Républic Français

 

 

 

The President looks over the capital city of Paris with a gleaming sense of pride. Everywhere he looked, Henry could see history. The Palace of Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, and more all stood as monuments to not only their intended purpose, but to the success and longevity of Western Civilization itself. Paris had been established in the Third Century, BC and had seen over two millennia of life, death, failure, and triumph. Now it was Henry's turn to contribute to that growth. Paris, and all of France, would now see the greatest triumph in all of that time.

 

 

 

Major infrastructure projects concluded with Green Highways and streamlined canals to help with the movement of troops and goods in the country. The economic situation is secured and now focus may be put into the education system and military. The first major investment by the French government is a pair of military dockyards along the Mediterranean coast. These two dockyards would be some of the largest in the world and help produce ships for any future war effort. 

 

 

 

Relations are boosted with the Francophone nation of Belgium in an attempt to tighten economic and military cooperation. The writing is on the wall to most other European nations, which clearly shows that the French hope to annex the Belgian state however President Henry would never say so openly. Instead, Belgian naval assets move to join French assets in the Mediterranean and money pours into Belgium for the construction of aircraft for the French and Belgian war machine.

 

 

 

Designs are drawn for a new type of artillery, hailed as the Napoleon II, are drawn up in the military research hub of Verdun. The artillery peace would be fixed in a single location and be capable of firing at ranges of well over 200 miles. The hope is to shell a location from extremely far away and then move in fast moving troops under the cover of the artillery fire. 

 

 

 

Active camouflage is being researched in the city of Brussels and the hope is to add the design to the next generation of French fighter jets and drones which were also being researched in the same city. 

 

 

 

Tank designs are also drawn up which would allow for all-terrain movement and motion. Its revolutionary design includes a sleek finish and some sort of fusion based engine. It features twin cannons and something straight out of a sci-fi novel, hover-craft technology. An emphasis on drone technology is also put into place and modernized along with the rest of the French military.

The People's Republic of Sweden

The economic depression had hit Sweden and her people hard. Many people lost their jobs, and those that kept them found harder work for less pay. The government could not afford to keep those without work out of poverty and so deprivation became widespread. Deprivation grew into discontent grew into anger, which soon became revolutionary action.

Capitalism had failed, it was unreliable and unfair. Soviet communism had equally failed, moreso than capitalism. The social welfare system had worked well in its time, but it too ultimately failed as it was ultimately built on capitalism. To the people of Sweden, true Socialism was the answer. Not quite how Marx had envisioned it with the proletariat essentially enslaving their former corporate overlords, but instead only the united, free and prosperous people, all working for both the people themselves and the greater good of Sweden. That was the driving ideal behind the quickly spreading revolution.

And it did spread like wildfire. The first city to fall to the revolutionary forces was the ancient holy site of the old gods, Uppsala. After that, each major population centre fell one by one. A man named Karl Bjorkson became the public figurehead as he brought together the different contingents of military defectors and the already socialist cities. Even before the capital of Stockholm fell, he declared the People's Republic to be the one true, independent state of Sweden.

And Stockholm would soon fall. After a siege that lasted over 120 days, the last semblance of government there surrendered as its own military forces turned against them. In February of 2029, Sweden was once again united, this time under a socialist government. But work was yet to be done.

The government and constitution was reformed. There would be a permanent President, who was the head of state, and then below him a council of the democratically elected representatives from each major population centre and their surrounding areas, the Folketsråd, who would each be a Folkkommissarien, the equivalent of a Minster in the old government.

The People's Republic of Sweden has come far in the past few years, but there is still much to be done in service to the people, both abroad and at home.

Actions:

Firstly, the government begins the collectivisation of all industry, infrastructure and agriculture. All industrial and commercial buildings are seized by the state, so too are the sources of energy in Sweden, most of which is hydroelectric. Farmers, rather than selling to corporations would now sell to the government, at prices that were acceptable for the farmers whilst also economic for the state. All industry is managed by the state and therefore so is employment. For the people, the general policy of "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" is adopted, but the freedom to choose employment is also maintained.

Secondly, the socialist revolution is promoted in neighbouring and Nordic countries. Propaganda is sent to Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Scotland and Greenland in order to spread revolutionary action and to ensure that any such revolutionary action is indeed socialist. Monetary support is given to the already existing revolutionary groups in those countries.

As for Finland, financial support to rebels and propaganda is also sent, however the propaganda also slates their new Russian overlords, utilising old Finnish pride of their WW2 efforts against the Russians. Both are distributed by Finnish co-operators, and the propaganda is made to be printed in and unique to Finland. This is to ensure that any Russian authority that catches wind of either, then it won't be traced back to the Swedish government.

