[Feedback] The Disturbing Increase Of Swearing

 Share

Recommended Posts

STOP! Before you rage in the comments! Hear me out!

I know a lot of you are going to argue, and some will agree. So, I've noticed a increase in swearing during raids to begin with. Most including insults about another's mother with several choice words in between. But as a large community server, where younger kids play on, why do we feel the need to swear?

Thanks for reading and post what you think in the comments

Have a nice day! :D

Edit: Swearing is understood when someone gets extremely angry or upset. Just not all the time, ey?

Welcome to the internet. This sounds rough but get over it and get used to it, otherwise you're going to have a bad time.

Its the internet, did you expect maturity?

and honestly, if you're worried about swearing you're not going to have a good time here.

+mutilation

+murder

+xenophobia

+racism

+sexism

+gambling

All of these things are extremely prevalent on lotc. swearing is the most minor vice available.

Maybe people should tone it down a bit, but people should also get used to it. Thick skin is a good thing to have on the internet. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. :idk:

Got to learn to accept the way the community is, can't restrict their verbal ways. I don't think this server was ever intended to be family friendly nor will it ever be.

I would agree with you, but it's very likely that those "younger kids" are propagating it themselves.

I think he means IC guys. Although if it's OOC thats actually breaking a rule.

Back in Aegis though the server did intend to keep language at a civil scale. You could swear, but tastefully. Not every second sentence. That kind of stuff did get you banned and I watched quite a few people get banned for it due to the age rating of the server. With words like c***, N***** etc (Note I haven't actually typed out the swears here, I've just put a letter at the beginning so you know which words I'm talking about) being instant bans on the spot.

It may be the internet, but it doesn't mean you can't govern your own rules on it. There's nothing in the terms of usage to the internet that states you cannot make your own rules on it so long as the rules you make do not conflict with any international law etc etc blah blah.

Lead by example.

I think you'd have to admit there is no IC in raids. If IC cursing is an issue he would of brought it up ICly, but he seems to be stressing a community problem.

There's a lot of UNNECESSARY swearing, yes. Swearing IC is normally ok, but it becomes tasteless and overall shameful during raids, when people go around shouting like angry stereotypical Call of Duty try-hards. At least be smart when you swear, darn it! Come up with your own curses and swear phrases, instead of typing what you hear all over the place irl!

And therefore, all of those things should be dealt with in-character, or frowned upon out of character, because they're part of the reason LotC has become so stale.

**** **** *****  ***** **** **** ****

No but in all seriousness, it's people decisions on whether they swear OOCly/ICly. We live in a generation where young children play all kinds of graphic games with a heap of curse words in them. I don't see the big deal about it, honestly.
