The Oceanic Imperium

"Two million a day?" Asrul asked his advisers, incredulously. "Surely he knows they're all going to die?" When the men confirmed it, all he could do was shake his head and smile. "Well, if that's where he wants to put his money, I suppose I won't stop him..." Vast amounts of untrained peasants armed with whatever was available...China had tried the tactic before. It didn't turn out well.

As Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau fell firmly into imperial hands, the citizens resisted violently, but this had been expected from the start. That was why the invaders had brought antipersonnel tanks. The unrest in Guangzhou culminates in a huge riot of over a million people, who attempt to storm through Indonesian lines. When tear gas fails to hold back the mob, the antipersonnel tanks open fire. It's a bloodbath, and from that point on it becomes clear that this will be no ordinary war of annexation. The people of China are stubborn to the point of stupidity. For many of them, annihilation will unfortunately be inevitable.

For now, the Chinese had sheer numbers on their side, but little else. The imperium had better weapons, more disciplined soldiers, and most importantly, the initiative. If they chose to sit on their gains, the Chinese would simply stop to the north and wait until they could plan a counterattack, finally pressing an even greater numbers advantage. So as soon as the contingent from the Indochinese border arrives in Guangzhou, the imperial army marches north, two and a half million strong, spearheaded by the might of their far superior armored divisions and carrying with them all the artillery they needed to raze half the country to the ground.

The imperial navy, in response to the movement of Chinese ships, sails north. As soon as the Chinese fleet comes within the 400 mile range of a Hammerhead missile, the battle has already begun. The fleet, composed largely of coastal defense craft, finds itself completely defenseless, as missiles slam into the sides of the larger ships first, and Overlord drones appear in the skies, picking off anything that tries to get away.

In Taiwan, the defenders show great resilience, but are holed up in their bunkers and slowly losing ground. Imperial forces push forward, systematically destroying or clearing bunkers one by one.

The fleet in the south, ((If it actually exists, still debating that)) would have to come within firing distance of Oceanic coastal defenses more than once on the trip down, although these were lighter in the east than in the west. Most of the Australian factories are located in the interior desert of the country, far from danger, although there are some munitions factories along the east coast.It would be possible to get within range of the Darwin shipyard, but to do so would bring the ((possibly nonexistent)) fleet within range of the more substantial coastal defenses on Java.

Recognizing the quickly declining stockpiles of oil, rationing is once more put into effect, and exports stop altogether. In a speech to his countrymen, the emperor announces that the war they had long been waiting for has begun, and that all must once again do their part. Recruitment soars as it is announced that the army is once again actively expanding.

Imperial forces move quickly to secure China's offshore oil platforms in the southeast. As the Imperial fleet moves north to establish naval supremacy, it is hoped that all of China's offshore rigs, which supply a plurality of the country's oil, will eventually be taken.

Republic of India

 

The Islamic Caliphate trying to attack India would be a foolish task. Nearly three quarters of a million Indian troops were in fixed positions they had been building and fortifying for some time. The troops remained entrenched as artillery would pound any advancing IC forces and troops would hold the trenches. 

 

With Indonesia a looming Imperial threat, Devi had no solution to fix it. He sent a message to Indonesia, asking for them to make a reasonable peace offer.  The Indian navy starts patrolling it's own waters, trying to open trade. New routes are sought out, and trade caravans sail closer and closer to antartica. It was inevitable some would stumble on the Indonesian research facility, but would be easily taken and their radios jammed.

 

The French are asked for them to set a deal that would halt the trade embargo, and Devi calls for a joint operation to open up the Suez for trade.

For Greater Germany

Germany easily took Slovakia and Austria in tiny amounts of time, and the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland, instead of submitting to Germany's join-or-die offer, form a coalition called the New Polish Commonwealth, where Poland declares the other two vassal states. It accepts the offer to join METO at the same time.

 

For Sweden

Norway, Denmark, and Iceland jump to the opportunity of joining the new SUNS, but Greenland declares that it will not.

