Scattered around all sorts of places where people are known to frequent (and not die) another elven notice is posted with all the usual pomp of Haelun'or. If you have bothered to read the notice, being the dreadfully inquisitive fellow that you are, it would read as thus--

nJQPSVu.png

Lliran, what is freedom?

In the days of the old Princedom, when the Bearded Elf reigned in lands untarnished by war, there was not an elf who would harm another out of malice, or for the desire to keep order. We were an innocent people kept safe from Iblees’ greatest evils, and the brave Wardens would watch our roads and end any monster with a firm shot from their bows. Freedom was simply to live without fear.

But time drew on, and without the hand of Native, the Princedom festered. Asulon brought laziness, debauchery and ignorance; with the throw-offs of every foul place slithering into elmalin’or. Normandor, for all its attempts at order, eventually fell into disarray under a number of poor leaders. Haelun’or, thankfully having left the influence of the Princes, remained unaffected.

This ‘council of splinters’ is the beginning to a return of the past. Chaos. Sheer debauched disorder. They desire freedom from the influence of Haelun’or, which has done its utmost to shepherd its wayward cousins to discipline and logic, only to have the ways of old return to the fore. These elves, in all their idealistic fervour, certainly expect any ensuing ‘rights’ to ensure the continuance of their egalitarian ways. But these rights will undoubtedly return to precisely what they were before.

The Rights of Old

The Right to live above the law.

To ignore their superiors and disregard common decency.

The Right to care nothing for the state.

For when the ship is sinking, the rats will board another.

The Right to harbour the foulest of beings.

Necromancers, Shades, serial-killers, and Uruks are, in their eyes, ‘misunderstood.’

The Right to breed genocide.

Mixing of blood curses twice. And without longevity, what is more certain than a lonely death?

The Right to die painfully.

To be raided, murdered, tossed about and tread upon by any and all who would choose to do so.

The Right to be afraid.

To fear every passer-by as a killer, a thug, a thief, or a monster.

Who are these individuals who would harbour yet another failed state? The cast-offs of every society. Almost all are known to take part in selfish, wasteful relationships for their sake of their own emotional gratification. The creation of Elven children is an obligation that all elves must answer. It is a crime in Haelun’or, but they are punished not for the act, but for the sheer lack of common sense. Add this to their consorting with dark magicians, and some even being enemies of the Valah Temple. Even if they do not outwardly show it, they will always put themselves before the whole.

Something that has been stated before, and supported by our own council, was a condition within each concordat that afforded the signatories the right to depart Haelun’or at any time. This was indeed true. And we stopped none who did so. However, a further condition has been violated.

“VI: From this day forward pledge to never allow half-breeds of high elven blood, or impure high elves into their ranks, cities, or wherever they call home.”

Relgard Sintel -- Osage Village. Banished, impure.

Naeri Evangelo --  Talonnii Village. Banished, impure.

Elwen Evangelo -- Talonnii Village. Banished, impure.

Reported attacks upon our people within the druid grove have further strained our ability to trust in their capability of rational thought. Though with such leaders, can we be surprised?

Claimed ‘cruelties’ enacted by the Silver Council could have simply been abated by obedience, and discipline. The pulling of the vilest weeds was a necessity to bring order to our people. But for this horrifying construct, this ‘council of splinters,’ euthanasia is the only option. We of Haelun’or advise, and perhaps even beg, for nations near and far to destroy this Malinor, before its blackened ichors seep back into all of our lands.

A small note makes its way to the High elves, simply put

"If you're going to banish us, please spell Evaglno correctly.
-Naeri EVAGLNO"

A reply is pinned to one of the posters.

"If our project is so doomed to fail, why do you seek so strongly to stop it? If it is such a diseased, corrupted idea, surely the mighty Mali'valah have no cause to worry? Surely our disproved theories would not be cause for the Mali'ame and Mali'ker to leave Haelun'or in droves.

Oh, wait. Looks like they are.

