Royal Response To The Adrian Rebellion

Tidings, kinsmen, knights, and Orenian brethen near and far.  The Crown receives you and knows of your good deeds.

The Crown also knows of the great dissent now engulfing the East. There gathers a host of bloodlusters and opportunists threatening to plot a petty ducal rebellion against the Crown, to instigate the death of more of Our nobility, and to instigate the destruction of Our Orenic homeland by tearing it asunder for the sake of their power.

This scheming cannot, and will not continue any longer.

We have been brought to the point where We must question the aristocracy of Adria, in their actions and their spirit, when raiders and common brigands have been resolved by order of their masters to lynch and inhumanely butcher previously neutral knights and nobles, amidst their own disputes with each other and in their forays into Our Crownlands.  In the cutlery of such neutral persons, there is an innate sign of weakness and inability to rule in the character.  Worse is that the harboring of such brigands, rogues and honorless individuals on Adrian territory has gone on for so long under Sarkozic’s watchful eye, contributing little to nothing else to the Realm as a whole besides this malice. The scheming for the disintegration of Our sacred homeland by the traitor known as Hugues Sarkozic (formerly de Montfort) will never be forgotten.

We, the Crown, are especially perturbed by the disgraceful actions of the Duke of Vanaheim, Vasili Vanir, who has profited much and more from Our generosity towards his line. The elevation of standing and station which We yielded to him and the great gentleness with which We treated the House of Vanir has fallen on ungrateful shoulders - We judge this brute, Vasili Vanir, harshly now that his disloyalty has been laid bare.

Further, it is Our policy that in Oren lives only Orenians. The quest for Adrian independence -- or plot for power or armageddon We now know not -- now threatens the lives and dignity of Orenian brethren and indeed foreigners across the world, to tear Our sacred motherland in three, to demise Our standing in international power in the face of the other races, and to blunder the fate of Our civilization as a whole. The quest may have once been reasonable, but it is such no longer.  It has become little more than the task of a warband of brutes, warmongers and traitors to carry out their master’s will. Therefore:

The Crown commands that this band in Adria stand down and lay down their arms, and its officers relinquish themselves of this vile plot to set Our land afire, and turn themselves in, lone, for justice.

If this does not occur, then We will assembly a glorious host of loyal and righteous countrymen, and march into the East to reclaim it for the one Realm.

In this time of turbulence, pretenders and treachery We implore that all true Orenians declare their loyalty.

"Tidings and Good Heart, those who traverse the path of righteousness,

 

 

I am surely aware of the disgust you must know feel, of the unsettling sink in your stomach, at the words you have no doubt only just read. It is with even greater distaste I must once more put my thoughts down as words, to denounce this rogue, inept man whom I myself once served in vain.

 

The crown speaks to you today of Adrian dissent, and secession to form their own independent state. As always, I must personally applaud Olivier on his disconnectedness and stunning ability to remain uninformed as the head of his state, realizing that not only is this rebellion aimed instead at reinstating a capable monarch, but it is more than merely Adrian in nature, but of Vanaheim, Haense, and more freeriders besides. This bumbling call for peace is matched in its absurdity perhaps only in its vain hypocrisy, as Olivier calls into question the "actions and spirit" or the "Adrian Aristocracy", somehow forgetting that it is through his inaction and his lackluster incompetence to display spirit or create unity that has led us into our conflict today. 

 

Olivier has the sheer audacity to claim that Adrians lay claim to the lives of innocents, when his own Amyasmen and royal guard themselves personally kidnapped one of my neutral kin, beating him savagely for the "barbarous" crime of marrying the one he loves. It is as repulsive as it is ludicrous, though I come to expect no less from a main incapable of even the mildest competencies. Perhaps, I am led to wonder, all of the fumes from his armor polish has seeped into his brain, in the dark recesses of wherever his puppets keep him stored away from the light of the world. He speaks of brigands, rogues, and honorless individuals, but strikes naught but in the dead of the night, fleeing before any confrontation, informal or otherwise. He proclaims his men honorable and just, though by popular recollection it is known that, when apprehending a noble Count of ours, his men savagely tore into him, and knocked him from sense, even though he had surrendered (True noble acts, I suppose, are unknown to the Savoyards. Perhaps it is worthy of a thesis, directed towards them). His men scurry from the field of battle against the Coalition, and, like thieves in the night, proclaim victory when pocketing the honest coin of good men. 

 

Furthermore, Olivier the Idle has the boldness to insult my brother, for turning against the man who would not even respond to his personal inquiries nor request for meetings, and claims our savage mistreatment at the hands of the crown (look merely, I implore you, to the statements of my kin above) to be "profitable". It may, I admit, be profitable for a Savoyard to stab ones own family in the back, and use political scheming and savage personal vendetta to express their aggression against the innocents, but such heathenish behavior has no place in Vanaheim, Haense, Adria, nor any other civilized place in the world. Let us not forget, brothers, of the "gentleness" seen in beating a young child who has not yet tasted his wedding bed. Such quaint love, to come from the hand of our merciful god, Ashford. 

 

Judge not, lest ye yourself fall under the same scrutiny, Olivier. You are as fiendish as you are hypocritical, and as honorable as you are logical. You claim that this "quest for Adrian independence", though it is absent both of a decree of independence (instead, in its place, one of rebellion) and it its nature of being solely Adrian (being undertaken, I remind you, over over half of your domain which you have shunned for too long), but it is instead a divine writ by the just God of mercy and honesty that all men follow, though I expect you to know him not. 

 

You claim we are a threat to Orenian safety, when you yourself harm and seize Orenians at will, and have actively (or, more fitting perhaps, inactively) torn apart your very kingdom through your idle slovenliness. You declare us an enemy of the world, while you yourself hold the Elvish states in bondage.  You declare us as a blunder to civilization, you vile snake, when you have shown through your actions know nothing of what it means to be civilized. 

 

Should you march East, my lord, I assure you that you will be welcomed - not with open arms, however, but with open graves, ready for your men. You declare that we shall die in this fiery inferno, but I declare it better to burn in the quest for righteousness, than to die by the need of hope in the land of Savoyard tyranny! Implore all you wish, my former friend, for you have, in your own actions, sealed your fate."

Late one rainy evening, Constantine receives a letter from his squire. He opens it on his desk, grunts, and states to the waiting squire, "A king who cares more for his wife's parties than he does for the stability of the realm is no king of mine. The Crown, it seems, has forgotten that it receives its power from the nobility, not the other way around. The Crown, and the person who's head it rests upon, is simply the first among the equals. Without the support of Oren's nobility, the Crown rules naught but dust. Ave Adria, Ave Sarkozic." Constantine then files the letter away, dismissing the squire and standing to warm his hands by the fire. "War's obnoxious though," he mutters, before snuffing the fire out with a flick of his wrist and stomping towards his bed.