 

For The Oceanic Empire

As Oceanic troops sweep away from the homeland into China, nationalist rebels see their chance. Uprisings begin in Australia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, recently annexed territories. Major riots begin near Australian industry centers, and non-Indonesian workers there stop production. In the homeland, a food shortage has a strong possibility of occuring. Indonesian people, do, however, join the army in large numbers.

 

For France

Islamic citizens of Algeria start to attack French barracks, and while French homeland nationalism is high, Spanish dissent begins to grow. The economy grows and there is a food surplus.

 

For Slavic Union

Finland, Livonia, and Estonia collectively break off, declaring their independence and forming a league of protection to defend themselves from the SU threat. METO is asked for assistance should it turn into war.

 

North Korea

North Korean armies cheer as a nuke is sent from Pyongyang to Seoul and NK troops rush across the border at the South Korean army. Their nuke travels incredibly slowly, however, and if worked out properly at least half the population of Seoul can be evacuated before it hits near the business sector.

 

China

Communist rebels begin movement in the west, and the economy begins to take a turn for the worse. Large amounts of troops are recruited, but only half have prior military experience.

 

GLOBAL EVENTS

Large numbers of elite troops are not as elite as the governments thought, and although military research stays the same, the eliteness of armies is lowered. Months to a year don't generally train hundreds of thousands of elite troops, and each nation with an elite army still has 5-200 thousand elite troops, depending on their army size. Their equipment advantages do give them a huge edge, though.

République Français

 

The French military had expected dissent, however the war would naturally leave a window of opportunity for the conquered territories. The GIGN is sent into Algeria and begins to establish some sort of Inquisition similar to the Spanish "Council of Blood" used in the Netherlands during the Dutch revolt. The GIGN roundup Islamic extremists and execute them in mass. The attacks do large amounts of damage however, and force some Legionnaires to stay back and fight the radicals as a whole. To deal with the Spanish dissent, peacekeepers are sent in and rather than a heavy-handed military occupation, military takes a secondary role as civilian contractors enter the country to improve the crumbling infrastructure of Spain as well promote unity between the Spanish and French people through religion and European solidarity. 

 

The economy is on an upward slope and research continues at a steady pace on several projects both civilian and military. More funding is directed toward CNES, the French Space Program, in order to fund a mission to the Moon sometime after the war with the Caliphate is over. Other METO member states would not be included in this mission as the French desire a specific resource from the Moon which they would want to put to the test before including them. 

 

THE WAR IN TUNISA & LIBYA

 

Using imported oil from Venezuela and the UAA to keep the tanks and aircraft moving, the French Foreign Legion continued its steady advance against the fleeing Caliphate forces. Legionnaires advanced unchallenged under the cover of the Napoleon II artillery piece which shelled out militants long before the main task force would arrive to the area. Rafael fighters and advanced Leclerc tanks help push the technologically inferior Islamists back into Egypt. The French Foreign Legion would not stop until they were at the Suez Canal. 

 

The French Navy continued its bombardment of the Islamic coastline as Marines began a revived coastal invasion of Libya following in the footsteps of the Legionnaires who had pushed so far in already. Tunisian fighters had already been pushed back to a few coastal cities and the Sultanate would be expected to fall within the month as it was cut off and starved of resources. Ruthless and unrestricted killing is encouraged in many of these towns as the rules of engagement are thrown out of the window. 

 

France lifts the embargo it had placed on India and encourages them to push into Pakistan to further divide their zealous forces.

The Socialist Union of Nordic States

United was socialism, strong was the North! Celebrations are held throughout the Union, with large parades held in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Reykjavik. The militaries of the nations dissolve into each other, forming the Nordic Union Armed Forces, or NUAF for short. ((See globalfirepower - Scandinavia except Finland for numbers, and add 20,000 men + 2 destroyers + 3 corvettes))

The NUAF immediately has an expansion programme, recruiting an additional 10,000 regulars. With patriotic fervour high after the Union's formation, and the common enemy of the Caliphate, willing recruits aren't in too much shortage.

