Thales: Racial Bonuses

So let me get this straight...

Humans only get their damage buff against mobs?

I guess the only thing we'll be good at is fighting in those mob spawning events.

And we don't work together as humans when around a horde of angry orcs.

So then my character is past his prime after a year? No thank you. I've already been playing him for two years. I don't want to play an old man in order to get my skills up.

You don't have to. It's a compensation for choosing to play your human in this way. You also don't HAVE to select your Persona's professions to the ones your race gets a bonus for but if you do it gets easier for you.

You actually got the halflings ones perfect. Thumbs up from Pete.

It's negatives cancelling out positives in this case. They have these boosts from their elven heritage.

Dark Elves have the same treatment, exchanging breeder for stonemason profession and exchanging woodworker for blacksmith. Wood Elves get a negative to mining and so retain all three elven benefits, plus an additional boost.

Is it possible if you were as an example. Choose to be a high elven race due to magic resistance and more mana, when you than role play that you are a dwarf? Just to have the buffs?

Edit: Also would it make more sense that a dwarf get the magical resistance buff, besides high elves?

Though these traits are way better, human players are obviously not going to be happy over the fact that their ""combat bonus"" is versus mobs as opposed to other players of other races, whom themselves have straight up PvP-related buffs.  The quantity-damage-multiplying buff makes perfect sense for humans, but why has it been restricted to apply only when fighting mobs?

If this is about "Oren having all the numbers", is it really gonna be fair for those small parties of five orcs versus five humans?

I don't particularly care about numbers or war politics. Either way people will get upset if humans DO get a PvP boost and will get upset if they DON'T get a PvP boost. I foresee a forum thread coming. Also your survey results didn't show a particular big interest in PvP so that's what I went on.

You have dwarves backwards. Cave dwarves are the better smiths, not mountain. Otherwise, looks pretty good.

EDIT: yea, breeder and farmer should be switched too.... Just swap around the Cave and mountain dwarves and you got it :P

Uhm the thing I was shown shows differently but I believe you I'll change it shortly.

No.

Humans get a 10% XP boost in everythign. That is their combat boost. That is really good for them. That with their numbers mean they will be able to outfit their armies very quickly, and maintain a good supply of everything.

I would hope that the debuffs are taken away, there is no need for someone to get punished for playing a race.

How about give buffs that generally accepted by people, and remove the debuffs that certain races have. It would make sense that if someone learns to be a blacksmith he would know how to do it, and that a debuff to this wouldn't make sense at this point.  For example so if a southeren learns to master being a smith I disagree that they should be debuffed for being that race. So I believe we should keep buffs that are generally accepted for that race and just not have any debuffs for any race at all.

High elves being better at magic is no different than orcs dealing more damage, IMO.

Orcs live in a society dedicated to being the strongest, and therefore they benefit from strong racial buffs.

High elves are not only naturally longer lived, but live in a culture practically dedicated to learning magic. It makes sense that they'd be able to do it a bit better.

Also yeah, humans got the short end of the stick. Make that ability apply to other players and you're golden.

So basically either I play my character a certain way or my character's buffs aren't as good as those of the other races? Seems a bit unfair to me.
