Status updates have become staff broadcasting their threads, as seen with zero's art broadcast and someones building group broadcast.  Its also kinda annoying seeing that.  Personally I could care less about status's but I think thats giving someone staff an unfair advantage above the players when they can do that.

yes because not having your lotc twitter feed somehow ruins your experience here and makes you resent the actual server.

There's no need to be passive aggressive, I don't think the status's should of been removed but acting this way is nothing to be proud of. (That poll shows 16 players out of the hundreds of that play, it's not very accurate and probably shouldn't be used in this argument but I would assume most players did indeed enjoy reading and using the status updates.)

I miss the status message. There was always something interesting to read and click. Now the forums seem a lot more stale, inactive. Yes, unmoving and dead even. I would support a comeback of status updates.

So it has been around a week since the removal of status updates now. My initial response to the change was that I expected the removal would be a good break from all the negativity that is often seen in the status updates.

To a large extent it has been refreshing to check the forums without having to read through any passive aggressiveness, raging and immaturity that was often displayed there. On top of that I think it has also been an effective way for the staff to update the player base about smaller updates that don’t warrant a whole forum post, e.g. Patch notes, important threads to view, etc. Where previously those updates would be replaced by the newer ones and would often be missed.

However I also feel that many beneficial aspects have been lost with the change. They often were a spot where people could have a laugh, advertise things, ask questions or even just share what was join on. Without them the forums do seem to have lost a bit of their lustre and there is less appeal to come on here as often.  

Overall I get the idea that the statuses brought the community together more than it caused it to splinter and it would be nice to see them return after the trail is over.

Been a week now, hardly anyone besides a few people likes the status update removal (could care less about rep). Don't drag this on longer than you need to, bring back status updates.

We didn't ask for it. The poll from months ago showed that the majority was in favor of keeping them. We've given them a week, as stated by Alan previously, a lot of people dislike the removal of status updates save for you and a few others. Why the hell should we wait any longer when it's clear what we want?

Because LOTC is not a democracy and they shouldn't have to listen or care what you think on every little detail that goes on on LOTC. They're not doing this to piss you off, they're doing what's best for the server as a whole, which does not require anyone's input. If anything you guys are just complaining over nothing.

As an imperialistic Australian, I salute you. I mean, we obviously have no idea what's best for us that we need the hierarchy to just bypass the opinions of the community and simply implement such things.

(I'm not being serious. Of course I'm not actually comparing the loss of statuses to the loss of children.)