Greenland's declination did annoy Karl, however. Though Greenland wasn't a large population centre by any stretch of the imagination, it was resource-rich and the gesture itself made the Union look weak. As such, he dispatches a task force to liberate the people of Greenland from their stubborn government.

This force rallies at Iceland, then sets sail for Nuuk. The Union demands the Greenlandic government surrenders before it results in the loss of good men and women in both sides. ((MOD REQUEST FOR RESPONSE))

Meanwhile, the independence of Finland, Livonia and Estonia did please Karl. Both for the people of those countries, and for the betterment of the Union. Karl invites all three nations to the SUNS, with the promise of protection from both the Union and METO if they accept. ((MOD REQUEST FOR RESPONSE))

Energy was another concern. Most member states of the Union had only a minority of their energy generated by non-renewable sources, except Denmark. A program to replace current fossil fuel-based energy generation and expand renewable generation is put through. They hope that by completion, the Union will have next to no fossil fuel usage, with Sweden, Norway, and Iceland having no reliance, and Denmark being reduced to a 30% reliance on fossil fuels. The benefits will be both environmental and economic; the Caliphate's oil embargo was still in place, and the oil produced by the Union would be valuable to its allies.

To compliment the growth of renewable energy generation, research into more efficient and powerful electric motors begins, potentially for military as well as civilian use. Again, this would drastically help in reducing fossil fuel consumption in the Union.

With the increasing size and range of the METO, the SUNS submits a suggestion to rename it. Karl personally suggests that it is changed to the Grand European Coalition, or GEC for short.

With a great deal of excess oil now being produced by the Union, some is sent to the METO members fighting the Caliphate to help in keeping their militaries running.

A naval force is sent to provide the French forces in North Africa with support, composed as follows:

Egyptian Sons and Daughters of Allah

The Islamic Caliphate had thousands, maybe even millions of men fighting for Allah's will. But even with so many, the infidel's superior troops and technology was prevailing. The Egyptian militaries and other semi-independent states under the IC were the true back bone of the fighting forces. Even so, it may not be enough and Muhammad sought to improve that. Calling upon the Caliphates high prophet, and all the semi-independent nations, Muhammad proposes a joint commission. The first step would be to pool everyone's funds to buy advanced equipment, and start up arms factories in the more modernized nations. The second step would to either have troops go to Egypt for training, or have bands of officers and trainers train up any fresh IC recruits. ((mod needed))

 

ESDA troops took command of the retreating IC forces, since they were in Egypt. With such a vital threat, the reserves are called up and begin activating. The majority of the Egypt army already on the way to the front speed up their pace, halting fleeing IC units and turning them around. The militia receives ESDA officers who know what they're doing, and moral begins to cautiously rise. Assuming defensive positions, the remaining IC forces of around 600,000 and 500,000 trained Egyptian troops. Construction vehicles are commandeered and trenches, bunkers, and artillery holes are built. Static AA platforms from more advanced IC nations are set up, and are able to make a protective screen for the IC troops. Artillery begins to open fire on advancing French elements, as volunteer extremist Islamic troops advance with skill and speed to halt the French for as long as possible.

 

Using their abundant supplies of fuel, armored truck and AFV convoys head out for neighboring IC nations to pick up their troops. They would begin shuttling whatever reinforcements they could to the front. More advanced nations like Egypt, Israel, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia contribute their advanced planes, artillery, and vehicles to the fight. Not as inferior as the French say, a stiffer aerial resistance is put up, and defense missiles from Israel-a speciality of theirs- are bought and set up to protect more ket areas from French shelling. The IC navy retreats and sets to cross the Suez into the Red Sea, detachments of ships making sure the French were stayed off for long enough to make a crossing possible.

