A New Map?

  1. 1. Would you be interested in a new map, to fix our current larger issues?

To be honest, I don't think I take any of your opinions seriously either, seeing how ridiculously fickle you people can be and you all seem to only choose what's best for themselves and not for this server.

Everytime we get a map change, this happens. And we end up in a vicious endless cycle.

So go ahead and make your server worse, see if I care. :)

I feel like you're the type of person that would care the most actually, if this server were to go bad. Sometimes I feel like you should take a break, instead of complaining and whining and crying all the time on the forums. But hey, enough about you. Of course, if you want to continue, feel free to send me a PM on the forums!

A big map would definitely be nice with fast travel to the capitals. This would mostly keep roleplay within the capitals, and keep random towns to a minimal. Nation leaders should also be able to allot plots accordingly as they see fit, so as to keep the RP centralized and not have small towns and forts popping up in the middle of nowhere.

Why on earth would we make the map bigger? That doesn't centralize RP whatsoever, the main problem people have been having on this map

If anything, make the map smaller. Have a giant eventline that gets rid of all those isolated nexus plots and settlements out in the middle of nowhere. Turn it into a netherish wasteland, and make them have reason to return to their main cities. Refugees, both lord and peasant, forced to live in Petrus. High elves being kicked off their lore-finnicky plateau, or the rest of the elves being forced to join them again. Burn the Ascended island. Just get rid of anything more than half a kilometer from Central Athera.

Central Athera is a perfect size. Just trim it. We don't need another map, and, heavens, not a BIGGER one.

If you make the map smaller, you would be able to sneeze on Oren from the cloud temple.

  1. I believe the map we need, needs to be large, with fast travels to major locations, E.I. actually road intersections, not cities themselves.
  2. And have a restrictive, but beautification to the map when released.
  3. It should say have farms and farms alone in an open field, nothing else could be built there, simply to keep the beauty of it.
  4. Other places we could simply leave empty to keep beauty and give space for large events and battles to take place without people screaming, "MY BLOCKS!".
  5. We could also have the Cloud Temple 'sponsor' a large market area, not these random shops everywhere that looks rather disgusting in some places.
  6. Nation Leaders would be in charge of these small places and where they are in their nation region, (Number 3)
  7. A large amount of ruins that are very well constructed and numerous, but in well placed areas, not just spamming them everywhere.
  8. Place all lore related ruins/builds first, to make sure they get the good locations for their events.
  9. Have Fast Travels cost money, but not much, say 5 mina?
  10. Ask large guilds such as the Druids/Overall Clerics, what area they would like to have a small camp setup, (Tents only and a region).
  11. Ask the Nation Leaders what locations they would like for their nations to be focused on, (from there you set their nation boundaries for Numbers 3 & 6. They could have a storage building, a mine, and a lumber stead prebuilt at each capital and many tents setup in the main area.
  12. Reserve some areas for possible future event sites, I.E. areas that have restrictions on what can be built or simply set the region as: "ET Region" to make it clear.
  13. Set animal spawning to certain regions, large fields/forests.
  14. Create natural beauty places that cannot be built on with anything major, a manor or anything, a tent maybe at the largest. This is to keep beauty on the map and not let it get ruined with the billion mini-forts that took over Athera and other maps.
  15. Create set Lumber steads and mines across the map that are all free for anyone to use, (Nations cannot overtake them.)
  16. Allow players large freebuild areas in some places, but do not let them be confused with Number 3. (These places be monitored for buildings that do not fit in with the region or, if there is one, a major build style in the freebuild zone, as it deducts from the overall beauty.
  17. Allow a 'No Mans' Land' far from spawn, but with a Fast Travel where a mine and lumber stead shall be located, here the entirety of the place is free-game, except the mine and lumber stead buildings, for anyone as long as rules are not broken.
  18. Allow Nation Leaders to have limited beginning storage that they can use to begin early construction of their cities and to set positions for certain things and layouts.
  19. Remove these pillars, they have only made people greedy.
  20. Re-Add the God's Men village near the Cloud Temple. :)

These are all I can think of at the moment, its 12:41 AM.

Create a big map with very little passable (freebuild) territory, and link the wilds and the nation capitals/travel hubs with fast travels. Nation land should be the prime source of farmland and contain most of LoTC's role-play, but there should be a little bit of land for new things to develop.

Other places we could simply leave empty to keep beauty and give space for large events and battles to take place without people screaming, "MY BLOCKS!".

If you follow all of Kauns suggestions then im pretty sure you'd have an amazing map. About the farms, something like this perhaps.

Also I believe if you should put things like bushes around the map with signs describing whats on them, it will sure improve rp. And perhaps you could even create tons of mc block animals that people can kill with ets help, perhaps in fields you could place yellow and brown wool in tall grass with a sign saying something like *A rattle-snake slithers through the grass*.

We only lost Asulon tho cuz the map save deleted

Do you not remember how many people left the server because they hated Asulon so much? Dozens of people I knew in Aegis left in the first few months. And every few months we'd have a leaving drama where tons of players would leave at once. It was like a mini-exodus every couple of months.

Everyone complained about how big it was and how permed it was. Now we've done a 360 and everyone wants a big map with perms everywhere.

We need a map larger than Athera but making a giant map isn't going to fix all the server's problems. It'll just change what we complain about.

If we do get a new map which isn't a temp one, we should be able to bring our items over so that the resources in the new map don't get drained within the first week of it due to people wanting to become rich. Perhaps we can only take a double chest of items withus into the new map which would make it fair. However, bringing something like iron and diamond blocks shouldn't be allowed. These chests should only have resources like food, building items, and perhaps chain/ iron armour in it so we have something to start of with when we join the game.

And this time, I recommend getting decent builders.

For each nation, we should have seperate builders who will post their idea of the design of our capitals. The people of the nation can have input of it, like Senda did. No one really likes the look of Petrus anymore so maybe take several screenshots of the capital instead of just the house idea, this way the people who are going to live in it will be able to see if it suits the majority or not. Also as its coming up to the Summer, more people will come back, this gives the staff a chance to get some decent builders to help them.

A big new map with custom terrains, and as much prebuilt as possible.

So much this. This community has a huge habit of not making up their minds when they get what they want. It's pathetic. If they just stop and realize that this isn't about them, they probably won't be so fickle.

Your point is,  about 77 people think that we need a large map. That says something. When over a 100 wanted VA's gone they were, how is now any different. The community want a large map because thats what they want. If they change their mind mid-map then thats their opinion and eventually we get a new map, its not that much of a problem. Literally everybody hates the size of this map and thinks we should have a large map. I don't see how a large map is bad. If we have large fields, farms, mountain ranges, herds of animals and such with divided areas and far apart cities. Then it would add to the rp in my opinion. People can rp hunting, traveling across the road. I personal think big maps are better as do the 77 other players.

Just because everyone and their cats wants a new map does not mean that's what's best for them and for the rest of the server. If 77 people wanted an AK47 and 2 pounds of krocodil would you give it to them?

Stop acting like this community is somehow entitled to every little thing they demand.

TBF i only quit asulon cus getting food was a *****. Large map means more food production. Maybe have berry bushes and stuff with treasure chests that hold the food in them so people can forage for food as well?

Just because over a 100 people wanted VA's gone doesnt mean its the best for them. And no i would not because that makes no sense, a new big map does make sense. This is what the community wants.