Nobody lives above the law. Our law simply allows what yours does not. The murderous fool you banished? Guz Volaren? He is also disallowed from our settlements for violent crimes. He broke our law, and he was punished.

You speak of rats jumping ship, but is that not comparable to your own peril? Why is it that us, such low and pitiful beings, are enjoying the company of elves who once lived under the Mali'valah?

Show me a Necromancer in my town, and I will purge him. Show me a shade or a killer, and I will do the same. Show me an orc with violence in his eyes and he will be removed.

We do not endorse what you call 'breeding genocide', but we cannot stop it. Neither you nor us. If we forbid it as you have, it will be done elsewhere. Such a relationship between elf and non-elf will surely end in the non-elf's death of age. Is it not best for the elf to be around other elves when they are open once again?

And you talk of raids, yet every other day your city is all but taken by the Uruk. Every other day your people are killed and wealth stolen. Talonnii? Not one raid has harmed us. Norithel? The same is said for our allies. It seems that the only elves dying to raids are your own.

Why should we be afraid? You claim a great war against us, yet all you've managed to do is kill a few defenseless druids. Why should we be afraid when your people are set on such a course for self-destruction? Surely there will be reprimand when you decide to cheer at the killing of a green 'rebel elf', or a short 'rebel elf'. Maybe even one of your Valah owners will look a bit too much like a 'rebel elf'.

None of the crimes of impurity you listed were committed in Haelun'or, for the Mali had already used their right to leave the city when we formed our own settlements.

We do not seek to harm your people, despite how backwards they are. We have made no attacks against them. Will not make attacks against them, for there is only one way an elf can destroy his race, and that is by killing his cousins. We will not stoop as low as you.

But if you should decide to continue this trail, know this.

Our walls are as tall as yours, and much more secure.

Ac'Aelu Corval - Talonnii."

A masked figure tilts his head slightly as he reads the poster. He speaks to his accomplice, "Exemplary of the cowardice of Haelun'or, unable to pick their own fights, they plea for the citizenry and the other nations of the world to lynch those who dissent. They are weak within protection of the strong, snails in a tough shell, but now it shall be easy for us to plant salt upon the dirt which this snail crawls."

*A note, carrying with it an aura of putrescent, meaty stench, would be seen posted to the billboard near the new high elven capital It has been written in dripping crimson. Those who touch it would get the immediate premonition that it carries fell ailments, for it releases the festering odor of the flesh of an undead beast. Otherwise, it would be simple to tear down.*

"On the next elwen morning you shall expect to see three heads piked before your gate. They are what will remain of three men dear to you, those who support your machine of hatred and destruction, and those who shall finally pay the price for their sins, to the mali'aheral, your slander before your murder, negligence and thievery. None of you, elves of Haelun'or, are safe. Those who would like to preserve themselves, leave this hive of filth and never return, renounce your ties to this disgusting nation, and forever close your mouth on the virtues of 'elven unity'.

our only virtue is the happiness and kinship that malin desired for his children.

may the divines guide you all.

Do not search for us among the splinters, for us you shall not find..."

Kalenz glances to the foul smelling note and then back to Ac'aelu's note "No necromancers here! None at all.", he mutters.

Aelu sighs, sending a note to the other Council leaders.

"Apparent Necromancer acting against Mali'Valah. Claim to be fighting for our goals. Find and apprehend him."

The emaciated figure of a woman dressed in dark robes snatches one of the many notices that litter the lands. Bringing the letter up to cast her vision upon the words written. She stood, carefully reading for some time before tucking the notice into her right arm sleeve. A simple response slips from her lips as she turns to fade back into the lands that conceal the location in which she trekked.

"Haelun'or shall receive a response in time f.. For the arrogance in the decision they've made."

"If we believe all who do wrong are misunderstood, imagine how your children opinionize you.." Willow mumbles as she reads the poster, before stumbling away.

Lucas mutters as even apparently banished people can so easily reach this letter, "Why is it every Shade is pegged for the crimes of another...they stand for chaos, not unity under it...and I still don't get the issue with me being a Half-Elf. Not even High-Elven."

