Mankaar 166 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I think the changes are fine, I like how I don't have to log on the forums and see pointless rage on the status bar. While you're at it please remove all forms of rep, please it's pointless and promotes those horrendous one meme posts for "Lolz". Some people are overreacting, really overreacting, sometimes people can be so childish.

Samler 1565 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Just doing this somewhat quickly and I am sorry if this is already taken up simply too lazy to read these 5 pages right now so let my view be written down! Statuses; I really liked those, not posting them but reading them. Makes the server looks much more alive and who knows what kind of eye candy awaiting you? Rep; I honestly don't care. My quick view of the changes! In my oppinion, bring back the Statuses, no oppinion on the rep anyhow.
spqrSancus 175 Share Posted September 11, 2014 I think the whole situation is quite clear to everyone: The general Consensus is as follows. Remove Reputation. Keep it gone. Bring us back our status updates. I am of the same opinion as the above consensus, and a grand majority of their reasoning is much the same as my own. I do not feel the need to reiterate. Alan 1815 Author Share Posted September 11, 2014 I've read 100-200 replies of generally the same stuff, it's already apparent that the majority of people have the same view, although as there are always are there are a select few with differing opinions than the majority. Here's what I've gathered so far based on what MOST people seem to be saying: Status Updates: Pointless, but they are good for a variety of things. Any drama that passes through them is rare and usually not even taken seriously, so stricter moderation is all that's needed. Overall, players are in favor of their resurrection. Reputation: Most people don't care one way or another what happens to reputation. Those that have provided substantial feedback on it have mostly said that it's removal was a positive change, though of course a few people think otherwise. Overall, people are in favor of it remaining removed. It's still too early to say what the fate of either will be, but that's simply what I've gathered from posts over the past few days.
Dry Crackers 268 Share Posted September 11, 2014 Here's an idea! If the staff REALLY WANTS a dedicated news feed box/section/whatever, have their statuses that have to do with news/updates those things in red, or with a red name, or in a separate box. Just gonna throw out there how I was under the impression the whole remove status thing had passed outside of the agenda a month or so ago, and so when I first saw the announcement it was rather surprising. Off-topid but still staff pls keep us in the loop, thanks.

Destroyer_Bravo 1054 Share Posted September 12, 2014 REP or RIOT STATUS or RIOT You know, if everything is "toxic" you may as well remove elves, dwarves, orcs, humans, azogs, magic, shamanism, leaders, runesmithng, forums, armies, swords, food, players, pvp, pve, rp, fun... I can go on. As well, anyone who cries about beng downvoted should seriously HTFU and just stop. "m-m-muh ego" crying should never happen.

It was a tool used to bully other players and make them feel unwelcome. Back when we had downvotes it was abused to hell, it came to the point where a certain player was denied roleplay due to the amount of downvotes he got. The community back then wasn't that bad. How would you expect the current playerbase to handle the feature if it came back? Honestly if you see a dumb post, either post a constructive disagreement or get some self control and leave the thread. No ones forcing you to post. I think downvotes would resolve alot of the issues on the forums. Points don't mean jack **** anyway but it would seriously reduce the shitposting, and since downvotes are essentially anonymous it would allow players to relieve angst without igniting stupid eternal feuds. I am not against -1's but I do see how they can negatively effect people. When someone doesn't like what you did and instead of telling you that they click a little box it leaves you wondering. People may get targeted by whole groups to where the point where every post whether shitpost or not is downvoted and the worst part is they wouldn't even know why or who. Plus just like +1 it is a lazy thing. Still might be nice to try out.
KarmaDelta 969 Share Posted September 12, 2014 As I said on my first post, negative rep is like an emotional tatto someone carries, especially if the rep for profiles is turned on. Since it's not anymore, it should not matter if -1s are implemented, though, +1s shouldn't matter at this point either. I think if we have a +1 system, and only a +1 system, and no way of people quickly showing any small for of negativity is stifling. With the debate of how negative posts affect a player, it is to be expected. Not everyone agrees with an idea. If possible, you can always keep +/- 1s mainly in the feedback, lore and idea section, staff applications and so forth. As long as it's in a place where it wont be easily abused all the time and makes sense, it should be fine. If visual rep on profiles is brought back though, make it so that people can't go negative on it. That would be fair in a way. Thoughts?
Aedan The Bard 350 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The benefit of making a thread about it? Someone else can search for it. You can't search statuses. You can if you click "view all statuses"

Plus just like +1 it is a lazy thing. Still might be nice to try out. Maybe people would actually think about what they posted if they knew they could get -1. People like to protect their reputation, and are not so quick to troll, and backlash when they know their reputation is at stake. With just +1's before, they knew they would always be safe in that area. Of course this always has it's downside, some people could disregard people's opinions because "Oh, he has -5 rep. Clearly he doesn't know what he is talking about." when he/she could be right in some opinions. What if you could only +1 and -1 in posts that you have commented in? If a staff member sees a ton of players just saying "-1" in the posts rather than legit posts, they can clear all the -1s from that person due to pure unfairness. That would be a lot of work though wouldn't it? lol I personally would't want to do it, so I understand if you don't like the sound of that idea.