Russia

President Ivan was outraged by the 3 nations leaving the Union. The army had to turn away from Poland and Hungary towards the three countries in order to bring them back into the union. A letter is sent to the METO leaders.

"To the METO,

Should you aid the countries leaving the Union, it will be taken as a direct declaration of war. Your countries are weak economically and cannot sustain a prolonged war against the greatest union seen on this earth. Leave this to us.

With that, he sends a small force to train with the AMERICANS to build relations. All supplies are halted being sent to the CALIPHATE in order to show support for the war. Jets and tanks continue to stream out of factories as the union prepares for war.

The Socialist Union of Nordic States

The Union sends an open message to the SLAVIC UNION:

"We have no desire for war with your proud and prosperous people. We understand your reasoning for wanting to prevent METO intervention, however we want you to understand that these countries will only continue to rise against your government no matter what you do. To take them back by force would only exacerbate the situation. And that's if you can, I'm sure you remember the last time the Russians invaded Finland.

This is why we propose this: allow the people to hold a vote regarding the future of their own country. 3 votes, METO and SUNS membership, Slavic Union membership, or their own independence. We will understand if you decline for Livonia and for Estonia, but we must insist that this happens in the case of Finland, for both your sake and for theirs.

Meanwhile in North Africa, the Swedish force moves further east than the French and begins shelling the Islamic forces from the rear, specifically targeting their supply depots and lines, hoping to greatly reduce how many vehicles and men they can afford to keep active. A small force of specialist soldiers land a few miles behind enemy lines and lay mines on supply convoy routes, before returning to the ships. They ensure they note the locations of the mines for future reference.

Indochinese Democratic Republic

 

So, the Chinese thought they could attack the motherland? Finally, a good chance to test the military in an actual conflict. The four armored columns stationed in the north advance quickly, taking small territorial possessions in southern mainland China. The troops stop and lightly fortify the front lines, but it would appear heavier work occurs in the rear. The classes of 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031 are mobilized and armed ((1 page)). A surprise would await the slow moving and low mechanized Chinese peasants. 

 

 

The exportation of food grinds down gradually so as to combat possible starvation at home. Some 45,000 unemployed migrants are drafted to work in both arm foundries and collective government owned farms. 

 

 

Somewhere off the coast of Burma...

 

A small delegation surrounded the Premier as he sat on a beach, binoculars in hand. They are all observing a middle size destroyer, who would seem to be deploying anti-submarine depth charges. After a minute, a small explosion rocks the area, some fishermen falling of their small vessels. "All clear, ballasts not deployed. By Buddhistal, it works!" exclaims a surprised voice. "Proceed to test two then, Captain." replies an Admiral next to Premier Mihn,and after the Destroyer leave the area; another, larger, explosion occurs, shaking some of the palms near where the delegation happened to sit."Come in, TX-1. I repeat, come in TX-1". An awfully long period follows without a response, but finally "All clear, ballasts still not deployed and the outer shelling isn't even pierced". Mihn stands quietly, a smile across his face. The project had been a success, and had managed to be kept quiet. Shake the World was a success. 

 

 

 

The Confederacy asks that some officers be attached to METO forces so as to observe the ongoing conflict in Africa. 

 

Funding is poured into a new type of rocket system, mostly an upgrade of the existing missile transport vehicles.

After Governor Robert Pierce's socialist/authoritarian-esque regime from the Canadian West was voted into power back in 2027 at a time when the Constitution of Canada was collapsing and Canada was gaining a new national order of autonomy along with all the other former British dominions, it allowed him to reshape the country in a way that revolutionized its place in the world while also managing to keep their overall image of law-abiding peace-keeping countrymen, Canada stepped out of the shadow of many Great Powers, including the United States of America and the United Kingdom, which gave the Canadians and their now Union-dominant government way to follow their own agenda. His reforms swept across the nation and while at first met with outrage, the following years have had an enlightened weight on his government. Remaining relatively quiet until now, it is now Canada's time to rise up and take its spot as a Great Power among squabbling, warring nations. 