Thirdly, whilst the Russians hadn't outwardly expressed any desire to subjugate Sweden or Scandinavia they were wary of their expansion, especially in the case of Finland. As such they expand the military somewhat, recruiting around 20,000 troops. All are trained to be a sort of guerrilla force, but one that utilises modern equipment in conjunction with the traditional ambush warfare etc. Former Vietcong officers who fought in the Vietnam war are imported in order to ensure the force in properly knowledgable on guerrilla tactics. With modern equipment, proper training, and the Nordic winter, this force should be able to defend even the mightiest of forces.

A defensive alliance and research agreement offer is sent to FRANCE and the U.S. Trade deals are sent to ALL EUROPEAN, ASIAN, and NORTH AMERICAN ((PLAYER)) NATIONS.

GERMANY

 

The collapse of the Eurozone had hit them hard, the hardest of all the European countries. Hans Wulfgang, Chancellor of Germany for three years now, recognized this not as a weakness, but a chance for reformation. No longer would Germany be the loan company of Europe, (mostly because they had no money), and would only help those who helped them. But, first, they had to surround themselves with trade partners. The offers are of course instantly accepted, yet small 3-5% tariff increases are implemented, in order to help stiffen the flimsy economic backbone of the nation.

The next problem, would the the so called 'Slavic Empire' that was trying to conquer all of Eastern Europe. They had already threatened Poland and Hungary, meaning Germany would be next. And, if the Fatherland fell, so would Western Europe. As such, the chancellor offers out or accepts military alliances to France and Italy, offering to create the Verdreifachen Alianz - an settlement of differences and complete alliance for the defense of Western Europe. This secret message is obviously depicted to put the current threat to European safety, the Slavic Empire, in harms way to try and cripple their ruthless imperialism.

 

Messages are sent to Poland, Hungary and basically all countries east of Europe that had not succumb to the grasp of the Red Bear, to defy the militaristic, imperialistic and down right mental Russians, and instead strengthen ties with Germany. Poland and Hungary were Germany's closest allies in the 2000s, so Hans expected full cooperation. To Austria, an offer of unity is sent in order to empower both countries, and give Germany access to the Mediterranean. Austria is offered full protection and use of Germany's welfare/social policies, which are better for the average person than Austria's current ones.

 

The Human Rights act enforced by the EU has been completely scrapped, and replaced by the German Rights. This allows for the deportation or imprisonment of immigrants, refusal of emigrants and gives more power to German citizens than those of different nationalities seeking asylum in Germany. As far as voting goes, those who have not lived in Germany for at least 5 years are not allowed to vote politically at all.

 

MILITARY ACTIONS

 

Germany had not been in a war for 20 years, and so cut down on military spending to ease the economic crisis. But with all the new income being received from various trade deals, spending rose ever so slightly again. A large line of defense is under construction, similar to that of the Maginot line, but actually possibly successful. It would run down the eastern front of Germany, consisting of railways, artillery stations, and airbases around 40 miles inwards. Most military bases in the west are deconstructed and transferred further east, allowing for quick troop movements to both borders.

The United States of America

 

The U.S depression begins to heal - factories, projects, and soup kitchens aid Americans in their struggle for jobs. The unemployment rate, formerly at 22% a few years ago, drops down to 13%, and the U.S economy now seems to be getting much better, as all economies do after a period of time. Project Oval is a lot cleaner, and efficient, green, and 100% renewable energy seems to be the direction America is headed. Almost done with nationwide construction, even corporations turn to this new form of clean power.

 

Following the invasion of Australia by Indonesia, the war department immediately sends off naval groups to its bases in its pacific islands, along with 90,000 or so infantrymen. The U.S also chides Indonesia's expansionist policies in South East Asia & Oceania. All American troops, personnel, and equipment/vehicles are taken out of the Manchurian region. However, the United States does not accept Western China's counter-offer, as India is an American ally, and instead a very basic non-aggression pact is offered. 'I won't attack you, if you don't attack me'. Also, the U.S deems Western China as full China, because it does not recognize East or Manchuria as sovereign states, but instead as rebel-occupied territories. 

 

The American people feel better towards Russia than anytime in the history of the world. Although the U.S sees Germany in a friendly way, and thinks it a responsible state, it has bitter feelings for France - as they aid the state of Indonesia. If war breaks out, it would basically be Western Europe versus the United States and Russia. Seeing Scandinavia's revival, the U.S accepts trade deals with Scandinavia, and the defensive alliance. The United States also asks Russia to allow Scandinavian countries its peace, so that all three regions could prosper. Also, Russian troops are invited to Alaska for training exercises, to strengthen the bonds between the two states and their planned future Mars Mission. Indo-China's offer is accepted, and the three nations work on space technologies.

