Hey guys, birdnerdy again.

 

This is another question in my personal mini-series on LOTC's military history. Being a fairly new player (I joined in September last year) I didn't get to see the "Golden Age" of military roleplay. I've been heavily involved in the current military roleplay of the server, and in doing so, I'm often subjected to long rants about the "good old days." Thus, I've got a lot of questions about the history of good military roleplay on the server, what made it work, and what we can do to bring it back.

  Who, in your opinion, was the most effective military leader LOTC has encountered, out of character, and in character? What made them such a good leader in roleplay, and out of character? What group did they lead? And where are they now?

i'll echo "steven" once more and add on that it wasn't just because he was an ******* and yelled (though that did have an impact on it), steven literally demanded your attention and focus. he was gratifying when he needed to be and did in fact point out when the White Roses did things right during drills and battles, but he was also harsh and blunt when it was necessary too. steven's also a great RPer and made himself a role model in character and out of character.

Vulcus and Temp! Their signature "stationary line formation" was so effective that foes would flee before combat even began, thus rendering them effective every time. Some claim that the Raevir did all the fighting for them while they were lined up watching the battles, but this is clearly a Raevir propaganda lie purported by Olivier de Savoie himself.

Steven/Tom. I've been in plenty battles with plenty commanders and nothing changes the game like when Steven/Tom enter. You just get inspired to fight and "**** THEM UP". Vulcus deserves a good mention too. All of these guys had that same mentality that drove you to victory.

vulcus wasnt that great at commanding in general except for just yelling he was great at rallying and all that tom and steven were also good and yh emma vladov won the schism war no doubt w/o her it was a sure loss, not easy commanding splitt and scarce cannonist states against the entire world.