 

 

"Mr. Governor, tensions have been rising in the Middle-East. It would be imperative for us to seek better relations with the United States of America and Russia. Our lands are at stake. Russia has claims to our lands in British Columbia - and Alaska in America. If war were to come to North America, our people would suffer and it would not be in the interests of any of us. A treaty is underway." The Chancellor of Canada stated in a meeting with Governor Pierce about the current foreign affairs.

 

"You're right. Prepare a transcription. Write it as followed, Gregory. Russia first. 'To President Ivan, it is in my hope that Canada and Russia can come to an agreement of no aggression, period. War would not be in our best interests. In order to quell any doubts of my intentions my Chancellor is offering a trade agreement & as discussed, depending on your decision, a no aggression pact. Thank you, and I hope that we can arrange a meeting in due time to further discuss these affairs', sincerely, Governor Pierce of the People's Dominion of Canada." Pierce says after a few short pauses to think and evaluate, then nodding to the Chancellor as business went forward.

 

 

 

 

 

With the global recession in food stocks, this was a big issue in Canada which had never occurred before. A stroll through the capital of Ottawa City saw you looking at hundreds of homeless men and women - starving homeless men and women. Donations were made and new facilities established in already existing buildings to accommodate for the weak and the homeless, however not much else can be done and so foreign policy dictates Canada goes to its closest ally; the United States of America.

 

"Send it as is, Gregory," Pierce said as he cleared his throat thinking for a moment, "To President Sherman of the United States of America. Governor Pierce sends his regards in these hard times as food has become scarce among the lower classes of our communities. Trade is no longer as secure as it once was, and our relations in the past years have only deteriorated," Governor Pierce explained in the transcript.

 

"It is imperative that we, as historical friends & allies, sharing the longest conflict-free border in the world, conjoin once again as allies and partners in global economics, and so my government is offering a trade agreement with the main product being canned food among other important aspects of our field, and a defensive alliance to ensure North America remains free, strong and glorious!"

 

 

 

Internal affairs are not without tension as well. With biased opinions from the government of Canada being relayed on the West with the East being neglected in almost every manner. Citizens of Canada living in the East are rapidly moving to the West as talk of huge minimum wages and payment fly rampant across the country. They want to get rich and who can blame them? The same thing happened between 2013 and 2015, though these rumors were quickly crushed as those who went returned with no money at all.

 

But this was different. These rising wages were in retrospect of Pierce's new policies and Socialist-esque ideas that brought Unions back, and oh, were Unions very popular in the Canadian Prairies now-a-days. There is even talk of Americans moving to Canada, specifically the Prairies for the money, and this has bolstered Canada's population, allowing the territories of Yukon and Northwest to become full-fledged Provinces with a steady population and workforce run by local Unions who were managed by Mayors and Intendants. Things were looking mighty fine for Canada's economic future, but the recession goes on.

 

Aboriginal communities have all been assimilated into normal communities, the years gone bye as even Anglo-phones and Franco-phones assimilate into what is the only culture found in Canada now - true Canadian, born free and strong, blessed by God. French is still a secondary language in Canada however Pierce is currently working to remove its overall importance in Schools, Colleges and Universities even in Quebec. With no formal competition from the Bloc de Quebecois, these reforms will easily go through.

 

Military spending is currently at 80%, Bureaucratic spending is at 60% and Education has been lowered to 70% from 100%. Taxes are higher than usual but Pierce is also trying to rectify this with more expensive Tariffs on imported goods so that taxes can be enlightened.

The Oceanic Imperium

 

 

The Indians were finally suing for peace, but Emperor Asrul had no more wish to humiliate them. Times had changed, and thanks to the Indonesian Media Committee, his people looked down on most of the world equally now. There was no more need to cultivate hatred for India, so he offered his enemy a peace that, while still a clear victory for Oceania, would not cripple the subcontinent.