 

The political meeting in the nation's capital is too be held soon. All the nations that were previously invited are still invited, with the addition of ((every played nation)).

The People's Republic of Sweden:

With the US' acceptance of a defensive alliance, in order to prevent a clash of Swedish interests, the defensive alliance offer with FRANCE is withdrawn, but the trade offer remains. An emphasis that there is no bad will from the Swedish people towards France accompanies it.

Instead, a defensive pact offer is sent to GERMANY, hoping to create another strong ally without potentially perturbing the other.

The Republic of South Korea

 

Economy remained on the rise with a low employment rate and a continuing to hold the 15th spot in terms of GPD. Trade agreements with multiple European nations also continued along with their closest allies Japan and the US while they turned a wary eye towards the North whom watched from afar. Over the years the north has made many attempts to infiltrate the Korean Republic and stir opposition against the government by having intelligent North Koreans sent in to reform the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front. However every attempt has failed due to the careful eye and grasp over the political parties by the government to ensure they did not overstep their bounds in terms of anti-government propaganda.

 

Diplomatic relations remained on the rise as ambassadors conducted missions to The United People's Republic of Indochina to better improve relations between the two countries. It has been long since Vietnam and North Korea's relations deteriorated due to the shared views with the rest of the world of the North's inhumane treatment and labor camps. Progress towards military agreements would be possible soon.

 

Meanwhile the military stood on high alert as Korean patrols continued to heighten on both sides of the DMZ. bringing about much tension including rumored artillery both being pointed at opposing sides of the DMZ. To oppress these obvious attempts of aggression two additional Brigades, both consisting of 6,000 trained soldiers and 200 artillery pieces are forwarded to the tense border with between the two Korean nations.

 

As for the Yellow Sea over the past decades there have been multiple naval engagements sparked by North Koreans trespassing in South Korean waters and attempting to kidnap innocent fishers. To halt this, the First Korean Navy Carrier Strike Force consisting of the following is sent into the Yellow Sea along the ROK border:

The Kingdom of Indonesia

 

 

 

As the Indonesian army marches through the streets of Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, there is no doubt in anyone's mind who's in charge. Across the newly conquered territory, the Australian flag is ceremonially lowered, being replaced by the flag of Indonesia. The new government keeps its promises, and Australian citizenship transfers over to Indonesian citizenship. The remainder of the Australian army is absorbed under the Indonesian army, as is the navy. The majority of Australian ships are sent north, to join the main fleet. But even more importantly, the Australian air force survives mostly intact, and more than doubles the kingdom's air power.

 

The rebellion would be snuffed out in due time; Australia's geography had relatively few places for a guerilla fighting force to hide. In cities where rebel sentiment is strong, the Badai troopers take an administrative role, quickly identifying treasonous enemies and making them "disappear."

 

In truth, many of these criminals are sent to labor elsewhere in the country, as Indonesia immediately begins to exploit the resource-rich continent. Coal and iron mines supply steel mills, which in turn supply new factories, which churn out whatever the nation needs. The naval yard construction proceeds on schedule, and now with a nearly unlimited supply of material, it should reach its full potential.

 

A third 40,000 man division of Badai troopers is commissioned, similarly taking only the very best soldiers as the first two did. The corps by now has taken on a role as the King's personal guard, secret police, and shock troops. Wherever they are deployed, fear follows, and enemies of the state know that the King is watching.

 

The CMR completes the Hammerhead Project, the design of a new standard type of missile for use primarily on the Vengeance class missile destroyers. Lightweight and cost effective, they have a range of up to 400 miles, and are capable of targeting land, sea and air targets. Each one is also equipped with a scrambling device intended to confuse anti-missile systems.

 

 

As the missiles enter production, the CMR then commits its full effort to its other main project: AI development. Dramatic strides have been made since the project was started, but it is still considered not yet ready for practical implementation.

 

The Solomon Islands, long an independent territory in the shadow of Indonesia, are forcefully and quickly annexed as a small detachment of the Indonesian army storm them within a week. A small military base is established to maintain order in the new province.

 

Peace Conference

His Majesty Asrul Kapur, King of Indonesia arrives in Washington and steps into the conference room. Stern faced, he observes the room, which is empty as of yet except for a few aides. Assuming the host of the conference will want the head of the table, he strides to the other end, and takes his seat. He had spoken to some of the other delegates outside, and they should be entering soon enough. For now he steeples his fingers and waits, his face inscrutable.

THE GREATER PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC INDOCHINESE REPUBLIC

The newspapers' headlines scream about the recent union between the two nations. Thousands, nay, millions take to the streets in celebration. Nationalism rears it's ugly head as the masses come together and demand the next best thing: WAR!

