Goodbye LOTC

-

Hey guys, I would like to share my story with y'all.

My name is Brad Patin, and I was born in the Katy-Texas-Area. LOTC changed my life, for the better. You see, before I got to college, my house didn't have WiFi. I lived on a wheat field near a small town. It was a miracle we got power. All I had was a fishing pole and a rake. For fun I'd race the chickens with my dad, or enter the rodeo and ride sheep. It was utterly boring, and my life was blank. Without internet, I didn't know any up-to-date news since 9/11.

I was home-schooled and entered college at 15. My older brother wanted to manage the farm, so my parents sent me to live a city-life. In UT, there was everything. I learned politics - current events and whatnot, found out Obama was elected president two years ago, and played exciting games like MW2, or Dead Rising. I decided to join the Air Force and took Officer Training to be a pilot, alongside college. It was the beginning of my Senior year I met LOTC. And it changed my life.

I made characters to get away from the boring reality. I RP'ed as a guard, a mage, even a gangster kid, named after the capital of Texas. Whilst everyone was arguing about VAs and MAs and 4.0, I was having a blast. I didn't care what took place, so long as I could RP. I met people from all over the world, even democrats whom I had only heard evil things about. Because of LOTC, I grew a pair and went to my hometown to ask out the girl of my dreams. She accepted joyfully, much to my surprise and we ended up getting engaged in two months! It's Spring Break now, and in two days, I'm leaving for actual flight training!

I know a lot of you don't know me, as I only joined in August, but to those of you that do, I love you. I thank everyone that endured Rydan the Guard, Olivier, Castiel, and even gangster Austin. Even if you don't know me, I thank you for being part of the community that changed my life.

I love you guys; have fun. ((I have a phone and 4G though, so expect me here and there on the forums, like the Nations FRP. Bye guys))

I'm glad to hear that you benefited so much from your time on LotC, and it's certainly reassuring as a staff member to hear that the experience we have tried our best to provide has positively impacted at least some of the players in this community! I wish you luck with your flight training, and hopefully that girl you mentioned is wise enough to stick around with you for a very, very long while. ;)

I like to see stories like this from the community. It's people like you that make this such a blast for me. I'm glad you had a good experience with us and I wish you luck with flight training. As a Cessna aero-engineer/pilot I know how awesome it is to be in the air. Good luck in life man.

xD, I'll try not to. Thanks

This is touching, you'd be one of the few to leave LOTC with kind words and good grace. I wish you best of luck in your adventures.

I love you, thanks

Finally, someone who didn't care about the arguing, and just wanted to RP.

I'm glad to see that you are leaving on a good note and with a positive experience to remember us by. I wish you the best in your future endeavors, and I hope that you have heaps of fun learning how to fly -- it's definitely not something that I could do. If it interests you, I too have learned many lifetime skills that will benefit me greatly in my future career from my time here on LotC (such as management, administration, planning, and organization skills). It warms my heart to see that someone benefited so much from an online community that I had a part in, and I truly wish the best for you.

Have fun out there!