"We will agree to a truce and lift the blockade, on the condition that the Imperium be granted several coastal enclaves in your country, the largest being the province of Goa. The other major enclaves will be the cities of Mumbai and Kandla on your west coast, and the Imperium is to be granted permission to establish a naval base on uninhabited coastline on the south end of Sri Lanka."

 

 

Admiral Wulandari stands on the bride of the Retribution, the sea in front of him calm and empty. The fleet had sailed to Taiwan too provide support for the advancing forces there, and the operation has gone well. With long range naval support, Chinese entrenchments are easily destroyed, and the imperial army is able to finally secure the northern tip of the island. Leaving behind the standard occupation force, they have now boarded ships and set sail for the mainland, where the main group awaits them.

 

For the advancing imperial troops on land, the next major objective was Shanghai, and in their path stood two million Chinese soldiers, led by none other than General Ng. It was a fantastic opportunity. Here, the Chinese leader had not only divided his forces, but thrown himself headfirst into the line of fire. While remaining cautious of the second Chinese army group, which could be a potential flanking threat if they changed course, imperial forces march north, and engage General Ng in the northern part of Fujian province.

 

It is beautiful country, and it almost seems a waste to ruin it with war, but it must be done. The Indonesian artillery opens fire, and the Chinese army is forced to advance under a hail of missiles. Soon after, the air force, having arrived in the newly captured airfields of Southern China, begins bombing runs on the mostly-infantry Chinese forces. The primary method is cluster bombing, which is devastating and kills everything under the squadrons:

 

Such attacks are also carried out on the second Chinese army as it moves south. Before the two armies even meet, the losses on the Chinese side would be catastrophic. Finally, the real battle begins as imperial forces meet Chinese. The many rivers of Fujian pose no challenge to the amphibious Tsunami tanks, and this leads to some surprises for the Chinese as tanks appear in places that they have no business being, clearing the way for advancing imperial infantry. Kiamat tanks are slightly more restricted in their movement, but once they arrive on a scene, the battle there is won.

 

The moment the news of uprisings in the occupied territories came in, the government acted. This was one of the things the badai troopers had been trained to do, and currently none of them were engaged in China. The badai corps were in fact truly elite: they only numbered 120,000 men, divided into three divisions. Martial law is declared in all affected territories, and the emperor's finest sweep in to eliminate resistance professionally and efficiently. Australia is the most important: although human laborers had been reduced with the advent of drone automation, there were still a large number of enemies of the state in the desert production zones. When a large shipment of Overlord drones is destroyed en route to Darwin, Australia becomes the first area to face neutralization. With relatively few places to hide, the rebels are quickly located and gunned down...or worse, captured and sent south for classified reasons.

 

Malaysia stands little chance. The Badai troopers are not even deployed here, for Borneo was a large center for military training, and the pathetic uprising became an opportunity for target practice. Due to the recent spike in recruitment, the rebels are vastly outnumbered, and with the assistance of trained soldiers, recruits learn from experience how to hunt down enemies in the jungle. Losses on the army side are obviously greater than if they had gone through standard training, but when these men do graduate, they are far more experienced than usual recruits.

 

In the Phillipines, response is slower, and the uprising gains a foothold on Mindanao. Badai troopers are dispatched and an operation to secure the southern island is expected soon.

 

The looming food shortage threatens all the countries in the Imperium. Fishing businesses are encouraged to double their efforts, but it remains to be seen how bad the famine will be. Excess food from the newly conquered areas of China is transported and sold back home to ease the burden.

 

One million recently-graduated soldiers load onto transports and set sail north to reinforce the imperial army there.

