Practitioners of the Arcane! Test your strength and skill against other Magi by joining Chateau Arcana. Prove your worth by dueling other mages, work your way up to the top of the ranks of Chateau Champion, revered as the strongest and most skilled in their arcane arts.

All magical users and beings are welcome to join. All magic is treated as a stepping stone to true greatness, a tool to advance our knowledge, and a mystery that craves to be solved. All magic is sacred.

We are also hiring Judges, Guards, and will later on hire taverns people. Salary will later be determined.

A quick overview of each position:

Guards - Your responsibility is to enforce the rules of the Chateau in anyway you see fit. Your job is to keep the peace and protect each member from troublemakers. Report all suspicious actions and persons to the president of the Chateau.

Judges - Your responsibility is similar of that of the guards. Your job is to oversee each duel and keep record of them. You have the responsibility of making sure all rules of the matches are strictly followed and make judgements based on the situation at hand. You must also report all matches to the president as well as their outcomes. An adequate knowledge of magic is required for consideration in this position.

There will be IC Rules that is in the works, but here are some OOC rules for competing in Chateau Arcana. IC Regulations will be given upon acceptance into the Chateau.

OOC Rules:

1.) Powergaming in RP duels will not be tolerated and will be enforced with disciplinary action, including disqualification from the duel and temporary and permanent suspension from Chateau Arcana. We reserve the right to forward any evidence of powergaming to a staff member or MAT member. We are all here to have fun, so we ask that you try to be fair to other players.
2.) OOC Bickering and spamming is not tolerated and may result in one or both combatants disqualified from their current matches or removal from the facilities. Keep your communication in tells, and minimize L-OOC.
3.) Judges reserve the right to halt RP duels and request switching to mechanics battles in the event that neither combatant can come to a civil resolution. Combatants must consent to the judge’s request or face disqualification.
4.) All mechanics combat in the facility must be done with only an unenchanted wooden axe or a stone sword. If you have none in your possession, then it may be provided to you. Armor is not permitted under any circumstances. Use of unauthorized gear may result in disqualification.
5.) We reserve the right to remove any players from the facility for any reason, regardless of IC or OOC reasons. While this is meant to be a last resort, we expect all players to behave themselves, and not cause problems. All members are expected to behave ICly and OOCly, and provide interesting, fun and quality RP. This means put some effort into your roleplay, and be fair and courteous to other players.

Here's a brief overview of our current ranks(More information will be provided at the interview.)

 

The Baron(ess)

 

The Baron(ess) title is considered the lowest nobility rank and will have full access to nobility activities with the exception of designated higher ranking activities. The Baron(ess) can ascend to the Viscount(ess) rank by achieving 3 victories or participating in 15 matches against members of equal or higher ranking.

 

Duke/Duchess

This is a special ranking that can only have up to 5 members, and unless spots are filled, this can be achieved normally through 5 victories or 25 total matches. This rank is one that must be defended. In order to acheive this ranking, the Lord and Lady must challenge the current Duke/Duchess to a duel for the title and defeat him or her. If the current Duke/Duchess is defeated in battle, then he or she will descend to the rank of Lord/Lady.

Only the Duke/Duchess may challenge the higher rank, Grand Prince(ss) to a duel for the title. There are only 3 spots available for these ranks, and unless they are filled, they only need to achieve 5 victories or participate in 15 matches against members of equal, higher or one rank lower.

 

The Grand Champion

The Grand Champion can only be challenged by the Prince or Princess. This is a special title that only one member can have and once one has ascended to the the highest ranking in the Chateau, he will receive a golden crown, special mentions, and a spot in the hall of fame. In order to achieve this spot, unless the title is claimed, is to defeat every Prince or Princess ranked member.