“VI: From this day forward pledge to never allow half-breeds of high elven blood, or impure high elves into their ranks, cities, or wherever they call home.”

Seeing as they don't live in Haelun'or and therefore have no reason to expect Haelun'ors laws to apply to them, one wonders how this is relevant.

Dwyn takes notice of the writing and reads it over, shaking his head with a small sigh. Once home he makes himself a warm drink, and grabs out paper and a quill to write out his response.

Once done, he posts his response next to Ac'Aelu's.

The elves of Haelun'or rush to throw accusations about our laws, when they do not even know them. I will approach each of these "Rights" and inform any reader that does not want to shut out my words.

The Right to live above the law.
To ignore their superiors and disregard common decency.

Those who lead the 'Splinter' towns are well respected by their people. They have been put into this position because their people support and listen to them. Even this- none are above the law. If one were to murder, they would be punished. If one were to steal, they would not find themselves free from judgement.

The Right to care nothing for the state.
For when the ship is sinking, the rats will board another.

The only instance that could be seen as this is the Osage's leave to join Talonnii, and that 'other ship' was that of their own kin and alliance. Everyone in our settlements, if the town is threatened, take up blade and defend the weaker. Those living with us take pride in our homes.

The Right to harbour the foulest of beings.
Necromancers, Shades, serial-killers, and Uruks are, in their eyes, ‘misunderstood.’

Find a Shade, Necromancer, or Serial killer within my home and I will root them out. I have no love for people who practice chaotic magic, or those who harm others simply for the sake of harming. There are no Uruks within my settlement, and as a previous post said, ANY who show violence within my home will be removed.

The Right to breed genocide.
Mixing of blood curses twice. And without longevity, what is more certain than a lonely death?

The only lonley death is that of the elf abandoned because they experienced love. You say this is an emotional weakness but it is love for our people and our world and ourselves that drive us. The pain of these relationships are for the family to bare, for they know it well.
We do not encourage these relationships, but we do not doom them to the pain of seeing their loved ones die even earlier from acid or murder- a process that not only causes the pain of loss, but the hate to those who harmed the loved one.

There are those who would still preserve their family's purity, and it is that family's duty to regulate that- not their leaders.

The Right to die painfully.
To be raided, murdered, tossed about and tread upon by any and all who would choose to do so.

Simply put, we have not been raided. We build our walls strong- Perhaps this is thanks to the influence of Haelun'or, seeing their impressive walls over many years. In Asulon- I was never within those walls in the years I traveled there. With effort we have constructed our own walls, and will use them to keep unsavory sorts away, with a shower of arrows if need be.

The Right to be afraid.
To fear every passer-by as a killer, a thug, a thief, or a monster.

We do not have this fear, we have trust in our defenses and our people as fighters. We have gates and weapons to defend from such unsavory 'passer-by'.

We of the Splinters only wish to split peacefully from the Elves of Haelun'or.

We have no desire for a war.

We've made no threats.

And we do not wish to 'Rebel' or 'Overthrow' the Mali'Aheral.

Duvaindir goes on a comedic rant. He warns his audience that what he will say may be harsh and not for easy ears.

Elrolas Laenniel'tahorran, so wanting to be skeptical, can not actually deny that half of the elves he had tasked himself to defend where in some way necromancer sympathizing psychopaths.

He remembers when he had to deal with elves legitimately saying "The scourge allow more freedom than you, who are you to ask me to take MY hood off!" When they had brandished throwing knives on his person.

And he remembers when he had to arrest a man for horrifically torturing a child for stealing potatos from him. And when he had tortured those who perverted the lines between life and death for information, he was deemed unethical in stopping such a taint in land he so wished to love.

The world he had tried to protect so long was the world he had hated ever so much, which would allow him to painfully accept now that he may even agree with this current elven authority.

(( Not changing to a high elf or anything, but I can't help but feel Elrolas would have almost agreed with this.))