The New Empire of China

 

 

General Ng watched the Indonesian armies slowly move forward. His second army was set to turn and attempt a flank, but they would arrive late, and the possibility of him holding out was thin. Chinese citizens begin mass evacuation of cities, flocking to Japan, the two Koreas, Russia, and the Islamic Caliphate. Chinese citizens in Southern China begin to pack up and move to India as well, not wanting to work under the leadership of a foreign invader like their ancestors had generations ago. Of the two million he had in his current force, a quarter were wiped out before they engaged. His normally calm demeanor is wiped off his face as he directs his armies. Each squad had been equipped with an RPG, but he hadn't expected hundreds upon hundreds of tanks. His regiments that he had left north began to burn the countryside farms as the population left China. Behind him would only be ruins for the Oceanic Imperium, and he knew that there was no other option than what he would do.

 

"My people, Zhongguo Ren, I never thought the day would come when I had to use it. I had thought that allies were honorable in our world, and that we would be able to keep peace after reunification. I was obviously wrong. Leave, my friends, and don't look back. Our enemies have bested us today, but the Chinese people will never fade. One day return, and bring the wrath of China upon this false empire."

 

Across China, silos open up and begin launching nukes at all major cities in Indonesia and Indochina, numbering 200 in total. 39 other nukes launch at Chinese cities as soon as they empty, leaving China a wasteland. As the orders go out, the Chinese army commits into a death charge in an attempt to break the Indonesian advance, with General Ng right in the middle. As the armies engage, General Ng falls but the Chinese begin to do anything to hurt the Indonesians, from shooting rockets at infantry to jumping on tanks and blowing themselves up. The general had bred a zealous if weak army, and the troops had worshipped him as the next possible Emperor. Now they would go to the next life with him. The final Chinese nuke is launched at the two engaged armies.

The Oceanic Imperium

 

 

 

THUMP.

That was all Asrul heard from his bunker, deep below the Imperial Palace, as the missile struck above. From there, there was nothing but static on the radio for the next few hours...and then finally, the phone rang.

"Your majesty, this is central command. You'll need to get here quick."

Central command's bunker was three miles east. The tunnel connecting it to the palace bunker had collapsed in the attack, and it took several hours of tunneling to get through, but eventually the emperor was there, where large screens showed the situation. And it wasn't good.

"I want a full report, general. What's the status?"

"It could be better. Seems the Chinese couldn't take the heat and decided to blow themselves and us to hell." He clicks a button, and a simulation runs on screen showing the attack. "Our defense systems took out what they could, but enough missiles got through to do the job they wanted. Initial estimates are saying at least 60 million people dead from the blasts alone. You may have figured it out already, but Jakarta's one of the cities that got hit."

"And the Chinese?"

"Seems like a lot of them had warning to get out of the major cities, but initial reports say a large part of the country's a wasteland. Most of the invasion force got wiped out, or so we assume. No reports."

"What about the fleet?"

"Unharmed, sir. Actually that's one of the few blessings in this situation. We've got 500,000 men on that fleet with another million headed north. Also, they didn't even try to attack Australia. Militarily, we're pretty well off."

"Land those troops immediately. I want China firmly secured, and I want all the badai troopers we can spare here on the islands. There's going to be chaos. People are going to need a strong administration, now more than ever. I expect a full damage report in the next few days once contact is restored with all parts of the empire."

 

Asrul had worked all his life for what he had, and he was damned if he was going to stop now. With the urban center of Jakarta destroyed, the imperial government is reestablished in Singapore, which had miraculously survived untouched, as soon as possible. Citizens of the empire are evacuated from the most radioactive areas as quickly as possible, and many of them are soon relocated to Australia, where new settlements are quickly erected to house them. With the imperial legislature gone, martial law is officially implemented empire-wide. Radiation and famine are a major concern, to be dealt with in the months to come.

 

The army units from the Taiwanese campaign arrive in Guangzhou and set up military headquarters. China, now in chaos, is publicly declared Oceanic territory to the world, as contingents are sent out across the country to assess the situation and set up administration over what remains of the population. It is announced that any country that harbors Chinese refugees is to be considered an enemy of the Imperium. Any Chinese nationals found attempting to emmigrate are to be shipped to the imperial government.

