Not sure how I feel about the removal of VA's. Personally, I think it's a rather bad idea, but you must have had some reason behind it. We'll see how this turns out.

Not sure removing Va's is a good move however there's certainly no harm in giving it a shot thou I do feel the server is becoming more and more like a towny light RP server.

Oh and whats with all the new mobs? Nothing in the announcement about them? Or did I miss it :P

If you are not sure about VA's and the increase in Villians suddenly rampant among the rest of us, take your chaotic/lawful good character and do what any good character would do in medieval times, form a lynch mob and take care of the villian  =)  There be hangings a plenty!

Finally, we are free.

We, can once more, role-play without restrictions.

Those who were involved in the approval of those changes have earned my respect, gentlemen.

lel aislin so mighty and powerful, he alone changed VA's. very good mindset. <3

On a more serious note, I am more pleased than ever about any change that has happened as of yet. Magic was good, VA's, I think, is where LotC truly starts to resurrect to it's former glory, and beyond. Way to go Administration!

  • A modification to a current rule: The 30 minute death timer functions different now during wars, battles and events. Instead of the timer starting as soon as you die, the timer now begins when the war, battle or event ends. If you are unsure if the occurrence has ended, play it safe and simply avoid the area for at least an hour. (The current 30 minute death rule will be modified but worded differently than presented in this thread. More information can be found here).

I foresee this causing issues.  As a new player the simplicity of "don't return for 30 minutes" helped me know exactly what was and wasn't breaking the rules.  It was easier to know how to follow it and when others were not.  Judging from the massive amount of (excuse my bluntness) "rage disguised as objective conversation" on team-speak that starts with IC mechanics (pvp) and then sometimes turns into OOC mechanics (getting "X" banned), when it comes to battle/skirmish/fighting in general from both sides a clear-cut rule that is not up to debate is necessary.  Subjective definitions of what constitutes a battle/skirmish/etc. and / or team leaders making mistakes with regards to when a battle/skirmish/etc. ends and begins will no doubt cause the moderators of this server extra work and the players unnecessary grief and/or frustration.

From what I could see, TS basically starts out as:

Player 1 : "X is doing Y, it's against the rules"

Player 2: "We've been breaking the rules too, this is fun, they haven't reported us, don't report them."

Player 1: "Yeah ok."

Several hours later (now people are getting more angry).

(Side 1) Player 3: "I'm filing a ban report on Player Z."

(Side 1) Player 4: "Yeah their are breaking rule #123."

(Side 2) Player 5: "Hey they filed a ban report on me for rule#123."

(Side 2) Player 6: "Well they broke rule #321, so I'll file a ban report for that."

Suddenly, what was accepted as fun rule breaking becomes personal, and both sides take OOC pot shots at each other.  I listened to both sides during pretty much the entire day of battle (one side while I was waiting for my 30 minutes to an hour to end - I had IRL stuff to do, the side I was on while I was actually fighting to keep it fair).

I know, we shouldn't break the rules no matter what, and I have done my best to do that as I understand them (because I am new and there are a lot of rules), but honestly I had quite a bit of fun today regardless of what others did or did not choose to do with regards to the rules.

Deep down, I somehow hope that there is a way to both enjoy pvp and not get so upset over it.  I mean seriously, 1) it's a game and 2) there is no perm death.  What is everyone getting so mad about?  I've played perm death type rp games for most of my life and the thrill of not losing everything when you die offered by this server amazes me.

The server loses out when we ban people who could be taught to follow the rules and rp.

As a side note, I was disappointed to discover when I joined team-speak that it was not just informal IC, it kind of takes away from the immersion, but I doubt anyone agrees with that.  I'm not saying we should "act" on TS, just that maybe we should act more like our character would (everyone isn't in charge).

I like to think of myself as mainly a roleplay type player, but quite honestly to quote someone else whose post I read and can't remember their name (sorry), "Sometimes you want to rp, sometimes you want to pvp, and sometimes you just want to dig/build/play minecraft."  And let's be honest, if you want to pvp, trench warfare is pretty darn awesome!  :)

My two pennies.
