, what grades are you getting?

I honestly think the OLD MINOR evils should be removed.

Stealing

Cannibalism (unless the victim is alive)

However, here is what I think should happen.

Make Murder all really 1 VA. Most of its redundant. "Killing for pleasure" and "Murdering when Unprovoked" almost feel the same for me. There are RARE cases where its one or the other. Why not combine this evil.

Torture is its own thing, I agree on.

Arson, again by itself

Stealing of LARGE ITEMS, ANIMALS, and PRIZED ITEMS (nation prized i mean) such as Anvils, RELICs, and Horses should be its own VA. (stealing from an unlocked chest is more like kleptomania as long as they stay within the rules)

Psychopathy, again a big one

Lockpicking, is a meh for me.

Chaos, deception? again a meh.

Make it strict but ALLOW for easier rp.

I dont want to write a va just to go over, pick some carrots out of a chest cause I am a starving orphan. Pick pocketing is another. remove the old lesser evils and just keep the VA for the more serious evils. Arson, Murder, and being insane enough to kill.

Removing VAs will get rid of the mindset that being a villain is a 'higher-form of rp'--that by being a villain you provide a higher quality of roleplay over Lawful-Good characters. I honestly prefer the "I wanna be the hero!" archetype over the "You don't understand my deep emotional angst" that many villains adopt.

Besides getting rid of the taboo, many non-villainous characters write (improperly named) villain applications so that they're not tethered by the server's arbitrary ruleset for what your character can and can not do.

The removal of VAs may result in an initial increase of villains, but over time you will see that people get tired of banditry or constant asshattery. The taboo of villainous deeds is why so many strive to indulge in it--but they will quickly realize it's just as fun as 'good' rp.

VAs also discourage "letting-go" of your characters, as few people desire to write yet another application that may or may not be accepted depending on the mood of the person reviewing it.

On a personal level, I find "alignments" asinine ways of pigeon-holing characters into set ways of acting, villain applications only exacerbate this.