People's Dominion of Canada

 

 

The situation in China would have been considered a global crisis in the days of the United Nations. But the United Nations is no more. However, its ideals are still strongly supported in the People's Dominion of Canada. It was expected for the Chinese refugees to come to Canada, with its long history of accepting immigrants torn by war and strife, such as the Syrians back in the years of 2014 through 2016.

 

Airports were littered with refugees pouring in and it was Canada's humanitarian duty to allow them inside their borders. But what duty was that, truly, with no order to ensure it was even followed? Governor Pierce understood this - and he understood the declaration from the Imperium. He knew no one could speak against his decision to deny them entry, but if no others could act civilized in a world above the days of the Middle Ages, then it was Canada's place to do so. Governor Pierce would allow the Chinese to enter Canadian lands. And they would be given civil rights.

 

"Let it be known to all," Pierce stated in a press conference, live to all in the world so long as the channel was not banned, "Canada is home to all who would work hard to build a future for our youth, our old and our glorious nation - I will not allow our world to be plunged back into the days of the Middle Ages; we are not barbarians, and we will never be barbarians. All refugees from Canada have been allowed into our lands, and if they so please, the right to citizenship through a series of evaluations," He continued, challenging the Imperium's warning.

 

Afterwards, a transcript was sent to the Imperial desk from the Canadian Embassy, detailing their reasoning and condolences.

 

"To the Emperor and his intendants, we, the Canadian Government, give our condolences for going behind your back in these petty affairs," the transcript went on, "But it is our God given right as human beings to be kind and open to the innocent; do not fret, however, as we will be fully cooperative in handing over any Chinese officials who, in your jurisdiction, are charged with crimes or are of high ranking and due for prosecution - we simply feel that the people are not responsible for their leader's actions and are thus liable for a new life in our country, thank you," the transcript ended with an abrupt beep.

 

With business tended to and the tension elevated for now, already two hundred and counting Chinese refugees are undergoing the process of re-settling in the People's Dominion of Canada, with more to come as Governor Pierce mobilizes his workforce to ensure a safe and efficient transaction.

 

The construction of two aircraft carriers of the HMS Queen Elizabeth model are also underway as plans are made to expand Canada's navy, with new reforms to follow in retrospect of Canada's army reforms, with plans made to improve equipment, field care and safety regulations while on peacekeeping missions. The estimated budget for the entire project is said to be $85 Billion, which is a hefty cut on Canada's risky economy these days, and without the interest of investors due to the Socialist ideas of Pierce's regime, it will be a tough but well-earned process in a leap for the better of Canada in its ambition for a larger spotlight.

With the severe lack of SPGs, construction was also made on five new prototypes to ensure a steady run, with help from American investors. The prototypes would be called the Leopard C3. This is estimated to take up to two or three years until major production of the either unsuccessful or successful prototypes can follow.

Indochinese Democratic Republic

 

The early detection radars and defense systems had only been able to save some of the people in the urban centers. Ever since the Sino-Vietnamese war, the entire peninsula had been laced with underground family shelters, but that was mostly in the countryside. Over 37% of the urban population was killed as compared to only 12% in the rural counties, where most of the agriculture and industry had taken root. Still, it was a national tragedy and millions of citizens had been eliminated in less than an hour. The reserves who had been mobilized are not rushed to the front, but distributed across the largest stricken areas and help evacuate the remaining population to quickly constructed shantytowns, a temporary situation.  ((2 pages before relocated))

 

 

The largest irony of the whole thing was that the front-lien troops had barely even been harmed. They were heavily fortified before the attack, and most of the front had been entirely missed by the missiles which struck at cities instead. Put inside radioactive resistant hazmats and boarded onto Mihnz and BTR-80's, the push north. Some 3,000,000 refugees are stopped by the army as well as elements of two divisions which surrender en masse.

 

 

The remaining parts of government are relocated to Singapore, where they set up an emergency session.
