With the defiant tide of the Silver State of Haelun’or and the effrontery of all Elvenkind, the time for definitive action has been called. The Orenic sphere of influence must be extended to encompass this obstinate race, and its people must be quelled and tempered by the hand of Humanity.

The assurance of a stable and serene southern border is paramount in the agenda of the Kingdom of Oren, and so for the sake of prosperity within, the following desire has been expressed to the City of Ker’nor.

This document, known henceforth as the Sable Binding, will absorb the independent City of Ker’nor under the dominion of the Kingdom of Oren. It will act as a subsidiary client state under the will of the Kingdom and abide by the following stipulations:

  1. The complete recognition that the former City of Ker’nor is henceforth a client state of the Kingdom of Oren, known as the Ancillary of Ker’nor.

  2. The former City of Ker’nor abdicating its independence and officially absorbing itself into the Kingdom of Oren as a province.

  3. The agreement to recognize the King of Oren as the supreme matter of authority within the Ancillary of Ker’nor.

  4. The agreement to abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Oren, and hold no exceptions or province-specific laws without approval from the Lord Justiciar.

  5. The agreement to make no foreign agreements, pacts, alliances or otherwise without the express consent from the King of Oren.

  6. The complete destruction of any false religious icons, temples or otherwise that praise anything other than the Creator. Furthermore, the worship of Malin is hereby forbidden.

  7. The agreement to suppress any and all publications that may incite contempt within the Kingdom of Oren.

  8. The agreement to expel any persons declared as fugitives within the Ancillary of Ker’nor or any of its affiliate subsidiaries.

The Kingdom of Oren, as the protector of Ker’nor, will hereby agree to the following:

  1. To protect the Ancillary of Ker’nor from any internal or external threat that is also deemed a threat by the Kingdom of Oren.

  2. To ensure the stability and relative peace of the Ancillary by whatever means necessary.

  3. To ensure the survival and growth of the Dark Elven race.

  4. To defend the rights of loyal Elven subjects that live under the laws of the Kingdom of Oren.

  5. To appoint an Archon approved by the King to act as the regional subordinate of the Kingdom.

The obligations and promises stated in this document will be upheld indefinitely; any violation in obligation will cause an immediate termination in the treaty, and all its former obligations becoming null and void.

The following signatories hereby render this treaty agreeable and bind their respective nations under its terms:

The Kingdom of Oren

King Olivier de Savoie

Lord Chancellor Guy de Bar

The Ancillary of Ker’nor

Dak’ir Des’nox

Demagol upon hearing word of this, sighs deeply, writing on his schedule "Shorten visits to Ker'nor to an absolute minimum."

He pulls his hair back, obviously stressed, glancing at his forge, and standing beginning to forge once more.

As Marchisio di Benedetti was in his study, inspecting the daily output of coal from the mines of his nation of Tripliani, a courier who was seemingly out of breath rushed in. Without even looking up, the patrician-lord would utter in an annoyed tone in his native Illatian tongue, “I do hope that this is something /important/, Dino. I do hate it when you barge in..” “My greatest apologies, Signore Patrizio, but I possess concerning news regarding the Elven States and Oren!” Marchisio would look up at this, now mildly intrigued. “Well, do get on with it then.” As the courier read the “Bindings”, as they were called, Marchisio wonders how the Elven states are taking this, as well as how this affects his nation, and all he has worked to be.

Kaelin, after looking over the Emerald announcement, finds one concerning Ker'nor. He spares a thought for those he knows in the cave settlement.

"It seems the Archons' ancestor cult is done for if Dak'ir can't convince the Valah of the difference between 'worship' and 'reverence'... mind you, I've never been too clear on the boundary between the two when it comes to the new Mali'ker."

"Worry not. It has already been discussed and the humans will give us no trouble for our veneration of the Ancestors."

"It was either this and things be resolved peacefully and civilly with cooperation. Or them batter our gates down and take over forcefully. They will not be bothering us in our day to day lives."

A male dark elf with medium-length violet hair and experienced magenta eyes frowns at the posting, shaking his head and adjusting the axe currently resting on his shoulder, chips of wood from the dead trees he's been removing from the forest to assist the growth of the plants below scattered throughout his messy mop. His clothing, soft black cloth with silver accents, clings to his sinuous form tightly as he sighs, shaking his head.

"My master would have thrown a fit had he been there to witness the signing of our people's freedom over to the Valah. How far have the Mali'ker fallen that we must cower before tyrants when our eldest warriors would have marched on without hesitance to protect our honor? How weak can our leaders be that they will simply submit before these dogs?" He closes his eyes, turning to depart from the city.

"It is a sad day when our leader would rather allow a young race such as the Valah to control the ancient race that we are. We, who can outlive ten generations of Valah. Perhaps if the Mali could realize we are all one collection of elves rather than being split amongst ourselves, we would not have to tremble before humans."

"Valah are rodents, yet an endless horde of festering broodlings. Honor does dictate we act with recourse, yet the price of defending our honor would lead to death against the swarm of pale-valah. Honor is only worth death in some scenarios, this is not one of them..

Our knees are only bent by our own, they are no true masters. They know and we know this, it's self-evident. That is why they do not dwell withing our home, do not bother to take what is value, do not bother to see us bend a knee. Yet they offer us no death, and in return we shall work for the empire to make it strong, not impede progression with rebellion. This cooperation, hardly servitude. I've seen many empires fall, and this one shall too.  One day we shall not answer to lessers, have patience young elf

"Oh please, the elven kind is the living joke of the world when it comes to military power, combined we still don't have enough as a single Orenian army, fighting the 'valah' is just a blatantly stupid idea. And it would be nice if the elves could unite, truly, but there's always some insolent mongrel who feels the need to fight the power and demand independence. Oh if only the elves would be more open to oligarchies..." Says an annoyed Mithius.