 

 

Some demand Indonesian blood while others want the Chinese to pay for the 1978 conflict. Right wing extremists call for the revenge against Japanese occupation of the 1940's. Hell, some even want to go to war against India and France.  No matter with who, the masses make it clear that blood must be shed if the people are to be kept happy. The government fears that ethnic tensions might arise if the national focus is not quickly addressed towards another goal.

 

The Premier and his cabinet ponder on what the next move is, trouble had already arisen near the Cambodian and Laos border as remnants of the Khmer Rouge had attempted to burn down some Laotian villages. Swift and merciless punishment puts a check on that for the moment, but Buddhistal knows it cannot last. Something will need to be done in order to preserve this Union.

Diplomacy and Foreign Policy

-Regarding issues developing in Northern Europe, a communique is sent to the Swedish government expressing the desire for a trade agreement.

-A request for an urgent meeting is sent to the South Korean president, regarding the oppressive regime of the North.

-The Indian troops are interned once they pass into Confederate lands. The government keeps their location secret for the moment.

-The Confederacy asks that the Indonesians leave the Malaysian territory attached to the peninsula, since it poses a risk and keeps Singapore detached from the rest of the union.

U.S Reaction Post (Conference):

 

President Douglas Sherman arrives at the conference room, fashionably late. Smiling at the diversity of the delegates right outside, he steps in and notices an Indian-looking man sitting opposite to his seat. King Asrul Kapur, leader of Indonesia. In the 2010s, the CIA planned to kill Kapur, before he could reach to power - thinking him a bad leader. President Reiner, Sherman's predecessor, whom the people blamed for causing the depression, had waved the CIA's assassination plan off, thinking him a low-level threat. America was wrong about two things: That Kapur was a bad leader and a low level threat. Aside from then, Sherman only knew the man who led his country to be a world power on the news. He resists the urge to frown, and instead smiles. On the way to his seat, he puts his hand out, "President Sherman. I assume you're King Kapur?" He goes to his chair and sits down.

Asrul smiles wryly as the president takes his seat.

 

"You assume correctly, Mr. President." The king speaks in perfect English with no trace of an accent. He is dressed in a crisp, finely tailored suit with no military decoration, save for a large pin on his left lapel, a badge of rank. Straight-backed in his chair, he nevertheless appears perfectly at ease, and firmly makes eye contact with the president. "I appreciate your devotion to peace, but tell me, do you believe that this conference can truly resolve the situation? I am of course willing to be reasonable, but I cannot speak for your ally. Many of his people have died on my shores."

Sherman's smile fades a bit, but he holds it intact. "India is a proud nation with its own interests at heart. I cannot ensure anything as of yet, but I do think we can get something done if everybody is ready to make compromises."

 

He folds his hands, placing them under his chin. "Now, I think you're a reasonable ruler, your Majesty. You allow all the people in you territories citizenship, and you have yet to commit war-crimes. However, why the expansionism? The French stand by your side and claim that you are stabilizing the region, which is true in all cases, but one. Australia. Why the need to take Australia? Whatever the case may be, it's too late now to change that matter. I was just wondering if you had anymore expansions planned." He tilts his head a little bit, smiling politically.

The Indochinese Premier walks into the room with several aides at his back. They quickly disperse into the background, mingling and observing as Mihn makes it to the table.

 

In a heavily accentuated English, he would greet the other two world leaders by bowing and proclaiming:

"A thousand blessings to both of you, by Buddhistal's graces we shall achieve peace, yes?"

 

He sits between the two ends of the table, accurately representing his current stance on the war.

King Asrul leans back in his chair and sighs.

"The annexation of Australia was necessary. I hope you'll appreciate that I'd rather not share all the reasons for the decision with a man who publicly supports my enemy, but suffice it to say that it had nothing to do with the actions of the Australian government or people, and they will not be punished for it. As for stability...give it time."

Having dodged the question of further expansion, he makes another comment.

"It has been almost a year since an Indian commercial ship docked in your country, or since one of your ships docked in theirs. I admire the growth you've fostered in your economy, but I have to wonder if it's sustainable without Asia. You have an interest in these proceedings as well, Mr. President, and nothing would make me happier than accomodating the nation of my schooling--provided there's reason to.

At that point the Indochinese premier arrives, and Kapur rises to bow. Sitting back down, it seems the conversation is over, as he asks the premier about his health and such small talk in Vietnamese. This is not the singleminded bull of a nationalist that the news so often depicts. He is a shrewd, pragmatic individual who exudes an aura of confidence, intelligence and reasonability...though even that may be just a facade.
