What's The Deal With Orcish Height?

I think the orcs should be able to be incredibly huge...if they are all dumb as hell. This includes no skill in fighting, Simply waving a club.

Orcs aren't stupid. They're uneducated. They don't usually learn how to do a lot of stuff "civilized" people do, but in place they learn practical things.

Ologs are stupid.

I'll just ask this, then.

What are currently the flaws for an Orc? Specifically the extremely large ones.

lack of numbers

I'll just ask this, then.

- Slow

- Bloodlust

- Being big can lead to many negative things

- Tusks, they can't speak properly

- They get threatened by people half their size whenever they leave their lands

- Lack of numbers

Their extremely large targets for archers and ranged magical people, for one. They can't talk well, thus communication is difficult, and are easily angered.

That and they're green. Like c'mon.

If that's genuinely your only answer, then there needs to be a change. Elves aren't exactly numerically strong either but we're not making threads about why other people should lose to us.

In response to Demo, being large targets would actually be significant if the majority didn't role-play like behemoth berserkers that feel no pain.

Elves are so mean that my character bursts into tears when he gets racially abused.

That's sort of a crap answer. Orcs historically have gotten their butts handed to them by Dwarves and Oren on a nearly regular basis. Elves have to deal with Orcs constantly. You guys as a culture of war and fighting expose the rest of the world to your methods and behavior on a daily basis, you're making everyone else as war-like as yourselves by constantly harassing them.

You don't see threads about heavily armored Dwarves and knights requiring clarification about their combat prowess as well. They just RP. If your only method of attack in a RP fight is *charges* then you will likely die.

My character can't feel pain very well due to a rediculous number of horrid scars all over her body since she was born. Which isn't always a good thing.

But even if she doesn't feel pain, she stands three inches shy of nine feet tall, and is massive as you would imagine. Refer to the picture on the left.

Assuming the orc isn't powergaming, which isn't a problem with orcs but a problem with the player, if he gets shot in the chest with an arrow he's done. If he gets engulfed in flames by a pyromancer he's almost done. He might get some swings off for maybe 10 seconds due to their notorious thick hide before crumpling to the ground and dying. If a necromancer sucks the life out of him - HE'S. DONE.

I can keep going...

likewise, though, many players who are non orcs also play as if they have orcish fighting skills and nerves and such. Like they can take on the world. I've seen a guy dodge an arrow because "lol /roll 20 i win". I've seen people take wounds like they're nothing. Stabbed in the stomach? I can' keep going! Someone will heal me later! Yeah! That doesn't cripple my ability to fight in the slightest!

better yet are those who think that just because they wear armor they're basically impervious to weaponry. I saw one guy say something like "the blow glances off his armor, denting it slightly, he goes to stab so and so", which was in response to someone swinging a massive war hammer at him. I can't remember much of that since it was a while ago, but yeah.

Orcs aren't powergamers, people are. If you see an orc who think's he's indestructible, call him out on it. If he says "lol im an ork u kant hurt mi" then br him.

And someone mentioned something about footwork : Illah does a lot of foot work and such. She never charges stupidly. So, maybe I'm just doing it right. That, and she uses a double bladed quarter staff so she kind of has to be intricate.

yes but the culture itself isn't based around war, and if orks didn't exist your point would be irrelevant, even if orcs were the only race they'd resort to killing each other due to their violent culture

and for your second point, that is because the abilities of dwarves and knights are well-understood, the strength of an ork is not
