Pandan brought an idea to me that will hopefully appease the peeps.

It's no longer about fueling your body with mana. Rather it's about the 

capability of arcane energy itself. The caster summons the energy and

the energy builds until it cannot build anymore and causes a reaction;

Where the caster is displaced and regain physical form after the energy 

is depleted. A bit scientific but hopefully it is satisfactory.

 

Pandan also said it is like flinging an electron around.

 

A big person sized electron.

Good question. To be honest I would like some LMs to help decide. Since this magic only offers one spell the spell shouldn't be too costly but should also not be spammable infinitely. I think a good cap for a caster who shifts at rapid-fire is like 10. And if they are only shifting every now and again they can do a few more. But this is definitely something that would be found out in a trial run of the magic. It's hard to tell how it will balance itself out until you test it in combat and are comfortable RPing it.
