!THIS IS A RAW ******* CONCEPT!

Have mercy on my Soul

Note:

Spoiler

For as long as I can recall the way one becomes the Orcish Nation Leader, is by the way of the sword. One can either challenge the current rex, or the rex is to be killed in some way or another after which more fighting occurs. I hereby propose a system in which this is changed. The best pvp`er can`t claim rexdom, nor can any non-orc (As it has occurred in the past) become a rex. I hope that in this way Shamanism (Specifically: Lutaumancy and Farseeing) Will gain importance in orcish culture, as it should.

Dah Spiritz Blah

-------------------------------------------------------

“Time for the Spirits to speak out their verdict. Our leader shall guide us as they do, thus must be chosen by Them. No more shall we fight for the title of Rex, the word of the Spirits we abide.”

There is no authority, but the Spirits and Ancestors themselves, that stand above the mighty rank of Rex. He leads us, feeds us, defends us and speaks for us. By custom, the rank of Rex was determined by his strength, courage and boldness. One could only become Rex with the aid of the sword. This is to change. For too long have we neglected the words of the Spirits, we never consulted them in any way, on this Title so Glorious. Never asked them, never bothered.

The Shaman Lutaumen are called upon each 10 years. Only the eldest,  the wisest of their kin must come forth and partake in this Event. They are to consult various Spirits on which Krugmar they deem worthy of the Title Rex. As an addition to this the Farseeers can be called upon to bless these Lutaumen, so that they may succeed in their actions. After which this is to be announced.

This way, the Spirits shall be satisfied, proud even. No longer shall we neglect their words, we shall abide them. For a Rex chosen by the Spirits themselves, must be a good Rex.

-----------------------------------------------------

OOC`ly the orcs will have a mass vote on certain individuals(wargoths and other elders/officials) they deem worthy of the title Rex.

Taken into account are:

The quality of this individuals Roleplay,

The activity of this individual

The current reputation of this individual.

To prevent Fraud every orc only has 1 vote, and a maximum of 5 may be elected each term.

The vote will occur each 10 years, the same individual may only be Rex for two times in a row. If a Rex dies, the event will happen as soon as possible after the death.

tl;dr Rexdom is no longer given to the best PvP`er but the most elligable/favoured candidate in an OOC vote. IC`ly: The Shamans will serve an even more important role in Orcish Culture, as they should

The lumbering dull-witted olog is very certain that he is Rex material, though he would soon become dumb again and goes back to finding food over at his gigantic cave.

But what will happen to my years of training? 10 days of continuous clicking!

But in all seriousness it sounds good.

Somewhere out there, an ambitious little halfling prepares himself to become Rex. Now was his time!

But in all seriousness, I think this sounds like a great idea.

Gone inactive so do with this what you will but saw this and figured I'd give some insight.

good on you for going out on a limb and trying to make change, most lower tier orcs (I don't mean that offensively) walk around on egg shells and don't do this kind of stuff so nice.

Whilst I agree pvp should not be how Rex is decided, and people that do believe this are full retards who are part of the problem with orcs, mass voting is not the way to go either. Typically, runt/grunt orcs will vote for their clan leader regardless of that guys quality, so what this results in is no longer who can click the best gets Rex, but who has the most kids in their clan.

in addition to this, democracy in this instance doesn't work. Just because hypothetically everyone could vote, doesn't mean everyone should. it sounds somewhat tyranical but few orcs outside of the top guys really know how things need to be run, so giving them the ability to decide who actually gets to run it is destined for failure because they don't know what's what in the first place.

what needs to happen is basicalt everyone in the orc leadership Skype chat should be able to vote, no one else. because the orc leadership pool is much more capable and competent now than it has been in recent times, pvp then can be used a decider as there aren't really any awful options.

Havent paid attention to ballzys rexdom, but apart from Oren memes I haven't heard a ridiculous amount of complaints so this whole thing is a non issue as of right now

on the democratic OOC stuff: I thought of this for the reason that I doubt with mere reasoning the orc community can bring forth a single name, I think there will be disputes so therefore a vote.

It does not work, Democracy does not work and leads to Mailnor. The current system is not just PVP and you got it, Random Orcs cant be Rexs if you get what I mean, their is  pool of Orcish leaders that the Rex comes from.

I think the current system is flawed, but it still seems to select competent leaders. As far as I'm aware, before you can challenge the Rex you must either have his permission or the majority of the Wargoths. It's not as if someone who is very skilled at pvp can make an alt and challenge him instantly. I think we should have some kind of set procedure to select new Rex's though when a new one dies or decides to give up the title. I don't think the Rex should be able to just pass off the title when he leaves. When they step down it should for the Wargoths and other leaders to fight and argue about.

My problems with your suggestion is that as others have said, people will just vote for their friends or clan leaders. It won't be based on their qualities but their connections. I also think that an OOC vote influencing what a rp spirit will say is pretty bent. Also if a Rex proves competent why shouldn't they be able to rule for more than two terms?

Orc Ideology is itself incompatible with such a "Theocratic Democracy". I hate to be some random old player weighing in on your situation, but the Rex rules to bring victories by being the strongest leader, not solely to honor the spirits or because it is the will of his people. Due to the Social Darwinism aspect of orcish society, no one's opinion of the Rex matters as long as he is able to enforce his claim via strength, even the spirits have no rights or say in this form of succession. Though it is tradition that in order to challenge a Rex you must have the backing of your clan, typically being a Wargoth to demonstrate the capabilities necessary to take control. As for the topic of PvP being used to determine the strongest, it is in all honesty up to the orcs themselves which mechanic they prefer so long as a result is achieved.

I like the idea of fighting for the leadership with Pvp with the orcs. Makes them different other than say all the other races who vote.

I am not up to snuff with orc hierarchy at all, but the last time I checked, I thought Wargoths were the only ones allowed to fight each other for Rex? If not, then I think going back to that would be the best pay, since they would be the only ones to PVP each other. If it is still in effect, then I don't think anything needs to change.

I see the Orcs as a race that can be both the most organized yet the most disorganized when it comes to government. If it were more organized with voting, then it wouldn't feel Orcish anymore, which saddens me since I see you all as big lovable savages. Though you guys left behind some iconic cultural things, such as pissing on skulls, I really don't think you guys should go to voting.

the current system is basically "the wargoths agree on a dude, and if they don't like him he gets sacked and replaced with another wargoth". It works. Democracy with morons is stupid (look at the USA).

I hope my word still counts even though I'm pretty much gone.

This is not the way to go, imo. The current system is not broken. Yes, the best PvPer can rise to Rexdom. But it does not allow for an idiot to stay in power. If it truly is bad, the Orcs will spit that Rex out quicker than you can say Ug. Voting is not the Orcish way, Orcs are too brutish to wait so long on an election. Uruks are creatures of the moment, not really ones for waiting, waiting, and waiting.

Leave voting to the Elves. Orcs solve problems with their fists, not their pens.

What do you mean Omar Grimmer is the Rex and always will be the Rex.

Omar Grimmer is the true Rex, the other "Rex" that people know is just a figurehead.
